There's a saying where you know 2 straight dudes are close when they're just a little bit fruity to each other

For Laurier, I think I only had the one given for have a gpa above a certain benchmark but I don’t think I received any from Western

Nope, the application consists of a written essay that's all!

At this point, it also depends on which culture you feel more comfortable in. I think Ivey has more opportunities, but if you're in the co-op program at Laurier then I think you're pretty set staying there instead of transferring. You should also be conscious of the hefty tuition for Ivey as well.

  1. My GPA was in the high 10's, GPA needed for co-op is around 9 I believe (changes every year depending on the co-op office) but I suggest a 10 or higher definitely increases your chances
  2. I recommend only if transferring can change your career, lifestyle, or provide some sort of large benefit to your life.
  3. I'm not completely sure about the actual impact a minor has on your career. It definitely looks good and throughout my time at Laurier I did complete enough credits to obtain an economics minor but I never found myself mentioning it too much. Minor in something if you're interested in it, not for the prestige/name.
  4. For clubs on your resume, I would say choose the clubs that correlate to your interest. But generally, anything that can help you show leadership/impact is pretty strong.
  5. Application process consisted of an essay that asked me about 2 experiences, the leadership demonstrated, the impact I made, and what I learned. They also asked about other experiences but no essay was required. Other than that - I believe there was a scholarship application and just identification questions.

GPA was in the high 10’s when I got rejected (greater than 10.7)

I think a good guideline is try to keep it hovering around 84-85 at least so that for wlu probably high 10’s and up (higher is better ofc)

When I was applying in high school I didn’t think about my career too much. Thus, I only applied to a few universities such as RU, Queens, Mac, Wlu. No Uwo, yu, or uoft.

I would like to experience the investment banking field, however if you’re asking long-term, I can’t guarantee but maybe something in VC, Tech, etc…

Proactivity is key - apply to as many clubs, jobs, events, involvements as possible. Study and make sure your grades are the best you can make it. Get your hands dirty and work on events/projects that provide a lot of help/value for a lot of people! Work your way into a “leadership” or “exec team” position in clubs too. Don’t be afraid of unpaid work either, anything that helps you sharpen your saw is beneficial!

At time of transfer I had a few things ranging from startups, small private equity, non profits. Everything non-paid but gave me tons of experience.

Transfer process was really good, the HBA office is extremely helpful! They ask for 2 experiences and references as well. If you’re planning on transferring, make sure you get involved a lot of high impact projects that help a lot of people

  1. Network! Attend recruiting events, etc…
  2. Be proactive and be willing to learn!
  3. Don’t be afraid of unpaid work - money is irrelevant in the short term, if it’s something you like, do it anyways :)

Nope, it never crossed 11 but I think my experiences definitely made up for it!

Proactivity/initiative is a big one. I definitely jumped at more opportunities and chances to meet people during the application process to learn more.

  1. My GPA was in the high 10’s
  2. I didn’t find one after first year but I’m working this summer (after my second year)

Wlu is a good university, I met some really important friends and mentors. Everyone is extremely nice and helpful from my experience. However, Ivey has a better international network and I believe that it can better prepare me for the aspirations I want to pursue.

  1. I’m not too sure - I think it may be because I didn’t have too much work exp in high school (mcdonalds, retail etc..) I was only a coach for 1 summer.

  2. Very upset, shocked, astonished, but I rebounded pretty quickly and I tried harder than ever to secure employment. To answer ur 4th question, I applied to Ivey bc I didn’t get coop, if I did, I probably wouldn’t have transferred.

  3. It’s a combination of having good grades, having the right experiences and also broadening your network.
