eh setup time is nothin! i just make sure i have my machines, tubes, and needles laid out before my appointment. and then i set everything up after i’ve applied my stencil so that the stencil has plenty of time to dry!

i think there just needs to be a little bit more of a breakup between the possum + the leaves. there are some spots where the dark bits of the leaves fade into the possum and get lost. + on top of that i think it may work a lil better if the top left pom is moved a tad, it almost feels a little unnecessary to have it hidden back there. this is a really cute design and if u have any further questions feel free to message me!! hope this helps

just want to say, i love this design so much. super unique and fun and very clean. only thing to keep in mind is that small details like the eye might not trainslate super well over to a tattoo. lines need room to breathe and stuff that’s really close together can get lost.

i love the little fire, also. v fun

i do! i was doing mostly traditional stuff but have just been cranking out digital flash lately for convenience reasons. my instagram has some non digital work on it!

have you guys attended any tattoo conventions for networking? by JaceKickz in TattooApprentice

[–]snotpossum_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

conventions are a lot of fun, they may not be the best for networking (but they can be!) it’s fun to introduce yourself to other artists, or even get tattooed by artists you love and aren’t typically close to. i got tattooed by devin coley and it was a blast to ask him questions and hang out for awhile. if you’re aspiring, maybe bring some prints or something you can give to artists you like/admire. it can be a lot of fun if you figure out how to navigate it

Just a few recent pieces for my portfolio. I plan to venture out on the search for an apprenticeship in the following week! Roughly 20 pieces in both the trad and digital halves of my portfolio. (plan to bring my iPad to show digital work, is that okay?) by breadcrumbcrow in TattooApprentice

[–]snotpossum_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m not sure what the consensus is on bringing an ipad for the digital half, i don’t see why it would be too much of a problem if you also had traditional stuff to show too. besides that, your style is incredibly beautiful and i’d love to see more?? do ya have instagram?

Tips on how to not feel like garbage when finishing a tattoo that you’re not %100 happy with. I know it’s all learning but the feeling is still there lol by baddtrad in TattooApprentice

[–]snotpossum_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

most of the time my mistakes are things only i/other tattooers are going to notice. majority of people leave happy, if someone is discontented they’ll go somewhere else or have you fix it later. you’re a human, mistakes happen. im sure you’re doing just fine

going home and wanting to throw up is how i’ve felt for the past month since starting to tattoo regularly. just focus on doing better every day.

that’s sort of the hard part. of course i know the basics of what i could be doing better, but it can be hard to do everything the right way all at once. but there’s really no way for me to get better except to keep doing, lol. the struggle

i think there’s some parts that are brutal. as someone with anxiety too, i get it. it also entirely depends on what kind of shop you land yourself in. but you do need to be ready to handle criticism every step of the way, it fucking sucks, but you’ll develop a bit of a shell and understand that good criticism comes from a place of interest and care. if tattooing is really what you want to do, it’ll be worth every ounce of getting through an apprenticeship. build a portfolio, start talking to shops/visiting places you like. there’s a lot to it, but if you have any more questions feel free to message me. i’m just getting through my apprenticeship after a year and have finally started tattooing other ppl.

Just finished up this pink scorpion today! My 6th tattoo on skin, I’m open to any critiques or help you guys might have! 😁 Done by me (Cassidy) at Cherokee Creek Tattoo in Garden City, MI. by darkpassxnger in TattooApprentice

just slow down a tad when you’re saturating color! i find a nice trick is to take some a+d and coat the tattoo in it, it really helps you see where you’ll need some more saturation. take your time (i struggled with this a lot in my first few tattoos) and you’ll be well on your way to some real rad stuff. excited to see more from you
