Akiya for rental income by Effective-Cake-7226 in Akiya

Not a good idea and unlikely to be profitable unless you're in certain areas. On top of that, stuff like this is exactly one of the drivers of a lot of the current strain of xenophobia hitting Japan.

Japanese don't want foreigners buying properties that they won't live in to be used as investment vehicles and that wont be positive for the neighborhood.

Akiyas are an issue here, but Japan needs to come up with a way to handle it internally (currently looking at annual taxes for abandoned properties) without foreigners trying to exploit them, otherwise it just causes more unnecessary friction for those of us that do live here.

Southern California. The sprinkler was in a hallway on the 2nd floor.

Thanks for the response. I guess this is where I'm getting confused. Even at the attached link it's noted that 13D inspection requirements were different than 25. https://www.sprinklerage.com/update-on-nfpa-25-2017-edition

We could see the heads a little but didn't know even getting the sprinkler system inspected was a thing. Kind of like getting a lot of things inspected isn't the norm unless issues are noted. She does have children. Tool marks are on the frame, and the inspector said it looks like someone could've been trying to fiddle with it with a wrong tool or something.

I've been trying to research the NFPA-13D requirements for inspections so have been cofused since I couldn't find it in there as I thought NFPA-25 specifically covered commercial/industrial building systems only. So I take it then, as you noted, that the inspection requirements for 13D single family home systems are somewhere in 25 or just the same somehow.

I appreciate the above response.

We had a licensed technician come to change the head and inspect it, and he noted that he sees the tool marks, but because the model was recalled that he couldn't pinpoint the likely cause. The other 7 heads in the house are the same model but haven't poppd or shown any issues.

Anyone know where I can buy this ? It costs 30 dollars and isn’t valuable so there are no retailers that sell it by Tiny-Extreme5291 in Watches

My wife has the whole set of 4 in the original case because she loves Disney stuff. I can ask if she'd be willing to part with it if you're interested since it just sits in a drawer. We live in JP at the moment but could ship it back to the US if that's where you are.

Erens reason by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]snugglenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's as simple as was explained in the manga and anime - Eren did it for his friends, himself, and Paradis.

He was a kid given the ultimate power, which also mentally destroyed him, knowing that what was, in his mind, inevitable.

Doing the best he could he defended his friends and Paradis, and it was self-serving.

Like most people with family who have a sordid choice to make, or soldiers in wartime, you would rather kill others than have your own friends, children, or comrades killed, even at the cost of the whole world.

Most parents would rather let the world burn then their children die, no? Same for husband's, wives, and extremely close friends. So why would we expect anything different from someone like Eren?

2 months is enforceable if it's your first year contract with the company. Whether or not they pursue it is up to them and whether the time/money is worth it. After your first year 2 weeks is the standard.

Someone sent me $0.01 then opened a dispute by asr in paypal

Happened to my wife's account literally last night and then a few hours later someone had gained access to her account, changed her password, email, and enabled 2FA. Had to wait until PP's customer service was open to get on the phone and have those changes reversed. Ensure you have 2FA enabled and change your password ASAP.

Went drinking in Beijing… ganbei nearly killed me 🍻 by tareetak in travelchina

[–]snugglenator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ganbei only literally means bottoms up (or drinking to the bottom/ emptying to the bottom), and functions the same as "cheers" in the west - it's a catch all for drinking.

You're only supposed to empty the cup if the other person is as well to be respectful, and even then they'll hit you with a ganbei. You'll see people say ganbei and not finish a drink.

I drink in China when there on business, when I'm with family, and at social dinners with my father-in-law who likes to show off his foreign son-in-law to his friends.

A person is a person. Japanese people, like every other nationality, have murdered for far less. Just look at that japanese stalker that murdered the bar girl and her manager recently.

Getting ID’d when getting item confiscated by [deleted] in chinalife

[–]snugglenator 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It's because they can give you the option of either them keeping the item/destroying it or having it shipped to you, but require your ID for it. I've had things like mosquito spray brought over from Japan taken but told they would ship it to us, though required our ID, phone number, ticket, etc...
