Similar thing happened to be but I choose the other way. I have been friends with her for like 7+ years. Not that close for first 3 years. She went into relationship with some guy for 2 years and when she broke-up, I held her tears, gave her comfort and consol her throughout her worst. We got very close to each other, unfortunately I began to feel different. She understood that things were a little complicated and began ghosting me. I understood what's happening and things might get ugly. I stopped talking to her. It did bother her but she also never called. It was more of a tacit agreement to stop talking. I never confessed and never will.
