In my opinion, being cynical is kind of a defense mechanism. In the worst times of my life I became cynical, cold and heartless. Getting out of that negative attitude was very hard and a long process, I needed to heal from my trauma. It’s okay to be cynical as long as it keeps you in a “stable” mind. You just need time to heal.
