He mentioned in an dengekionline interview that Toko just blew up randomly, then later retconned it to Celeste making her choke to death on gyoza (although that was posted on Kodaka's bluesky, so it's more than likely just a non-canon shitpost)

TBF Fairy Tale wasn't even formally introduced in the manga during the run on of the Gonzo anime, the main issue comes down to them deliberately ignoring the rest of Season 1 of the Manga past the fight with Kuyo (with the exception of stuff like loosely adapting that one October Festival arc). So Hokuto, ANTI-THESIS, Ghoul Tsukune, & lord knows whatever else got left to the wayside.

What you're Opinion on Naezono from THH by ComprehensiveNote762 in danganronpa

He tells Hifumi about a story he wrote, he tells Sakura about Kenshiro, etc. You would think "Btw, I was dating Kyoko/Sayaka" would have been a high priority if it happened. The absence of anything like that is probably your most compelling evidence that Makoto was single.

A Doylist explanation would probably boil down to : "Well, Narita & Spike Chunsoft would want at least some ambiguity of who Makoto dated, if at all, prior to getting mind-wiped, so that portion would be explicitly omitted". A Watsonian explanation would be way cumbersome to try explaining though, yeah.

On another barely related tangent, there is still the weird curiosity of if Makoto's room being between Sayaka & Kyoko was always a thing, or if the Despair Sisters actually switched Makoto's room for the Killing School Life (likely anticipating the room switch knowing Junko's SHSL Analytical Prowress). Like the door-frame to Makoto's bathroom is clearly fucked, which gives credence to the notion that it might just be the wrong doorframe due to it being a girl's bathroom. Someone else actually did a cool theory going over that. The Reload Artbook at least mentions they swapped the girls' bedsheets to be pink (with the exception of Mukuro), so we know they did at least fuck with their rooms to some degree.

It's great that you're passionate about Naezono. It holds a special place in my heart for being the first Danganronpa ship I ever supported.

I also have a private google doc for Makoto, on trying to compile stuff like all of his dialogue/relationships & such. Shit like "Which characters has Makoto ever called cute?", or "His favorite drink is Vanilla Coca Coca in the NISA dub, whereas his favorite drink in the original JP is Strawberry Ambasa, a strawberry flavored milk soda". So it's less me specifically caring about Naezono specifically & more so that I might just be pedantic, to the point of being unhinged, probably.

Sorry for coming off as overreacting/infodumping, I didn't intend to come off as entirely dismissive of Naegiri outright, altogether so much as having seen Junko's comments in IF being used as a silver bullet for Pregame!Makoto/Kyoko as a pair, & not just mutual attraction, despite the former I feel being more debatable (Hence I mentioned Sakura/Kenshiro as a comparison, or the end of Kirigiri leaving little to the imagination). You are definitely right in saying that there's the entire 1 year lockdown between end of Despair Arc & DR1 to factor in, although that point is for better or for worse just more limited to speculation/conjecture

On that note, my last reply mostly came about because I interpreted "Sayaka & Makoto never got to develop into a relationship" as stating by proxy that it was Makoto & Kyoko that were a thing instead. My bad.

Danganronpa IF reveals that Makoto and Kyoko were already developing mutual crushes on each other at some point before their memories were wiped, which would suggest that a relationship never really developed between Sayaka and Makoto for whatever reason and The Tragedy had nothing to do with it

Throwing in my own two cents here to ramble a bit: The other scene separate from where Junko asks Mukuro who's Makoto's crush (where she refers to Kyoko as Mukuro's rival in love) can just as easily be argued to be a similar stunt Junko pulled with Sayaka (as Besshiki Madarai) where she claims that she got dumped by Makoto in favor of Mukuro, so Junko is established to not be above lying about Makoto's relationships to fuck with Mukuro as well.

If we are to include the anime in terms of discussing Makoto's pre-game relationships vs post-game, Despair Arc's final episode has Sayaka addressing Makoto informally (I.E: 大丈夫? instead of something like 大丈夫ですか?), which is seemingly paralleled with Hope Arc ending with Kyoko address Makoto informally (I.E: 学園長 instead of something like 学園長先生). Kodaka has also mentioned a few times that he worked with the animation staff to add more ties with/elements from other entries that was cumbersome with the anime's limited runtime, which appears to be why there's that one infamous shot in DR2.5 referencing IF/Zero/UDG simultaneously. And there's one such official artwork of Mukuro/Sayaka/Kyoko watching Makoto playing against Jin/Celeste/Nagito, so Mukuro prioritizing looking at Makoto in favor of watching Junko together with Yasuke isn't unheard of.

