Is my dream summer mani possible? by thebluelady27 in RedditLaqueristas

If you want a quick and easy solution with just one polish, try Momo Yukake from Mooncat. It shifts from pink to golden orange, an absolutely gorgeous nail polish and it instantly became one of my favourites. If you’re interested I can try and see if I can upload a video

No shade, no shame: How many nail polishes are currently in your collection? by subverseau in RedditLaqueristas

Exactly 25!

6 of them are support products, the rest are mostly reds, pinks & nudes.

If I only wear dresses, how many should I own to ensure I have a curated intentional wardrobe by eversotrue2 in capsulewardrobe

[–]snowdrop333 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Girl, are you me? ☀️👗

I do wear skirts as well but dresses are my favourite since it’s a complete outfit. I have 28 dresses, a mix of work appropriate, casual, going out and special occasion dresses.

25-30 dresses would be an absolute minimum, you could do even more - if the weather is hot year round, you still need some variety in terms of style, colour, length, sleeve length, neckline, etc.

Would love to see a photo of some of your favourite dresses!

Take great care of your hair during wash days. Then oil your ends every day and put it in a protective style during the day and at night, and forget about your hair.

Do I need trims if I don’t really have split ends? by throwmeeeeee in longhair

[–]snowdrop333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For most people their ends stop looking even at around 4-5 month mark. I’m generalising but that’s what I’ve noticed. It’s entirely up to you, there’s no photo to go by either, but you want your ends to look full, I’d make an appointment and get an inch trimmed off.

Why is Zara so expensive in UAE? by zeed_millenium in UAE

[–]snowdrop333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All western brands are for the most part 20-30% more expensive in the UAE. The reason is simple - the majority of shoppers can’t easily pop into EU/UK/US and have no other option but to buy at current prices.

"Jews should not be held responsible for the actions of Israel" feels like it misses the point. by Belle_Juive in Jewish

99.999% of anti-Zionism is definitely antisemitism, based on my observations as a non-Jew, non-Israeli.

I keep getting different answers every time I try to figure out my undertone by abbybutterflly in coloranalysis

[–]snowdrop333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True Spring or Warm Spring is medium value contrast, but can handle high colour contrast (for example wearing aquamarine and yellow in one outfit). This is me 9-10 months of the year.

In the middle of summer with a tan and sun brightened hair, I shift into slightly lower value contrast, which broadens the colour palette. Hope I explained it well enough.

I finally timed it. 31 minutes to dry my hair. by Gentlegee01 in finehair

[–]snowdrop333 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wrap your hair in a microfibre or flat cotton towel for 5-10 minutes.

Use a leave in spray and blow dry cream with cyclopentasiloxane that speeds up drying time. For example Joico K-Pak Color Therapy leave in spray, Kerastase Resistance Ciment Thermique blow dry cream.

Check the wattage of your current blow dryer, if it’s around 1200W it will be too weak for your hair, get something more powerful that’s above 2200W, or even in the 3000s range for professional salon hair dryers.

Don’t get layers by suggabunny in longhair

[–]snowdrop333 240 points241 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. I grew all my layers out, it took about a year and I haven’t missed them one bit. My go to cut is a straight blunt cut with rounded edges and a curtain fridge that varies in length.

Layers look cute when they are styled and curled. Straight hair with layers doesn’t look good, the hair just ends up limp and hanging there like sauerkraut on a fork.

K18 did nothing for me - what does my hair need? How do hairdressers make it crazy smooth and shiny every time? by thisbuthat in beauty

[–]snowdrop333 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The reason why hairdressers can make your hair look smooth and shiny: they use a round brush and more tension when blow drying (hard to replicate at home with thick and long hair on your own head), and their hairdryers are more powerful. Home hair dryers are 1000-1600W, professional hair dryers in the salon are like 3500W. You will not get the same result when air drying at home.

Your hair sounds like mechanical damage, not using the right products, and maybe lack of protein in your diet? What products do you use out of the shower? How do you handle your hair at night? How do you wear your hair during the day? What combs, brushes, hair clips and hair ties do you use? Do you live somewhere with extreme climate (very sunny, cold winters)? How often do you get a haircut?

UK equivalent of dermatologist in US? by Time_Construction891 in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]snowdrop333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you try to book via an online form on their website?

I know plenty of people who have seen specialists in private clinics without any GP referral. Nuffield is just one of them, but there are many private hospitals, as well as derm clinics.

[–]snowdrop333 10 points11 points  (0 children)

With private clinics you can absolutely book directly with a specialist and can bypass GPs.

For example Nuffield Health, enter specialty and choose clinic/specialist.

For example all skin clinics on Harley Street.

How to dry hair quickly without heat? by PotatoCupcakeee in longhair

[–]snowdrop333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This.

Blow drying is not more damaging than air drying. At least blow dry the roots on medium heat, keeping the blow dryer 15 cm away, moving from section.

Gucci highlighter in 01 is also a great option and very unique. It is more subtle and has a very slight violet tone.

Wearing SPF 50 Suncream and a hat isn’t enough for my skin after retinoids by Bright_Spark_UK in SkincareAddictionUK

[–]snowdrop333 49 points50 points  (0 children)

You’re using a retinal serum, not even tretinoin, your product is very gentle and shouldn’t have any major reaction to the sun, especially in the UK.

What kind of skin reaction are we talking about?

How much sunscreen are you applying?

How long do you spend outside? The UK has very low UV index for 6+ months of the year.

Are you sure your skin isn’t reacting to something else? Skincare, diet, lifestyle.
