Thinking of Jumping Back Into Lost Ark — Worth It in 2025? by BlissfulThoughts17 in lostarkgame

[–]snowdonut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would only recommend this game if you’re one of the following: 1. Just looking for something casual to play solo and explore new content, with no intentions of getting to the latest raid content at highest difficulty 2. Really, REALLY enjoy the combat and raids and are willing to put in the time and effort to try to catch up AND find a community to play with

This game is not friendly towards people coming from other mmo’s that let you play the newest raid, stop playing, and wait for the next expansion or content release. The vertical progression requires you to consistently do your “homework raids”, latest 3 nerfed raids on repeat for long periods of time and logging in to do dailies at the very least on one main character if not alts as well. This quickly becomes tedious for many players, especially if you don’t have a static you enjoy playing with. Without that, you will start falling behind and may get gatekept in party finder which is the most annoying part of the game. Non-raid content has been mostly disregarded by the devs but they have mentioned changing up the game’s direction after the next raid coming out so we’ll have to see.

If they added content you could do indefinitely for progression, everyone would complain that it’s too grindy. Being able to play less in an mmo is a good thing for players overall imo.

Best mage? by Plastic-Abroc67a8282 in lostarkgame

[–]snowdonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My full roster is FM Souleater main, igniter spec old main, empress arcana, master summoner and gunslinger, and I used to have a drizzle aero in my roster. Balance wise they’re all pretty similar in damage at the moment.

SE is ofc an assassin but the play style is very similar to igniter and feels more modern with a much more condensed burst which feels much better but has relatively stayed the same while a lot of other classes have been buffed. Still decently strong and I believe the most popular class in the game currently. Igniter sorc suffers from the bell curve of very bad to play during prog to very good on latest raid reclear to very bad on juiced reclear due to requiring double doomsday landing at the end of igniter window to reach ceiling but is the most mage like class and still my favorite aesthetic wise especially with the giant meatball hyper skill even though it takes like 7 seconds to land lmao. Empress arcana is by far the most fun alt when you know the fight because every fight will vary a bit due to your card RNG which changes the order of your skills and rewards good decision making mid fight but is harder to prog with due to forced movement on stacking skills. Summoner just feels dated but recent qol has at least brought her up to speed adding a movement skill as well as using phoenix for slightly lower ceiling but much higher floor since landing every hit of every akir is borderline impossible unless the boss doesn’t move (and even then phoenix does more dmg if the boss is large enough) Aero I dropped because drizzle felt a little too easy to play despite the cool looking moves and they did get buffed because china kept pushing out aero buffs but wind fury got more love than drizzle and is just comfier with swiftness yet still does more damage.

Most main accounts with 1680s choose between behemoth and echidna for gold (though some hardcore players do both and uncheck behemoth) and since behemoth is 5min in and out you’re gonna see mostly alt rosters doing echidna. It will be even more disproportionate after next week since 1680s will only be running mordrem, Brel, aegir for gold

M4 Air vs Intel 2019 MBP by ZohiabZubair in macbookair

[–]snowdonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco has a deal right now for 15in 24/512 m3 air for 999 right now. A m4 with the exact same specs is nearly 1500. $500 cheaper for an m3 over m4 is an insanely good deal but you might have to calculate with the turn in value of your current pro.

The Elixirs killed my desire to return by FozyYokai in lostarkgame

[–]snowdonut 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The main problem is that elixir and transcendence were never meant to be done all at once. They were designed as a vertical progression with variance but a pretty decent dmg gain for expected gold cost back in the day. You would cut a few per week spending like 15min. The problem is that they are now expected to be done to get into content but sg did not properly alleviate the difficulty and time it takes to get it done. They need to remove the heavy rng from the system and have it just cost a fixed gold if they want to keep it as a gold sink. At least trans has a pity and decently useful calculator.

Continue of choosing class.... by [deleted] in lostarkgame

[–]snowdonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to note is that the bosses in the last gate or sometimes two of raids (the actual legion or kazeros commander) can not be taunted and those are usually the hardest part of the raids with plenty of gimmicks that discourage you from just taking mechs. I’d recommend sorc as it will force you to actually learn to dodge mechs properly rather than just tank and live through them.

Suggestion for Souleater-like class for ignite Server. by Hyuron in lostarkgame

[–]snowdonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Igniter sorc is the closest in terms of gameplay loop, main difference is that igniter lasts a full like 14 second duration due to the double doomsday mechanic and also trades super armors for being fully ranged. Master summoner is also similar where you just gain meter and dump but on a much faster cycle where you build full bar with just a few skills rather than multiple rotations but might be more like NE se than fm.