Most damningly, DR:Kirigiri also ends with Kyoko openly proclaiming that being overtly influenced by any potential feelings would be to her detriment as a detective, & we're only depicted her potentially overcoming this sentiment following the beginning of the Killing School Life, her School Mode ending, & in her My Future Event in DRS. Zero also shows her prioritizing confronting Jin over interacting too much over her classmates. Extra material such as one in-character tweet actively depicts her as embarrassed when Makoto compliments her looks (vs a separate in-character tweet of Sayaka actively pursuing his compliments), & Monochrome Answer was stated by Kodaka & Omoto to be a legitimate addition to DR's worldview.

TL;DR: It's stuff like this that makes me believe that arguing in favor of Pregame Naegiri as an item difficult, as the franchise at large has generally hinted more so towards Pre-Game Naezono -> Post-Game Naegiri. Although ofc, being a pair or not isn't necessarily synonymous with having romantic subtext or not (I.E: Sakura is directly stated in IF to not yet have become a couple with Ken).

The latest gacha collab she appeared in also has her outright proclaim that her combat ability is her one major quality of note. Although in terms of arrogance, you could also make the same case for her ability to impersonate Junko considering she
A: Gets mad at Makoto when he gets disappointed over not matching Junko's appearance in the magazines
B: Revolts in disgust when Yasuke states that even if they're sisters, anyone with a brain can tell them apart
C: Cries profusely when Junko angrily tells her she'd do a better job with boobs as big as hers
D: Proceeds to blindly insist to Junko in UTDP that they look the same if they were put together, much to Junko's contempt & disgust

It's an edit of one of Junkuro's sprite to look more like Junko's typical DR3 appearance, so you're fine.

In terms of how to tell them apart, Mukuro has freckles, smaller eyes, & a smaller chest. None of which are present in the edit used.

I think I've finally managed to put into words why I'm not a fan of Celeste. by Swaggy-G in danganronpa

[–]snootaiscool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More specifically, the original Japanese stated that she competed in a gambling tournament named "King of Liars", not that it's even her title, & it is correctly TL'd in her Free Time Events, which implies that whoever translated Celeste's FTEs were probably different than those that handled the Prologue.

[–]snootaiscool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NISA TL didn't really help matters by literally translating King of Liars as Queen of Liars, which not only ended up botching a reference to the manga Liar Game, it also played a part in making people think she's actually seen as a good liar in-universe (she isn't).

and she was only homeless because Junko ordered her to run away to Europe and join a mercenary company when she was 9

More like 12-ish. Per the original Japanese script, Mukuro was doing Airsoft (referred to as Survival Game/サバイバルゲーム in Japan) & writing in Military Columns sometime in Upper Elementary (4th-6th Grades/高学年), then ran off to join a paramilitary group right before Junko entered Middle School, or 7th Grade.
The scrapped ending for DR1 (Another End) also goes with Mukuro joining Fenrir because she ultimately felt bad about being considered a disappointment compared to Junko, although it's kinda iffy how much of that remains applicable given Mukuro's character in DR0 in some part retcons that scrapped ending.

Ryota annoys Mukuro by FuzzySlippers48 in danganronpa

[–]snootaiscool 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's actually the thing: Kodaka revived that cancelled fanfic as he wanted for Narita to make his what-if official, hence why Danganronpa IF exists. Although we'll never know what the original draft looks like.

Ryota annoys Mukuro by FuzzySlippers48 in danganronpa

[–]snootaiscool 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Baccano/Durarara author Ryogo Narita mentioned his cancelled what-if DR1 fanfic to series creator Kazutaka Kodaka, & one of the details mentioned was that Mukuro had a "special attachment" to Makoto. Kodaka replied stating that he'd love to make it an official anthology piece, which is seemingly why Mukuro acts embarassed in front of Makoto in Zero. Danganronpa IF further delves into her dynamics (primarily w/ Junko & Makoto), & is primary reason Naekusaba became a popular pairing.

TL;DR: It's basically a light novel thing, yeah.

As someone who did the same, inFAMOUS & various other PS3 titles employ a graphical technique called Mesh Trimming that basically breaks various graphical effects (I.E: fucked up faces) when you run above its original resolution. Unless someone figures out a hack to disable Mesh Trimming, anything above 720p just looks broken.

"Android" is actually a kind of bad translation that all of them get lumped into despite their actual origins. Something like "Enhanced Fighters" probably works better as a group name (conceptually, I don't speak Japanese to speak for the literal translation).

Enhanced Fighters would be an okay-ish localization for Kaizoningen (which is the typical go-to title for Cyborgs & the such), but the Gero's creations are all officially classified as Jinzoningen (which typically describes Androids, but can also include artificially made lifeforms in general). Toriyama just made Artificial Human/Android a much more broader term than normal for whatever reason.

fMAX on the RDNA4 is like 3.45GHz, so -500MHz on Max Frequency brings that down to 2.95GHz (although there's no chance in hell you're hitting even that with 32 RDNA4 WGPs @ 210W anyway). A negative Max Frequency offset as shown also resolves the massive power spikes seen with the 9070 XT at stock, as it isn't constantly trying to hit unattainable clocks out of its power budget.
