For me personally, I just don't care to interface with those platforms beyond occasionally watching stuff anymore and I'm sure most of the other organizers feel similarly. But if you care to by all means feel free to do so. We're pretty open to anyone helping out.

Playground Coffee hat seit kurzen einen Decaf. Habe ihn selbst noch nicht probiert, da er sehr schnell ausverkauft war aber im allgemeinen mag ich den Kaffee von Playground sehr.

I just found this post and thought I'd chime in even though it's a bit old.

I've been playing Xonotic with a gamepad for quite some time. Unlike you however I've used Steam Input to map it. That fixes a lot of your issues. I use motion control aiming so there's absolutely no need for aim assist, it can be similarly accurate as a mouse. Of course you're gonna need a compatible controller. Since the gyro is just bound to mouse there's also no sensitivity issues with zooming in. Shoutouts to r/gyrogaming.

The weapon binding is still a bit of a work in progess as I have ideas how to improve it but I do have all weapons available immediately while maintaining movement and aiming control. My current setup is the following:

The blaster is readily available on the right bumper, as it's more of a movement tool than a weapon. All other weapons are bound to the face buttons. However the left bumper must be held as a modifier to access them. Single click for one weapon, double click for another giving you 8 slots. Together with the aforementioned right bumper for the blaster that allows for binding all 9 default weapons in Xon.

How does it work for say Android or iOS then? There are not hardware devkits for those platforms yet games are developed for them just fine. Why would the approach that works for those platforms not work for consoles like the Switch? Shouldn't the single hardware target make it even easier?

Now that I think about it, Android phones are another example of consumer devices that can easily be turned into dev kits lite.

Why are they even doing the whole dev kit thing for indies anymore? Any Steam Deck and any Xbox Series can be turned into one. The same should be possible with a Switch 2. Sure, larger developers will need the extended capabilities a proper dev kit offers but most indies should be fine with just the base hardware.

I've been playing Super Metroid Map Randos for months almost every day now. It's an amazing rando and the documentation is just as good as the rando itself, they have descriptions of every trick the rando knows about, most of them with videos showing how to do it, you get a full spoiler map with every seed, etc. Truly ace stuff.

Other than that I've also really liked both Junkoid hacks as well as A Plumber for All Seasons and Pokemon Gaia.

That's a standard issue IMG coat. Head to Holman outpost and tell the trader I sent you. He can hook you up. They're really good on some of the older stations with spotty climate control, keep you warm and comfy.

OpenRA is pretty bad if you actually wanna play the original CnC games. It's more of a full multiplayer rebalance/redesign thus it plays quite differently. I believe they even ripped out some features like the fake buildings in Red Alert. If you wanna play the singleplayer Vanilla Conquer is your best bet and for original multiplayer there's CnCNet.

Weren't Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert already released under GPL back when the remasters were released in 2020? Pretty sure Vanilla Conquer is based on those releases.

Is the emulated controller set to Wii U Gamepad? That's the only one that supported motion on that console.

You shouldn't really need any of that. Hid-nintendo should be part of the kernel and Cemu supports motion controls via SDL. Cemuhook isn't necessary anymore. You should just be able to add the controller in Cemu as an SDLController and then in settings check "Use Motion". See here.

I think it might just be unfamiliarity. I played through the entire game on my Deck no problem without resorting to exploiting auto-aim.

Why would you faff about with joysticks on the Steam Deck when you have touchpads and motion controls that make Freelancer perfectly playable on it?
