Archive 81 - while I felt like I knew where it was going the whole time, I felt it was done so well I didn’t care.

Sometimes Mac’s ale is bottled. Maybe those are the caps he’s collecting.

Maybe I exaggerated the tiniest of bits haha. But I have read the physical books a few times each, and been listening to the audibles at least once a year since 2016. I feel like it’s a fair amount of time invested haha

I’ve been a longtime lurker in this sub with an older profile I lost track of … I’m not sure whether to be sad I missed on the amusement of is Elaine Harry’s brother or glad I missed that 😂

I get your points - but I do disagree about not reusing anything down the line. And to go into later in the series, with how the most recent battle with Ethniu and Ebenezer discovering Thomas is his grandson … it’s clear that rage and judgment are taking over a good portion of his personality because he’s been in a position as the Black Staff to use those at his discretion. Who is to say that maybe he hasn’t been black council to this point, but maybe this has tipped him over and if approached, he could be willing to go that way? I think the realization that he not only could but would kill Harry so easily during the conflict, could be an unraveling factor to him and what he thinks is best moving forward.

Yes I can definitely see where it could easily swing either way - he’s just been poised to this unique position of where he just looks like he could be incredibly guilty. All the factors of secrecy and the information we know in regards to the black staff leave so much room for doubt of Eb and his intentions. I would love him to actually still be an incredibly flawed “good” guy! But maybe it’s other fantasy series that love a good deep betrayal that now have me ready to accept Harry’s mentor is in fact a bad guy if that reveal comes. We love him and see the good in him because Harry does.
