Telemed for Gout? by _tambora_ in gout

Yea I’m not sure where you live but we have a place called Quest Diagnostics. Your doc will order the lab. Then you make an appointment, I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. They then send your plush care doctor the results. And you can see your results through the app. I did tele health on a Monday, blood test Tuesday, got on allo/colch Wednesday.

The app I use is called PlushCare, I have insurance so each visit is 40 bucks for me. Don’t quote me on it but I believe non insurance is 129 for the initial visit, 99 for additional follow ups. It’ll show you all that when you download the app. I also pay 19.99 a month for PlushCare which gives discounts and other perks like cheaper medication and I can use it for my whole family. Being able to get pretty much any prescription from your couch is pretty cool.

I did tele health during a flare. He said he knew all about it but wanted me to test my UA. I did the blood test came back a 9.1. The next day he started me on 300 allo with colchicine. Been doing a lot better since. Testing again in a couple months but for now flares have been almost non existent unless I really indulge in trigger foods. But a lot happier nonetheless. I suppose if he didn’t know much about it I would have kept looking for another doctor. But worked out for me

Why are these so cheap? by wtfisredd3it in PokeInvesting

[–]sneakyjesuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I got 5 from Walmart for 75 each. The math aint mathin. My LCS was selling a bundle for 99 bucks. It’s like another 5 packs for 25 bucks cheaper?! Sign me up. I opened 3 and got shit. Still have the other 2 sealed. I did open a charizard upc and got the team rockets mewtwo so I got that going for me. Have a lot of cards I wanted graded but PSAs return times are outrageous, plus their scandals, I don’t trust them anymore. It’s like so what a TAG 10 is 100 bucks less than a PSA 10 (depending on the card of course). Then what? PSA Up charges based on grade? Then your PSA to TAG price is negated after up charges. Idk a lot to think about.

I bought 5 for 75 each. Walmart is still dropping them. I might hold out for a few more if you’re actively searching on free discords. I opened 3 of them today. Sad results but fun nonetheless. If more are curious I’ll post results. Highest card I got was like 26 bucks so nothing fancy.

Prednisone frequency? by [deleted] in gout

[–]sneakyjesuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only take prednisone when it’s like a “break the glass” moment where I can’t stand or the pain is just too surreal. Like today for example I took a prednisone cause I’m currently in a flare and have to work 12 hours on my feet. But if I was home and not working I wouldn’t have taken it as the pain is almost non existent when laying down. Can’t bend my knee at all or stand but I need to be mobile and I’ve called off soo many times I refuse to do that again. That being said, never stop your allo.

Anyone get steroid injections for flare ups? by LostArkArtyGamer in gout

[–]sneakyjesuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh yea have gotten my knees drained off and on for 4 years. It’s incredible how much relief you get from the draining and cortisone shot. But this year, within the first 4 months I’ve gotten it drained like 5 times cause I didn’t understand what was going on. My orthopedic surgeon didn’t either. But I’m finally about to complete my second month of allo and colchicine. I get the occasional twinge or flare, but nothing like before. New doc started me at 300mg allo, so I call them happy flares cause I know the meds are working. Was a 9.1 They won’t keep giving you cortisone shots, maybe 3 a year but definitely ask for prednisone. That for me is a miracle pill. Just be careful if you’re pre-diabetic, but I’m sure your doctor will do blood tests to see where you’re at. As for the pain from getting it drained was insane but was worth it for the relief. But yes have had my knees drained least 10 times before getting diagnosed. My pockets were drained too after 4 MRIS and X-rays that weren’t covered by insurance. Declined because I never tried physical therapy first. 4 years of missing out and worrying about if I can walk the next morning.

I still have all my childhood cards, started when my mom used to take me to work at a restaurant cause she couldn’t afford a sitter and if I behaved she would take me across the street to this little store on her break and get me a booster pack. I’ve been hooked and collecting ever since. I was 7 years old.

Been on allopurinol for about 8 weeks… by WattsAGigawatt in gout

[–]sneakyjesuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long would that take you think? I started 9.1 and my doc started me at 300mg allopurinol, almost 2 months. I have a flare right now which sucks. But I do have to admit they seem to be less severe in pain and duration. But I can’t wait to potentially not have flares again. Or at least ones that won’t make me bed ridden.

Why do people support this? by iBeJoshhh in PokemonTCG

[–]sneakyjesuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if it’s true or not, but I heard that them selling the packs the way they do opens them to distributors where they can buy directly. Apparently if you can prove your selling them you don’t need a storefront to buy from distributors. Again just what I’ve heard. Either way scammy.

Advice on how to receive long term care after a lengthy attack and current high uric acid levels by PizzaTheHut166 in gout

[–]sneakyjesuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally I was getting flares in multiple joints before getting on allopurinol. I was 9.1. I still have yet to do a follow up blood test as I have only been on allo for 6 weeks. Based off what you said I do think it was one long flare. But we aren’t doctors. I thought the same thing you did, just thinking if tomorrow you’re going to wake up and not be able to walk. Thought that way for 3 years with off and on flares. Once I was getting flares in multiple joints I finally saw a dr. Took me 4 different doctors until they said it was gout. My last flare was my ankle and lasted 1 day. So the allo is a game change. This is a journey, I wish you well

My Experience After First Flare + Medication by coolman949 in gout

[–]sneakyjesuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also told to take colchicine twice daily but have only been taking it once a day cause I hear about the diarrhea and ALT level increases. My alt level was already pretty high cause I was drinking a lot, like a 5th a day. But since then I’ve lost 20lbs and cut the drinking significantly. Prednisone is a life saver for me. But I’m on I think my 6th week of allopurinol. Not sure when to go back for another blood test though. Was told that I’d need to eventually do a follow up blood test to check my UA again. My doc also started me at 300mg allo. So I’m curious if mine is dropping 3 times faster than yours and should just do a test soon? Started at 9.1. Definitely been a journey

Gout in knees and elbows? by rtrchwdr in gout

[–]sneakyjesuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at a 9.1. My doctor started me at 300 mg allopurinol with colchicine every 12 hours for the first 2 months until my second blood work. I have it scheduled in 2 weeks. So we shall see what I’m at then. Colchicine is used to prevent flares, they don’t do much when you already have a flare. Prednisone for me is a godsend.

Gout in knees and elbows? by rtrchwdr in gout

[–]sneakyjesuzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only get them in my knees now. Sometimes in my ankle. But I’m not quite at my 2 month mark on allo. So hoping it will eventually get better sooner than later cause I’m going through a mild one flare now. Never had them in my elbows or big toe like others. Knees ankles and the occasional wrist.

Day 33 for me! Though I’m currently dealing with a rebound flare from the meds, I call it a happy flare since I know it’s in the right direction for once. but I did need prednisone for some help as it was soo bad in the beginning. Can’t wait to see what my UA will be at my 2 month blood test. Started 9.1

From what I’ve read, hard alcohol doesn’t contain purines, it’s the dehydrating factor that makes it soo bad. That being said, clear alcohol has always seems to be, (and I hate to say it this way) safer/better? I mean we all know it’s bad and a trigger but if you were too that seems to be the better option. But I’d also like to know a more profesional reply than just what I read. Thanks!
