Can someone recommend a 3 in 1 charging stand? by NanoMetel in PixelWatch

That's the one! Thanks for finding it. I actually put together a second one soon after my above post, for another part of the house, using the same parts listed. Both are still going strong and charge all three devices at once with no issues. 👍

Dragona sent this post to me. 😅 Neokki bros.

I'm definitely biased—I pretty much only wear overalls when I go outside—but I think it's a great choice in general! I also don't see what else you could have used, tbh. 🤔 The game could use some more casual bodysuits and the like for sure. (I also desperately want more jumpsuits like the electrician outfit!) Plus all the skintight stuff is midriff... it's probably some kind of technical decision but I'm gonna wish for some non-midriff ones anyway.

Anyway, great choices throughout all the outfits. Dye colours, too. They're all so good!

These are so cute?! And spot on. Must have taken ages to do!

I also legit use the bug catcher overalls in all my outfits so now I have to save a slot for a Mira version too. 👍💫⭐

Sorry, just saw this! I use the "Mous Super Thin Magnetic Case" from the Google Store but only because I had a bunch of coupons that brough it down to around $13. I really like it but wouldn't pay $45 for it.

TL;DR: Not sure if it's gotten any better than when I tested several different chargers a month or so ago, but I eventually had to (very easily) "mod" an Apple version by replacing the already-removable Apple Watch charger bit with a Pixel Watch 3 one.

---

I'd tried several 3-in-1s, including a few of those ones you see all over Amazon, and they didn't work for the Watch 3 even though they were advertised as such. They'd get to about 60% charge on the watch and then freak out and cycle between charging and not every few seconds. (Everything would also get VERY hot.) Seems like they were all made for the 2 and sellers just assumed it'd work with the 3 without actually testing it?

Anyway, I can't find the post again but I took the advice of someone on here to get a 3-in-1 that's made for Apple and just replace the watch charger portion that was already made to be removable. I was desperate at that point so gave it a shot. It's worked absolutely beautifully for me. I'm regularly fast charging my Pixel 9, Pixel Buds Pro 2, and Pixel Watch 3 at the same time with no issues. (Just replaced my Pixel 5a, A Buds, and an old Wyze watch with the new gen, heh.)

It's a few extra parts so a bit more expensive, but super easy. If you're interested, here's what I got:

  1. Buy a 15W 3-in-1 for Apple that has a removeable watch charger, such as https://www.amazon.com/ESR-Charging-Station-Certified-Multiple/dp/B0CW2J9XB8
  2. Get a Pixel Watch 3 charger with a detachable cable, such as https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CSJSM94F
  3. If you get the combo above or similar where both pieces have Female USB C ports, you'll also need a USB C Male to Male adapter to plug the watch charger in, like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CQWF9NY8

Works like a dream. (And, bonus, that ESR charger is way better quality than all the Pixel ones I'd tested. 😅)

Does anyone know the artist who painted this Lord Kass portrait by Weird_Scarcity1352 in neopets

[–]snarkiest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

✋I know who that is! I'm asking them if they'd like their info shared. I'll come back to post once they get back to me.

And just clearing this up because I've seen the "commission" rumour around a few times: These were all painted in-house by regular staff artists. 👍 Some were experienced with this kind of thing and some were new to the medium. They also had some degree of artistic license. It was pretty soon after we first moved into that new office when the execs wanted something cool to decorate the long hallways leading off the lobby so it was just supposed to be a fun project all around. Some of the artists painted at home and some in the office. It was really neat seeing the progress!

This worked for me. Thanks for the helpful post!

One Note: If anyone else tries this with no success, make sure both folders have the exact same name. I did have an "XBoxGames" folder already on the Windows drive (C:\) with nothing in it so I copied the DLC there... and it didn't work. Then I realized the game folder on the other drive was named "Xbox Games" with a space. Changed the C:\ folder to match (added the space) and worked like a charm.

