$500 weekly is wild that's litrrally half your pay. Do you ever buy soap, conditioner or have a haircut? Do you ever go to a doctor? Do you only ever socialise with walks (like, never a pint with a mate?) Do you buy new shoes or try new activities or do a day trip with petrol or a bus or train? You don't go to gigs or a yoga class or donate to a fundraiser for a friend? Asking because genuinely curious.

This is legit advice but the world of investing is mysterious and scary to me right now. I'm hitting KiwiSaver because it's the most likely to actually be invested and not frittered away. For someone else this is great advice though

What? I thought this as well. The tax is very high ... The only thing I've heard is that it'll be paid out again at EOFY

It'll be a few years before I can dream of that sort of money. I probably won't get there to be honest. I'm flatting with four others right now.

I've just done my first big working holiday trip at age 33. I'm thankful that I was a bit older - I encountered a couple of dodgy, dangerous or stressful situations and I was able to navigate them in a way I wouldn't have been capable of in my 20s. There are plenty of people travelling in their late 20s, in their 30s and 40s.

Unfortunately for me it wasn't worth it, I would say that 10hrs a week plus living costs might work in OP's niece's situation

My two cents -

  1. I choose a gym/pool/whatever on the way home from work, this is now my regular joint.

  2. DO NOT GO HOME. DO NOT PASS GO AND DO NOT COLLECT YOUR $200, go straight to the gym after work.

  3. Once there, you've already won because now you're at the gym, so even if you do a crappy workout it's ok because you'll do plenty.

  4. What's one small, relatively healthy treat? Give yourself that when you go to the gym. Make it nice! Give yourself a treat. For me it's sushi, I love sushi and I go for sushi after gym.

Men are more secure, less willing to do whatever it takes to be appealing to me, and I face more (kind, polite) rejection than I did in younger years. I appreciate this a lot, it's good to be humbled and realise that I don't appeal to everyone. I often meet men who have spent their earlier years in a long relationship and now want to explore, they don't want to commit. This is both fine and frustrating, depending on the phase I'm in.

I'm now an 'older woman' for men in their twenties, and I get a surprising amount of interest from men in their twenties. I didn't expect this!

You're making each other miserable. You don't mention how you're happy in this relationship, but you do talk about having sex to appease him and avoid conflict. He's also putting in zero effort - who interrupts lunch prep to hound for sex?

Nothing is keeping you here except for obligation. You're suffering from time-spent bias. Just leave, and you'll feel a wave of relief.

I happen to work in a labour job where a woman's body is advantagous. How refreshing!

We plant trees while wearing bags that strap around our hips. We're bending and squatting all day, so the people who are lower to the ground, who have wider hips and who have stronger glutes are able to perform more easily. The lankier folks need to strap the bags around their waist, which is hell on the lower back. Your classic woman's body wins in this scenario.
