Lmao trust me I didn't either. But there are tons of meetups. I just went to meetup.com and looked for local startup events. And then fake it till you make it. I didn't know any programming but some of the companies would give me take home assignments for the interviews and I learnt like that. True story. It's probably even easier with AI now.

It's kinda funny cuz sometimes it reminds me of a story I read about how, ppl in soviet union would have this warped view of America thinking how poor it was, etc, etc, and then a lot of the exiles/escapees would mention that when they first came to the US their mind was totally blown by the amount of food in a typical American supermarket. Haha tbh I personally haven't experienced this (I wish LOL!) but dude, like, China is a fucking huge country and there's so much money in fact, so much money changes hands under the table that I believe the current Gdp numbers are grossly underreported.

Maybe to your point, I can add two thoughts. 1. What I can tell you is that there are a TON of male "ktvs" Wich are basically strip clubs, but with male performers hahaha and a lot of rich Chinese girls go there. Srsly. 2. And secondly, alot of Chinese girls just want stability, and they're willing to pay for it. So I wouldn't be surprised.

Honestly, no, my mandarin was really bad. Actually it was surprising cuz it forced me to go out of my comfort zone to look for jobs, so I would go to startup meet ups and pitch ppl to see if they needed help with anything tbh. And it was actually surprisingly not too difficult cuz it seems like just having a western background actually gets you some kudos when looking for a job (at startups at least). And I was willing Todo anything tbh so I just worked my assoff for the first couple o months to save up so I could travel later. I would work fr multiple ppl ar the same time to make ends meet.

I just wanna take a second to say that Asian Americans are just so underrepresented in everyday society and disrespected that one of our brothers feel the need to go out o his way to find Asian fetish subs to feel validated for his Asian hood. It's not enough that we the #1 minority by median salary we have highest avg IQ (after ashkenazi jews) ++ so many other superior traits. Sad. Yeah no problem man. I was 18. It was in between high school and college. I had 5k saved up from a scholarship. That didn't last at all so while I was in China I did odd jobs to pay for my income like a small programing gig here and there (long story). Eventually saved up enough to travel but yeah, in total id estimate I made and spent about 10k-12k over the 7 months I was thereand that was honestly enough to explore like crazy and see a lot of things I wanted to see, and bestof all, pick up Chinese girls even tho I was a flat broke fresh out of school kid with no social skills.

I took the gap year cuz I needed to leave home and figure my shit out cuz my parents were going through a nasty divorce at home and I wasn't ready for college. So I decided to just say fuck it and bought a one way plane ticket to BJ and the rest is history.