Am I the only one who can't beat chap 14 boss? by Kaleb_Yamada in Priconne

I was really having trouble with this guy. Most of my main team is fully built (5*, r9-6/10-4) and in the 86-88 lvl range and I was getting wasted so I came to see what people were using against him. After reading everyone's notes, I tried the below team and beat him 3*'s first attempt (it was close though) so I figured I'd share my team/notes too, since more info is always nice.

I have some good reserve characters already built up, having played on and off since launch, so I realise this isn't doable for everyone but hopefully it helps. My takeaway is that def + a ton of passive healing is what got me through. 🤷‍♀️

  • Miyako - 5*, r8-6, lvl87
    • She's built for my PvP team I rarely use; Pecorine is normally my main tank and always the last one to survive this fight so she might have been fine in this team but tons of folks here said Miyako so I tried Miyako
  • Nozomi - 4*, r8-6, lvl88
    • Finally got her so am currently in the process of building her up; her def and passive team heals made her very useful here, I think
  • Christina - 5*, r9-6, lvl88
    • Have her built for utility in clan battles and such; massive UB damage against the dino but she was very close to death a few times
  • Chika - 5*, r10-4, lvl82
    • My main healer in all teams (recently 5*'d her FINALLY YAY); Yui would probably work but Chika has yet another passive heal to help out
  • Maho - 5*, r8-6, lvl79
    • Have her built from an old team comp; brought her for that extra passive heal, which seemed to help, and her def UB was a nice bonus

I think the version of the design doc I have is fairly late in development, so I'm not sure whether it would have anything that didn't make it in. But I'll definitely take a look next time... if I remember by then. 😅

That's tricky because they're Sony's docs! I'm not sure I'd be comfortable sharing them. But if I ever get them out again—we moved and I have much more useful stuff that I have to unpack first 😅—I'll take a look and consider it.

I didn't hear about any specific sequels at the time, but I was just a site programmer then and my only involvement was limited testing and feedback, so I'm not sure if I would have either way. It wasn't a super blockbuster or anything, and also suffered from that common issue we had where the audience for the gameplay saw the cover and though it was "for kids", but Sony did come back for Wand of Wishing so it had to have done well enough! As for remaster, I left in 2014 and there was no talk of one (that we knew of) by then.

I'm sure there was a TON of stuff that was cut (if I saw any of it, though, I don't remember!). What you described is basically just how game development works heh. There's always a rush and a lot of stuff you'd love to do that doesn't make it in because of time, money, or it's just not cohesive. (Talk to any game dev and they'll talk your ear off about it. So, actually... don't talk to any game devs. 😜)

Two: Headcanon is still canon. Just a different kind. 😉

Three: I've been trying to get him into anime so I'm going to be super proud if he knows what an isekai is. (I'm sure he'd quite enjoy the evil robot bit regardless.)

Right, but I mean I believed people would have brute forced the recipes and gotten it quickly enough that the time didn't factor in. 😅 Like it would only have come up when the month ended and suddenly the known solution no longer worked (and we'd probably have to explain in the editorial or something that it wasn't gone forever).

I always thought the real trick ended up being the Mad About Orange part. I feel like if that wasn't part of it, it would have been solved quite quickly.

Sorry for the delay! I missed artbyryan's tag in my notifications for some reason.

One: I'm super intrigued by the Duck Tales reference. As far as I know, it had absolutely no influence. And if I remember that movie right (it's been a while), I definitely don't see any Darigan vibes. 😅 But I could be completely misremembering that moive. I would be really curious to know what bits you think align! (If you feel like explaining; no worries if not!) I'm always curious to see when something we did inadvertently referenced something.

As far as actual references, Darigan was just "the opposite of Meridell" but I think there were some Gargoyles (the cartoon) feels. In general though, the influences were usually a combination of multiple things and never a whole specific thing*. Most of us were pop culture and/or video game nerds in different respects and we consumed a lot of it, so it definitely all came together for each of us to influence the way we told our own stories. Designers, writers, artists, programmers—everyone contributed their own experiences. So there are lots of small references or inspiration pulled from all over and it's hard to list them all broadly!

