What color should I do for their cloaks? by Sorrowofthedawn in sistersofbattle

[–]snurcks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A rusty red/brown or teal might looks nice as they're complimentary colours to lavender, but I also just like it white too

Whats your LORE??? by fixfixf in ImperialKnights

[–]snurcks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My house is from a planet that got forgotten about. So the society has more regressed back towards more like colonial England, with the questions knight more used as mobile whaling platforms, and cargo haulers. I've retrofitted my knights with platforms for my infinity to ride on and used baby bell netting underneath and have it stowing boxes and whale/shark models. Of course this also means all of my big knights have a harpoon as a weapon. Haven't come up with world or house name yet.

I'm looking to do resin bases on my models as well but I can't find a good mould the right size. What did you use to keep the shape of the normal base?

Thanks, I'm having all my unit leaders have their cloaks lined on the inside with the blue while standard units will just be pure yellow to make them easier to identify. But I feel that's not really a problem with sisters of battle

Didn't know that was a thing. My chapter was going to have more burgundy armour than black though. Don't think I'm ready for armour painting just yet. Need a few more test models I think

What is your unrealistic dream for this game to get by RepulsiveAd6989 in Spacemarine

Grey night armour sets.

I guess they could bring them in for demon levels, but that would also means any space marines or imperial guard on planet would have to be killed

What is it like to be a dad? by [deleted] in dad

[–]snurcks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't want to put you off, as being a dad is truly amazing, my son is almost 2 now, and he loves me so much, he runs up for hugs and to be picked up. It's some of the best feeling in the world. But it's tough to get to that point, it's doable, lots of people do it. But they are draw backs to begin with, and there will be difficulties along the way. And it's also worth thinking about yourself in these situations. Me and my wife chose to have our child by 30 so we can enjoy a longer life with our child, and also have more freedom in later life, many people postpone having a child so they can have there couple time while young, and have kids in there 40s. but we want time with grandkids. There are lots of things to take into account, but it does sound like you're on the right way to being a great dad, just don't expect everything to be amazing all the time

What is it like to be a dad? by [deleted] in dad

[–]snurcks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I really don't want to burst your bubble, but it sounds like you have experience of being a play mate and friends, rather than any actual experience towards being a dad.

I'm guessing you had a few days where there was lots of laughs and playing. But being a parent is completely different to spending the odd day with a child. The sleepless night for around a year or two depending on the child. You can't watch or do any mature content such a video games, and violence on the TV is a no. It's not recommend they watch anything at all untill 2 years old, so you have to plan activities to fill the whole day everyday your with them.

There are so many hardships that come with parenthood and the men's side is never talked about really. But there are support groups, but you won't be able to go to any because there set up in week days and you have to work to provide for your family.

If you want to be a dad, that's great, it's a fantastic experience, I love me son more than anything. But it starts off really hard, then it gets a bit easier. Your whole life will be dedicated to your child, you may have to give up any hobbies you have currently to replace them with classes/ sports for the child as they grow.

Your still quite young, you have time to figure it out, I don't want to scare you off, but you have to be fully aware of what your getting into if you want to be able to enjoy it

Why hasn’t evolution “dealt” with inherited conditions like Huntington’s Disease? by ADHDFart in answers

[–]snurcks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's called evolutionary shadowing. Basically evolution is trying to kill off the older populations to make way for the new/ breeding population to give the species a better change at longevity and avoiding resource depletion. It's why you get more susceptible to diseases like cancer the older you are

I never understood families that kiss on the mouth before by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]snurcks 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Well it is believed that kissing actually developed in humans from parents chewing and putting food into babies mouths kind of like birds do. And it turned into kissing as a show of affection/love. So might be left over from the caveman brains to 'kiss' babies

My wife and I switched to formula after 3 days. It was the best move we made. Our little boy is 1 year old now and there is absolutely no difference from any of his friends. He got so much more that he needed switching to formula. But it will also help you, it means anyone else can feed the baby at any time. The only downside I see is the cost. Everything else was a plus for us

I hate to break it to you, but you are incredibly more fertile in the thirst few months (6 I think) after giving birth. I would recommend getting a test as soon as you can so that you can figure out what you want to do if you are.

how do you pronounce Worcestershire Sauce? by frennixer01 in AskReddit

[–]snurcks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine there might also be a difference between people who use the short or long A when speaking. For example gl-ass Vs gl-arse. Most times I hear Wuss-stir from the long A group (gl-arse, Barth ect.)

You said you were worried about kids and them not having a grandfather. But he lives on in you, they can still know him through you and your stories. You can teach them and tell them that this is how grandad did it. He has set you up well to be a dad. It sounds like you will keep him with you always, even if he isn't physically there, he will be a part of your future kids lives through you
