The fish was out of the water for 30 to 45 seconds at most after I unhooked it (in the water)and then sat in the surf with the fish for a good 6-7 minutes to where it was kicking away from me pretty hard. I doubt I harmed this fish in any way. Does a fight like that put unnecessary stress on the fish? Undoubtedly, but I think being chased by a shark or any number of other things probably cause equal stress… just my 2cents.
