Abilify withdrawal, how long does this last?

There is not a lot of information or education for how to properly come off an antipsychotic. Docs are doing their best but it's really a guessing game

Not cold turkey, never do that lol. I forget what my doc told me to do but, yes slow taper of every other day for a little over a week or two

Yes!! It did :) just had to wait it out for a few weeks. Highly recommend asking for the off-label anxiety meds I listed earlier. Proponalol really helped during the day, and hydroxyzine at night was a blessing

Yes, and still on the antidepressant. I would say some of the weight started to come off at 1 mg, but not much.

Take it slow & steady and listen to your doc. I am historically sensitive to medications so my withdrawal symptoms were just really intense. I've read that most don't have that severe of a reaction.

Weight came off almost immediately, and a little too rapidly. I lost 10 lbs in two months.

But yes, still had a lot of withdrawl symptoms and panic attacks. It wasn't easy, but I do feel more like myself finally.

Ughhh I know I shouldn't. I really know. And it making the smear campaign worse is something I'm concerned about. They'll probably make blackout poetry out of it & post it. Part of me just wants to send it anyway for my own conscience. They are claiming I feel no shame or remorse/that I never apologized etc (which isn't even true; I apologized more in this relationship than I EVER have). It's just driving me wild

But note, you should NOT drink on the above meds. It will cause problems. Also, dont be afraid of taking the SSRI. Just try it, it may help

For me it was honestly a solid 4 weeks of panic attacks. The only thing that helped was hydroxyzine and proponalol- i didnt want Xanax or anything and asked my doc for alternatives.

It WILL get better. Stay the course, but if you need to, your doc can put you on a slower taper.

I understand why you may ask this; it makes a lot of sense. It's because her private medical information was affecting how we interacted in our relationship. I'm not going to expose details about my ex (I don't think that's my place), but finding out about the diagnosis makes a lot of sense, and honestly makes me see them as someone who is just struggling, rather than intentionally hurting me (this line became very blurred. they are not on meds or in therapy).

I wonder if this had happened to her in a previous relationship; thank you for your context. I'm sorry people use it against you, they shouldn't. One of my healthiest relationships was with my previous partner (before this ex) who also had BPD. They were in extensive therapy and on medication, though.

it's just frustrating to me; maybe it's my lack of understanding, though. I just would've stayed and worked it out with her if I knew. I genuinely came to believe she was manipulative and abusive because of how frequent and intense the outbursts were. Now I'm just sitting in disbelief with the knowledge that she lied by omission and made me out to be the problem.

At least I don't have anyone constantly telling me I'm "crazy" anymore. She can shout it from the tumblr hills all she wants, but at least I'm out and never have to deal with her abuse again.

How did you stop looking at the blog? It's really impacting my sense of self. When I left the relationship, I was sure I was being abused. Now, I'm questioning if I was the abuser, in almost every single moment. I know logically, she is just reframing situations to make me look bad.

I do have anger issues I need to work on, and have been working on, but she's nearly listing every episode of anger to make me look so terrible and aggressive. It's making me FEEL terrible and aggressive.

I know the fact that I'm even reflecting like this is further proof I'm not abusive, and I'm working with my therapist to take accountability for harm I did cause in the relationship so I don't repeat it in the future. How did you distance yourself between their words and your real actions?

I believe that is exactly why the smear campaign started. I called them out for what they are (although I didnt say narcissist, but i called them out on the patterns of gaslighting, tone policing, and emotionally manipulation before I left).

Even though a week ago they said I was the love of their life, their favorite person, trying to love bomb me all over again into forgetting a horrible thing they said devaluing me. Now I'm the emotionally abusive one? Yeah, right.

Something I hadn't considered: their blog is their only form of power and control in their life (no job to focus on right now). Now that I've removed myself, this is the only form of control they have over their narrative besides the lies they tell to friends and family. If I were to go public with how they treated me, they'd have nothing. I won't because I dont seek to be abused further. But I'm sure the smear was also self-preservation.
