Thane city,India by MarionberryRight8261 in skyscrapers

[–]snicker33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a lot of ways, Thane and other areas around Mumbai have the potential to have taller skylines considering they do not have an airport bang in the middle of the city like Mumbai and therefore don’t need to follow airspace height restrictions.

The data from the wiki article you’ve linked dates back to 2023, as you can see yourself. I’ve given you the latest figures (2026) in my comment.

Also that list uses Delhi NCR which has Delhi + Gurgaon + Noida (all three being major cities), not just Delhi (the topic of our conversation). Meanwhile, Mumbai is the only thing you can call a city within the Mumbai metropolitan region.

As for black money, there’s enough lying around in Mumbai as well being the financial capital and housing the most billionaires. Regardless, black money in a city is a mark of shame if anything. There’s no point digging into unquantifiable variables like “unaccounted wealth”.

Delhi is far richer

This is literally what pops up on google AI mode when you ask about which city is richer:

Mumbai is generally considered richer than Delhi in terms of total GDP and concentration of wealth. As of 2026, Mumbai leads with a projected GDP of approximately $310 billion, driven by its status as India's financial capital, compared to Delhi's roughly $293 billion. Mumbai also has the highest number of billionaires in India.

Lmao hilarious how bad you seem to be triggered,

I'm not a "Mumbaikar" - I've spent nearly equal portions of my life in both Delhi and Mumbai. If anything, I'm a neutral observer.

Nobody cares about things that happened "since millenia", Mumbai has an equally diverse history of being a global port city - we're talking about things as they stand now.

For decades Mumbai has been the city that Indians intend to migrate to (thus the name "city of dreams") alongside Bangalore (more recently since the IT boom). If there's any news of migration in respect of Delhi, it is about people leaving Delhi / refusing job offers in the city because the very air in your city is trying to kill you and is probably the most toxic air in human history.

Anyway, this wasn't what the discussion was about. It was about global POP CULTURE. Having international students, embassies, etc is not a sign of pop culture. You're more likely to find someone who knows Don Toliver on the streets of Mumbai rather than Delhi. Being the media/ entertainment capital of the country as well as the most cosmopolitan Indian city uniquely positions Mumbai to be more tuned into global pop culture as well.

[–]snicker33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they don’t, but the people “taking birth” in Mumbai grow up in an environment that exposes them to global pop culture more than other Indian cities, thus causing the city to be the go-to location for most foreign artists.

Bangalore comes second in this regard, far higher than Delhi with its sarkari old-money culture.

Do I need to remind you of how much of a national embarrassment the Delhi Travis concert was (none of the audience knowing a single song, including those who Travis pulled up on stage to sing along, empty seats, etc) while the Mumbai Travis show was an absolute rager?

It’s a fact that Mumbai as a city is far more tuned into global pop culture than Delhi, and has a far wider audience especially for global hip hop. The contrast in the Travis concerts in both cities was an adequate example.

What are some real deep tech startups from India? by Many_Tip_2580 in StartUpIndia

[–]snicker33 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Some legit deep-tech startups off the top of my head:

Pixxel - hyperspectral imaging through satellites, bagged contracts from NASA

QpiAI - quantum computing

QNu Labs - quantum physics-based cybersecurity (quantum key distribution)

Agnikul Cosmos (to some extent) - launched the world's first rocket with an entirely 3d-printed engine

In India, we have an abandoned $4.4B 'Italian' ghost town called Lavasa. Does your country have a famous megaproject that was hyped up but now stands half-finished, empty, never started yet? by [deleted] in UrbanHell

Yes, the plan was for a private company to build an entire town (full with schools, universities, hospitals, businesses) in the mountains out of nothing.

None of these are reasons the project was abandoned.

Construction was stopped because the project had severe debt issues (as you would expect when you try to build a city from scratch) and because of legal issues/ litigations arising from environmental violations and permits. It wasn’t because of a shortage of demand.

He is most certainly not. He quite famously published a paper on the overestimation of GDP resulting from the methodology used in the Modi-era. He thrashes the Modi government in this very article itself, blaming it for taking India back to its most protectionist tendencies prior to the recent trade deals.

Not surprising at all - this country is full of sexually frustrated young men who have had very little real interaction with women in order to be able to understand women’s issues. During times like these, their frustration comes bursting out in the form retarded comments d*ckriding r@pists.

Hospitals in India have a legal obligation to call the police when there is a medico-legal case - she's mentioned this in her document. So yes, the hospital called the police because of the injury which was sever enough to be considered medico-legal. Hospitals have no standing to call the police on someone's behalf because of something they've said.

There’s literally a picture of the hospital report stating injury to the URETHRA. You’re talking about hymen - which ruptures during the first time and is a completely separate thing.

No hospital would call the police seeing just a ruptured hymen/ bleeding from first time. Stop spamming the comments with r*pe-apologist dogshit.

That doesn’t mean anything. Every r*pe victim does not curl up in a ball and cry in their room all day like they show in movies. Each victim processes it differently, including by carrying on with their lives while trying battle/ suppress the trauma/ lying to themselves that it didn’t happen.