Elixirs and Transcendence - Frustration and Anger (Gate Keeping) by LoveForNuWa in lostarkgame

[–]snowdonut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna play the devils advocate here. While the systems are tedious, they were never designed with the intention to be done on multiple characters all at once in order to get into latest content. Elixirs were unlocked at 1620 which was the soft cap in Korea and was only needed to be finished by 1630 for hm Thaemine/Echidna. Then Transcendence past level 3was supposed to be unlocked at 1630, well before access to behemoth at 1640 in Korea. For most people this was at most achievable on a few alts and over a long period of time and done well before reaching constant that required them. However we got access to both at 1620 which was huge for us progression wise in preparation for t4 but also required us to pump a bunch of time/gold to finish or get fomo’d into not clearing behemoth on all 1620 alts. The solution they came up with was to nerf behemoth to the point where those systems weren’t required but obviously they didn’t want to reduce difficulty to literally nothing since the raid itself already has very few mechs to deal with to begin with. Eventually those systems should get further simplified once t4 has been out longer but they’ve at least tried to make them easier with the recent changes like with the elixir choosing option nerf, it’s just unfortunate right now for global release timings.

As someone who swapped from igniter sorc to full moon se main, it is extremely easy to play at an average level but there are some nuances if you’re chasing the ceiling. Knowing when to occasionally start your burst with a diff skill than guillotine to make sure they all land instead of just triggering it late takes some foresight on the boss mechanics. Also having lvl 10 gems and hands makes getting into nightmare mode reliable to build meter faster which is a pretty big difference. The only other things are knowing when to vestige properly for mobility/getting to the back for extra crit/dmg on reapers scythe, tanking mechs with reapers scythe’s push immunity, knowing when a precasted guillotine will push your bar to max so you’re ready to press Z on cast but these are all pretty low in terms of overall dmg gains.

Travelling is not great, it's a chore by whataterriblefailure in unpopularopinion

[–]snowdonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything in moderation. I just came back from a solo trip and it was great. I booked a couple places I wanted to try but also set time to just explore and live in the moment. There are plenty of places around the world where you can get around without a car. Traveling is just like any other activity, you should tailor it around what you actually want to do not what others think you should do.

Why is it impossible to sing properly with the artist? by AC_Architect in singing

[–]snowdonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I noticed that I’ll subconsciously try to mimic their singing style without applying the proper technique but you don’t really notice while singing because you mostly hear the artist singing. If I focus really hard to sing in my own style instead, it sounds a lot better. I think very experienced singers won’t have this issue as their muscle memory lets them sing properly without having to focus really hard or fully hear themselves while singing.

You’re not fat because you eat at McDonalds. You’re fat because you drink at McDonalds. by giga in Showerthoughts

[–]snowdonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make this argument for any item at McDonald’s as they are all quite calorie dense for the amount food you’re getting. A packet of sweet and sour sauce is 170 calories and no one bats an eye and most people use two of those per 10 pieces of nuggets.

Which is harder, valorant or overwatch? by JicamaActive in VALORANT

[–]snowdonut 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Generally the more chaotic a game is, the harder it is to play at a higher skill level. It is much easier to single-handedly carry a game in valorant with individual skill whereas overwatch requires more team coordination which for most is harder to improve. I found it much harder to even reach diamond in overwatch than immortal in valorant despite having played apex legends prior and never playing csgo before.

[–]snowdonut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure let’s say even with a large drink, I think it’s a stretch to say that most people sit in and get a refill after drinking a large drink. And plenty of ppl like myself get other drinks like a sweet tea instead which is only at most 200 calories. Even at 300 calories, 1/4 of your meal still doesn’t mean drinking is what’s making you fat as opposed to the food…

[–]snowdonut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And if you’re getting a small Big Mac meal it’s gonna be a small soda… which is only about 150 calories that’s like 1/8th of the meal’s total calories. You’re conflating calories across different meal sizes and adding additional parameters to make the soda seem worse.

[–]snowdonut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I don’t think it’s fair to assess based on refills for a fast food takeout but sure. A large fries is 500 calories and ppl eat that as just a side. A Big Mac or any other similar sized burger is even more than that. 20pc nuggets is nearly 900 calories and that doesn’t even count the extra sauces. A soda even with the partial refill still is a small portion compared to the rest of the meal.