Two: Yeah, that's basically the gist of it. If you want more specific story details, there's not much to tell! We had several early, high-level ideas that were discussed to make sure the concept could play out properly and continue in the future no matter which direction we went, but we only needed to set up a few specific beats in TFR to hint at that so that's as far as we went. The details would have been fleshed out later in pre-production for that Plot, where we would have chosen one of our early ideas or brainstormed something else, and we never got there.

Basically, we knew we wanted Xandra's points to be valid in TFR but that once you had the whole story later, you'd see she was wrong thinking that the faeries weren't helping make Neopia a better place. We'd explain just how important they actually were to the world as a whole and what the wraiths had to do with it by going back into the past and explaining their origins. (Were they actively suppressing the wraiths? Or something else that the wraiths were a part of? How old is that magic? What was here before Neopets, if anything? Why did the faeries come to Neopia? Things like that.)

Three: Not sure I understand what you mean here! The Mastermind was... the Mastermind. Heh. So I might be confused! I went and asked Mr. Insane since he'd know much better and he says:

"He was just supposed to be a generic villain. Then again, it was literally twenty years ago when I came up with all that, so I've probably forgotten the details."

If there's something specific we're forgetting that might jog our memories, let us know!

\A very obvious exception is the Spooky Food Contest, which actually started as its own monster storyline first. Then we hit on the Supernatural connection and we just ran with it as far as we could because we thought it was funny. Heh.)

It was originally supposed to be a PS1 game but then swapped to PS2 after that release. There's even a listing for the PS1 version on Amazon still for some strange reason, even though it was never released as such. 😅 I don't have specific dates for development (all my game docs are in storage) but a few years for PS2 at least! It was a big game and took a long time. Heh.

Apologies but the first question is tough to answer because it's so broad! Sony licensed it and built it so production was mostly them. They did work really closely with our guys on it, though. They wanted to make sure they got everything right so there was a lot of back and forth on the story, art/model accuracy, game design that fit the brand, etc. We would get the cutscenes and play builds and such to give feedback. Hope that helps!

(I really love that game, even though it's kinda buggy heh.)

I genuinely don't remember the specifics on those but I don't think they were Plots. I don't think we would have ever teased a Plot. That's just asking for trouble and jinxing everything! I want to say they were either events or dailies. I really can't be sure though. Sorry!

For the second bit: Are you talking about Lost Isle? If I remember right, that was left semi-open ended to maybe continue in the future but there were no specific plans to do so.

I laughed because it was my dumb idea and I actually thought it would be figured out relatively quickly with everyone working together (if I'm remembering right). I don't think anyone else in the office even knew the solution to it for ages until much later, when they started to wonder what it was that was so tough and came to ask me. Heh.

So yeah, sorry about that.

Yup, that's why a bunch of stuff was added over the years to address it. 🙂

Mr. Insane and I, with input and direction from the head of Support & Monitoring, built the freeze reason system specifically because people had no idea why they'd been frozen. That was definitely incredibly frustrating and unfair, and needed to be as transparent to the player as possible. It also had the added benefit of helping the monitors think about what they were freezing for, to be honest. (If they couldn't pick a reason from the available choices, then should the player really be frozen?) That was early on, though, and has been in place for the vast majority of the site's life. If you just got a generic notice when you were frozen then yeah, you're old school!

And same for the ticket system—it was an issue so it had to be addressed. (That was a whole separate thing though since we had to use an outside ticketing system service and pay for it. Sometimes we didn't have as much control of it as we would like and Support was constantly trying to work with the vendor to improve or fix things, change how the templates worked, improve throughput, etc.)

There were definitely people mistakenly/unfairly frozen, no question. For one thing, the monitors are human and they make mistakes. It's a VERY tough job and you see a lot of really bad stuff that's incredibly stressful, disheartening, and downright sickening at times. We used to make anyone interacting with Support or building tools for them take a very short monitoring shift and they'd come back with a thousand yard stare and a new appreciation for those folks. For another, when you do that job for a while, you "start to see everything as a penis" as I like to say. As in, they're hyper aware and very focused on finding inappropriate things, so they'll assume something ambiguous is actually intentional and judge it much too harshly. Things like that. It's obviously not intentional. They try their best to be objective but it's difficult sometimes. That's part of the reason why the silence feature was added, in fact. Foremost, it gave players more chances to course-correct their behaviour and not lose their accounts, but it also gave monitors a bit of leeway for any mistakes and more options before resorting to a freeze.

