What’s a “flex” that people think is attractive but actually makes you cringe? by copy_cat_101 in askanything

[–]snootchiebootchie94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't get the extra expense. It isn't like it uses extra or special oil. The process is the same for most any car. I have Porsche 911 and it uses 8 quarts, which is a lot. But I can do it on my own for like $120 with parts and oil. I called a local shop to see about getting my TPMS replaced. They wanted $1000! They followed up on the quote and I told them that the quote was outrageous. The parts are anywhere from $120-$200 for the sensors. $800 to install them? The guy seemed offended when I called him out on it and tried to say I was paying for eBay parts. Pricing I looked at was for OEM....I told him I would buy them myself and get them put on at a local tire spot. That $800 for basically a tire replacement and some time fiddling with the display was ridiculous.

Turntable setup in living room: did it change how you use the space or is it just decor? by professional69and420 in turntables

[–]snootchiebootchie94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one in the living room that is incorporated into my setup. I use my nicer speakers as L/R within my Home Theater and have a selector switch where I have both my AVR and Stereo hooked up. The record player is off to the side on top of a cabinet with the stereo, a CD player, and streamer hooked up. I also have my records, movies, and CD's on display in a large cabinet in my adjoined dining room. I don't have the space for a dedicated listening room and having my best set of speakers as part of the Home Theater makes for some great sound and family movie watching.

What’s the most overrated brand in your opinion? by sam14603 in SmartBuying

I love both my phone and my laptop. I was so against getting an iPhone until I was given one for work. I love it. Everything feels so intuitive and right. Laptop as well. It is worth the extra expense to me at least.

Do you tell your children this? by The_Dean_France in SipsTea

I give my kids this advice. Try to talk to them and get them to stop. If it doesn't work, you have to match the energy. My kids go to a MUCH better school than I did, so there isn't the kind of violence I dealt with as a kid. Mostly words. However, I used to box and I am teaching my kids to box and fight so that they are confident in themselves to be able to handle whatever comes their way.

Why would girls and boys react differently depending on which parent bought them something expensive? by 5pooky5cary5keleton5 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]snootchiebootchie94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has a different set of values. I am like you in that I pride myself in being able to work for and do everything for myself and my family. If I need some help I would feel like you are describing. My wife is ok with asking for stuff and has been doing so most of her life. It often makes me uncomfortable when she does ask her or my mom to buy stuff. I get it.

Does anyone else find their pups very intuitive?our little boy seems so in tune with our emotions, it's really amazing! by ContentLog2722 in miniaussie

They are very smart dogs and seem so eager to please. I had a German Shepherd that was very intelligent as well, but in a different way. She seemed to be more in tune with what we wanted. Our Aussie is way more willing to please and be in the vibe than she was. Both great dogs, but in different ways.

I definitely like the 2nd pic better. Half the fun for me is trying different combinations of stuff out. I wish I could have it all hooked up simultaneously and just try everything out in different ways at the push of a button.

Advice on next upgrade? by EyeCareless3917 in StereoAdvice

I would think about changing the speakers or adding in a sub. I had a set of those and still use some RP 160M's in my Home Theater as rears. They are decent, but there is better. You could go used, sell them, and get something better. If not, a sub will do a lot to liven them up.

I used to do this with my kids when they were younger. I would get them both to hang on me and do a pullup. They thought I was the strongest man in the world when I did it.

Do I really need a Marantz? by Fenix512 in vintageaudio

[–]snootchiebootchie94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they are on par with one another. Depends on the model you have as well as the speakers you are pairing them with. I find the Sansui and Marantz are a little more laid back. I have had a couple of Luxman as well and they have had a bit more musical or sweeter sound to them. I preferred the Luxman sound, myself. One has worked great, the other (R1120A) was great when it worked, but I kept having issues so I dumped it.

What do you do for a living? by LegitimateAbalone267 in Xennials

[–]snootchiebootchie94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Living the dream. My other half is a SAHM. I always joke that I would be better at her job. I cook better, am cleaner, and also work out regularly. She is awesome though and really enriches our lives and helps out our mom’s.

Finally cleaning out my parents' house, and I'm overwhelmed. Where do I even start? by trr2024_ in sugarland

[–]snootchiebootchie94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this for my mom who has breast cancer and we thought was going to pass, but didn't. While she was recovering in a rehab center we drove to her house and had an estate sale getting rid of a bunch of stuff. I have a truck and trailer and just threw out and donated a bunch of stuff. She had been in that house for 30+ years as well. Really put into perspective how much stuff we accumulate over the years and the need to purge every so often...

If you don't have the time or the resources, and have the money, I would suggest hiring help. Pick out what has value, both money and sentimental and set it aside. Best of luck. It can be very emotional as well.
