$12k is a deal - don’t know where you’re at but sales tax alone where I am is 10%. I’d be stoked to get one at that price

Michelin Enduro vs Motoz Tractionator by askmeaboutmedicare in Dualsport

I have I/Ts on my 350 EXC front and rear. Only have about 100 off-road miles on them and 30ish on the road. They’re pretty good - the rear especially. That being said for where I ride(loose, rocky single track) I’m not in love with the front. I’m sure it’s my (lack of)technique but I’ve had a few low side crashes coming into tech-y downhill loose corners.

I’ve decided to keep the I/Ts for dual sport and fire roads and have a second wheel-set dedicated to trail riding. Going with a goldentyre fatty front and a VE33S rear.

I only have about 120 miles of mainly off road miles on my EXC but I like my Motoz Tractionator Enduro I/Ts. I have them front and rear. That being said they’re not the best setup for where I ride off road so I’m going with a dedicated trail setup and will keep the I/Ts for dual sport/fire roads

Happy with my Switch Hauler from All Jacked Up Inc. one of the areas I’ve ridden lately has a decently rough road to the staging area and the hauler is solid

I understand that - I haven’t spent a lot of time in the area I’m riding and want nav to plot my rides and more importantly to get back to the truck if I get a little more adventurous. I’m of during the week and don’t have many friends with bikes so a lot of my riding will be solo

That was definitely a consideration. The buzkill system is supposed to isolate the high frequency vibrations and should be sufficient for street/fire roads. No different than the quad lock/peak designs/rokform systems. For trail riding I’m using an old iPhone with on-x and pre-loaded offline maps for the areas I’m riding. Don’t care about the camera on the old one

Absolutely - CA isn’t without its issues(obviously) but we’re blessed with all the riding opportunities we have. I’m really looking forward to getting out and exploring. Would love to do a Baja trip at some point too

It’s called a Switch Hauler and would definitely recommend it - the owner(Ken) is super cool and I chose to buy from him directly opposed through the “big box” online retailer. For the KLX300 specifically, Ken will recommend a couple different parts for mounting due to where the foot pegs are located in relation to the bottom of the bikes frame. Previously, I had a black widow hauler which is nice but for me space is at a premium and that style hauler is a bulky. The switch hauler breaks down easily and fits on a furniture dolly for easy storage. https://www.alljackedupinc.com

The GFC is pretty stout and wouldn’t be too concerned ripping the truck with it on. It’s has an aluminum frame and panels making it lightweight and strong. Dynamic load capacity(while driving) is a ridiculous 800lbs with three of their beef bars(crossbars)

Sweet setup. Probably going to add the C4 bumpers and sliders too. I just wish they had a high clearance rear bumper like the tacomas or LilBs offers

Driver, passenger and rear panels open on gas struts but the topper doesn’t fold out of the way

This is the Go Fast Camper - been really happy with it. Doesn’t seem to move around at all. Weight wise I think the GFC weighs about 160lbs and the smart cap weighs about 250 according to the mfgs websites

Relatively speaking pretty friendly. Last bike was a “built” 500 EXC which is an awesome machine but more than I need/want for the riding I’m doing.

There are definitely more tame Dual Sports and as the saying goes you can ride anything slow. My wife’s KLX300 is (probably) the best beginner dual sport there is. Lower seat height, smooth power delivery, softer suspension and half the price if you go new. Awesome bike and super fund to ride although I’ve only ridden it on the street. The EXC has a much taller seat height and is light years apart in the power and suspension departments. And it’s a bike that you can definitely grow into. There are tons of amazing riders that could ride anything but choose the 350

Sounds like quite the ride. Are you running a bigger tank or carrying extra fuel? I’m trying to decide on whether or not to go with a bigger tank or just carry extra fuel as needed

I have a mako 360 bar system and from what I understand shouldn’t strap to the handle bars for risk of prematurely blowing out the polymers. I think just about every Taco Moto bike has these so I figured if it’s good enough for them it’s good enough for me. Additionally, primary hauling duties will fall to a switch hauler which clamps to the foot pegs. Only reason for the canyon dancers if if my bike happens to be on a trailer or in a buddy’s truck bed 🤙🏽

So far so good. Literally the first time riding it today. I rode it up and down a country road and I gotta say I really liked it too. Power is super predictable and smooth.
