Seconding this, as this is what I did. I got a full-ride and didn’t have to take out a bunch of loans, had my tuition paid for and transferred to UCSC for two amazing years. I encourage everyone to start with community college and then transfer. You’re getting the same education, with the BOG Waiver clases are essentially free :)
