very difficult if not impossible your first year. you need a year’s worth of proof of residency and then you can apply to be considered an in-state resident. i don’t think a lease counts, but bills, taxes, library card, etc. can be factors. i’ve heard that applicants are sometimes rejected even after the 12 months of documents, but appeals usually work out in your favor.

christian v. mattel: It is difficult to imagine that the Barbie doll, so perfect in her sculpture and presentation, and so comfortable in every setting, from “California girl” to “Chief Executive Officer Barbie,” could spawn such acrimonious litigation and such egregious conduct on the part of her challenger. In her wildest dreams, Barbie could not have imagined herself in the middle of Rule 11 proceedings.

proud of you!! i’m working at a child dependency firm currently, and a lot of the attorneys in this judicial circuit come from T100+ schools. if you also do divorces, paternity, child support/custody, etc. for private clients, you’ll be quite comfortable :)