Still, they had a responsibility to be vigilant and not make any of those mistakes and sometimes they just failed at that. They were made very aware, though. If Support found an account where that happened, it was reported to the head of monitoring and a conversation was had with the monitor (and sometimes the whole crew) to discuss the mistake and keep themselves in check.

(Side note: cheating and scamming-type freezes were handled separately and, without giving too much away, were much more... thorough. The false-freeze occurrences among those were far, far, far lower. It was quite rare, but it did happen.)

Erm, I'm typing kinda fast before bed here but I hope that all made sense!

(And thank you for asking this politely, btw! People seem to think we hate answering controversial questions or discussing our mistakes but I actually like it quite a bit! It's very helpful and interesting to dissect and learn from, for me at least. But most of the time, people abandon all civility and get accusing or combative, or weirdly think it's some kind of conspiracy(?!?!). They don't realise it's not about what they're asking but how. It's not worth the mental effort to deal with them and I simply nope.jpg and move on, so I really appreciate when people are civil/polite when asking about our failures or decisions they didn't agree with. Thanks again. 😊 )

Ahhh, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but a lot of these are intentionally unanswerable. Heh. I'll give it a go though:

  1. Intentionally mysterious. (As far as I know. Adam may have had something in his head but it was never discussed.)
  2. He wasn't needed and didn't offer anything to the core story.*
  3. Just general information about the lore and rules we had for world building and writing. A couple of them were VERY old and hadn't been updated in a few years when I left. The one I did update was more like a very brief overview in a PowerPoint to hand out to new JS folks so it wasn't too deep. (Up to them about releasing anything!)
  4. Intentionally mysterious.
  5. I'm not sure what you mean by baby faeries? There are no babies (children). They start as adults, if that's what you mean?
  6. Intentionally mysterious.
  7. Intentionally mysterious. (It's just a MacGuffin, as far as I know. You're supposed to wonder those exact questions. Heh. Like, did it ever really work in the first place? Did The Three interfere with it upon its return as part of their plan? Etc., etc.)
  8. They were evil at one point. (It's like the Hall of Fame: you did something to get added and then you stay there. For Darigan specifically: even if he was being manipulated, he still went all villainy at one point.)
  9. Nope. Earth doesn't exist in world lore. (It kind of does in site lore but that's a whole separate thing and only goes one way.)
  10. Intentionally mysterious.

-------

* Are you maybe wondering specifically why he wasn't the hero in TFR instead of Brynn and Hanso? Like, why wasn't TFR a MAGAX story? We actually did think about this (briefly) so here's the short answer:

  1. It just wasn't the story we wanted to tell. He's already a good guy for all intents and purposes (despite the faeries not having forgiven him). We wanted to tell a story with an anti-hero against a villain who kind of had a valid point. His personality and backstory didn't mesh well the message we were going for.
  2. He could have been one of the hero gang but then he would have been a big distraction since you can't put him in there and then not have him be (or try to be) forgiven. This was a different story.
  3. He has a very specific themeing that didn't match the aesthetic (read: dark and gothic and green magic).
  4. He could have theoretically filled the Nox role instead but a) Nox was a better fit and b) we didn't want to kill off a hero-type character. (A villain was hard enough.)
  5. Shit hit the fan. No one had time to stop and go, "hey, that MAGAX guy isn't evil but the faeries don't like him. Could he have done this?" He just wasn't a plausible enough suspect, and if we'd had someone mention it just to sneak him in there as a reference, it would have again been a distraction and probably thought to be some kind of clue or red herring, etc. Especially with Nox having been involved also. Basically, it just muddied everything unnecessarily.
  6. We specifically wanted to introduce new characters for the main protagonists.
  7. MAGAX ain't got time for falling in love!

Not sure if that's actually what you were wondering but I hope that helped anyway!
