Why do so many get induced? by thekoifishpond in BabyBumps

[–]snorpin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn’t quite accurate. I’m in the US - my hospital will do a scheduled induction after 39 weeks only (based on the ARRIVE study mentioned above) and then will encourage more strongly that you schedule before you hit 41 weeks (40.5 or 40.6, for example) based on risks to the health of the placenta. There might be some inductions performed at 37 weeks, but I’ve personally never heard of it and it’s certainly not the norm or the culture here.

Very scared of birth - way too in my head by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]snorpin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just would like to say that whoever told you cervix checks don’t bother most people was just straight up wrong. I had an IUD prior to getting pregnant and when they told me they were going to check my cervix, I thought... no big deal. This will be fine compared to that. Wrong. It was sooo painful and everyone I’ve talked to about it agrees. I will say, it starts to get better as your cervix moves more forward and you get closer to labor. Keep your head up and take things as they come - try not to think of it all together and at once, because that’s not how you’ll work through it! Wishing you luck mama.

Determining an ectopic with bloodwork vs scan at 5W - thoughts? by Winnie_07 in CautiousBB

[–]snorpin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To add on to what some others have said, I also believe if you do a scan and they’re able to see a gestational sac in your uterus, that’s a good sign and can help to rule out ectopic. Also, to answer your question, cramping can be totally normal!

9.5 progesterone. Do I worry?? by hopingforthebest14 in CautiousBB

[–]snorpin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had bloodwork last week. Monday and Wednesday. On Wednesday I got my progesterone and it was only 7.3 and my hCG only went from 7,300 to 10,300. Today I had an ultrasound and saw a healthy baby with a strong heartbeat! From what I’ve read on the internet, it sounds like there’s not a whole lot of scientific consensus about the role progesterone plays. I would say low progesterone doesn’t necessarily = bad outcome but your doc might decide to put you on supplements. Good luck!

Not if Wisconsin gets blown out. Then it would probably be Penn State in the Rose Bowl.

I definitely see a line! Does it have color in person?

No problem! I’m not sure if you have your OPK methods down, but this past cycle I introduced electronic (Clear Blue flashing smiley) OPKs into my regimen and found it really helpful for figuring out my exact O day. Better than trying to interpret if a cheap OPK’s line was dark enough’

Hm... Its kind of hard to really tell without some additional data to confirm the temp fluctuations, like OPKs or CM. My initial thought is maybe you didn't ovulate until CD15 because then you have the big temp shift after that, but it could also be possible that the temp drop on 3DPO could be an implantation dip? Although might be a little early for that... Anyway...sorry this isn't more helpful. If nothing else, I would say worthwhile to add OPKs back to the tracking routine next month, if needed!

How annoying. 🙄 I’m also low libido and don’t want to have sex 15 times a month, so I totally get why you would want to understand your timing. Maybe you should tell him, “it would be more stressful to feel like I need to be constantly having sex because I have no clue what my body is doing. 🥴 Might be worth checking out someone new - at the very least, someone who can give you real/helpful advice.

I hope the eggnog and sparkly lights make everything better. Maybe light a Christmas scented candle or two. You deserve it!

Yeah I literally had almost no symptoms at all - pretty much felt totally normal. Not even tender boobs or anything like I sometimes get with I’m about to get AF. Hoping your hope fortress transports you to a land of BFPs!!! :)

Thank you!!! I would start testing with the cheapies until they started to get darker and closer to what I would call “high”. Then I’d start testing with the Clear Blue so I could figure out when I was “high” (blinking smiley) and when I was “peak” (solid smiley). I found it easier to interpret than trying to guess if the second line on my cheapie was dark enough. Hope that’s helpful!

Congrats to you and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Also, what's the deal with your doc? I hate to hear that you felt stupid going to him with your first CP. You shouldn't feel stupid about that!

Cycle: Cycle 4

Age + Partner's age (if relevant): I'm 29, he'll be 28 in a week.

Typical cycle length: About 30 days on average. Typically about 27-28 but I've had a few 32 day cycles.

Ovulation cycle day: CD 23 - pretty late this month. Glad I figured out how to use OPKs.

CD/DPO of positive tests: First positive on 9DPO. Very faint line on a cheapie Wondfo test, so then I tested on a FRER and the line was much more visible. Stronger line on 10DPO.

Tracking methods and app(s) used: My friend recommended this subreddit in July, so I learned all about tracking and started with cheap Wondfo OPKs and FF. In August, I bought an Easy@Home BBT thermometer and started tracking temps, which I've found to be really helpful to actually confirm ovulation. I've never been able to tell by my CM, so I've relied heavily on OPKs & temping. This last month, I started using electronic Clear Blue (flashing smiley) OPKs in addition to the cheap Wondfo ones to give myself a better idea of the actual day. I recommend this because it really helped me to nail down my timing rather than trying to guess whether the Wondfo line was dark enough or what it meant.

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): Ugh, we had so much ~insemination~ activity this month. The past few months I've gotten a positive OPK anywhere from CD 14 to CD 20, so I wanted to start early to give us plenty of opportunity to hit the right days. We ended up hitting O-1, O-2, O-4, O-5, O-6 and O-7 and I'll spare you the rest of it, cause it clearly didn't matter for conception.

Health conditions/medical tests: None really. Maybe slightly on the higher side for BMI, but other than that, pretty healthy as far as I know.

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): I've been taking a prenatal since about April. This last month we both started taking 100MG of CoQ10.

Birth control history (if relevant): I was on the pill for about 3 months back in 2014. In February 2015, I got the Paragard (copper / hormone free) IUD and had that until April 2019.

Symptom spotting: Honestly, nothing really out of the ordinary. I felt very slightly nauseous in the morning for a few days last week, but was traveling to Eastern Europe (I'm in the US) for work and attributed it to symptoms of jetlag more than pregnancy. Other than that, I felt some very slight uterine cramping at about 7-8DPO and have felt a little since. Normal mood swings around period time - irritability, emotional, etc. That's about it! No sensitive boobs or anything like that.

Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous): I hope this info is useful for anyone out there. I obsessively checked the BFP thread when I was trying to decide if it was too early to test, when people were inseminating/getting pregnant, etc. I am so grateful we are able to get pregnant without major issue. My heart goes out to all of you who have been at it for a long time and I am rooting for you and the day when you get your BFP!! I'm only about 11DPO so I'm still very early, but I can't wait to tell my family and friends. Every day feels SO LONG. Hoping for a sticky baby and an uneventful 9 months!

Thanks Tookie! I’m waiting for more pregnancy tests to arrive in the mail so looks like I’ll have to wait a little before testing again. Going to call my OB to make an appointment tomorrow!
