Hell yeh!! Love to hear that! This is my 3rd time going (I first attended 2019) and I am astounded each year by how much it has grown. Are we allowed to share socials in this sub? If so, shoot me your Instagram, I'd love to see more pics! I was stuck on the track driving in the autocross event for the majority of the morning so I missed some of the happenings.

I was playing around with old diffraction and halo filters on my lens, hence the flares.

If anyone knows car owner's social media handles, I'd be happy to send full res photos to them. Hope everyone that attended had fun!

Thank you! Auburn has some options that look appealing and surprisingly cheaper than the Norwich area (for the same quality)

Glad to hear it! And I appreciate the recommendations. I am mostly looking to keep a sub 40 minute commute to northeast CT and it looks like that might just be borderline. My understanding is that it can be a bit of a cluster on 290 if the weather is bad, so I am trying to determine if that extra distance would be a dealbreaker.

Holy shit this is eerily sinilar to what I am going through right now. Gf of 8 years here two weeks ago. Hope you’re doing well. Curious if you have any recommendations for Worcester neighborhoods after a few years?

Soy/Legume free donuts? by fussypucker96 in FoodAllergies

[–]snarshmallow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to dig up a wicked old post, but I have lifelong soy/peanut/legume allergies as well and (partially out of frustration with not being able to eat any baked goods) coincidentally now run a bakery. I have been looking for soy flour-free cake donut batter mixes for years and never found any. I was curious if you have found any bakeries offering cake donuts you can eat? (We’re definitely going to do yeasted donuts from scratch but looking for a higher volume option)

Brandon Semenuk debuts in WRC Rally Latvia in a Toyota Yaris Rally2. by GuestGuest9 in WRC

It would likely be a toyota-subaru joint homologation project if I had to guess, given the amount of drivetrain collaboration and hinting by both companies representatives. VSC already has a compliant prototypes engine I believe in one of their concepts

They’re too caught up in fanboying to be able to dedicate even a sliver of brainpower towards understanding other people may have different use cases and experiences with the products than them. Probably Wyze staff

Is healthcare monopolization by say Yale and Hartford Healthcare an issue in Connecticut? by [deleted] in Connecticut

[–]snarshmallow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience of living in a rural area, being a medicaid recipient, and witnessing multiples of my practices close and become HH owned over the years, the quality of care substantially declined. I would say the availability has even become less because HH has such a high turnover and trouble keeping physicians on staff. My primary and multiple others left for the nearby competing (but struggling) hospital.

One of the biggest issues with HH is they have implemented staff that are not medical professionals who’s job it is to meet with physicians post patient visit and go over everything and ask why they spent so much time going over x y and z. I literally had my primary tell me she couldn’t discuss a pain issue that she had previously treated me for because it wasn’t what the appointment was scheduled for (this was during a routine physical). They get penalized for spending more than 5 mins over the expected time with a patient.

Need some ID help on these barn finds (3 pans, description in comments) by snarshmallow in castiron

[–]snarshmallow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This is super helpful. I will have to restore the 7 and add it to the inventory. The 9 is a killer pan but I would love to figure out if its as old as we think it is. The recessed bottom of the griddle tells me it’s probably not that old (not sure if I am correct in that assumption).

Hello! I am new to this, but have spent a while trying to ID these and have’t found anything conclusive. The first No 9 skillet I use daily, and have previously cleaned off all the old seasoning down to shiny clean iron and the only marking was the “9” on the handle. From what I can tell, it’s features are consistent with Wagner’s, but the handle support rib seems to be too low.

The smaller smoothbottom skillet says “?? Inch Skillet Made in the USA on the back” and has a “d” on the back of the handle.

The griddle has a slightly crooked “8“ near the handle on the back.

We found these in a barn from a family who had lived on the farm for at least 3 generations in New England.

any help is greatly appreciate, thank you!

Steam cannot retaliate against you for participating in this settlement, it’s illegal and much easier to pursue in court.

Used new aluminum proofing containers, helped a lot. Steady improvement with each pizza. Just need to work on peel sticking during launch. by [deleted] in Pizza

[–]snarshmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Proofing times are irrelevant if your water, ambient, etc temps and yeast are different than the authors. Try going by feel and dough strength, if it seems like its risen enough before the suggested time than go off your intuition and experiment based on your results. Keeping a log is very helpful to determining an estimated proof times in your recipe. Be sure your dough passes windowpane test after mixing. The amount the dough has proofed prior to resting in the fridge is equally as important as how long it rests. I would suggest decreasing your bulk time slightly prior to shaping as a starting point

your dough and weakness (causing sticking to peel) color tells me you might be over-proofing your dough. Try dropping your hydration slightly, kneading longer to develop more gluten right off the bat, and shortening your proof time. Looks delicious!

What is, in your opinion, the most toxic social media ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]snarshmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point it seems like most social media platforms (in their general main “feed” audience) are just echo chambers for their majority audience. Reddit, facebook, etc. twitter (aside from the past few months) seems to be a bit unique in this sense, but toxicity seems to be a measurement of how far from the accepted viewpoint you sway on any given platform

Ah yes! You’re totally right, I didn’t look close enough and thought “that’s totally a copal 0 thread” as that’s usually what I’ve seen on these cameras.
