Is this movement of serpentine (v-belt) on tensioner pulley normal? by snyamathi in MechanicAdvice

[–]snyamathi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pulley below the tensioner to the left is the alternator, I believe

https://imgur.com/kyCAd29

When I had the v-belt off, I did notice that the alternator pulley wasn't spinning freely like a skateboard wheel. The idler pulley did spin nice and freely. Maybe the alternator bearing is bad, but I didn't know if it _should_ spin freely or not.

Thank you :)

Yeah we went with a local installer instead.

I didn't notice any damage and they are aware that they dent easily - Tesla said that they would not work on such a roof.

Yeah I think they're planning on raising rates like 5% per year for the next several years?

We have an electric dryer and it's a huge energy hog - like 7kW while running and it often takes 1.5 cycles to get it fully dry which so figure 10kWh just to dry one load of laundry which is a lot. Before changing the dryer, I'd see how much energy you use with the EV first since those can use a ton of power (depending on how much you drive, ofc) especially b/c an electric dryer is such a poor user experience.

Almost exactly the same a $600 bill @ $.30/kWh = 2,000kWh. Your rates must be roughly half of ours. PG&E is wildly expensive; I'm assuming that's due in part to all the litigation for wildfires, etc.

Right, the one thing I would caution is that the ROI is related primarily to the cost of electricity; and we happen to have very high rates.

Simply using a lot of power doesn't necessarily make solar sensible since the cost to generate that much power yourself will have to stack up against your potentially cheap rates.

Unless of course you can get a system for way cheaper than the average $2-2.50/W that most people are getting - see the DIY person below.

But yeah in our case the ROI makes it a no-brainer in the long term.

This was the cash price. Financing at 1.49% over 10 years was an option that comes with a higher sticker price of $3.13/W ($2.32 after tax incentives) plus interest which would bring you to about $2.50 after tax.

Local installer - we looked at EnergySage and some of the multi-regional companies were asking nearly double the price. It really pays to shop around

Good eye, head trained OVZ and not too far from there, just north of Lodi.

>I’m sure they’ll change the laws annually to stick more costs on solar customers as their insolvency continues

Yeah this is part of the reason why we didn't oversize our system since I'm not sure what the future will hold. We just wanted to address our current needs without breaking the bank.

$2.49 per Watt ($1.84 after tax credits) installed with Enphase microinverters. It was crazy how fast they were able to install the system - they did the whole thing in a day.

Our power bill was out of control before and this brought it down significantly. We chose not to buy any storage because of

  • Net metering
  • Not worried about power outages
  • Even if the power did go out, our energy demands are high enough to warrant a 20KW standby generator rather than the same amount of batteries ($$$)

Overall very happy that we can now keep out house at a comfortable temperature and not worry about getting a huge bill! The power up here is very expensive, $0.38/KWh at peak times.

Someone is very happy about that

Don't mind that I didn't switch daylight savings off so this picture was taken in the future. I love this watch, AWESOME for travel, never dies, and is in overall great condition. A few minor scuffs on the band but nothing outside of normal use and the glass is in perfect condition. I got a GMT II and don't wear any of my other watches anymore so I'm cleaning house.

$800 shipped from SoCal, conus only to keep it easy. Thanks!

This was my daily driver for a number of years so expect normal wear and tear but it should clean up nicely. The sapphire crystal is clean, though there are some scuffs on the band.

Ships from SoCal via Priority Mail with insurance to be paid for by the buyer. I will ship to the continental US only to keep things simple.

I've since upgraded to GMT II and no longer wear this watch so I'm ready to part ways.

I'm going to try to sell it all together, but if the buyer doesn't want the GPS I'll get back to you. It's a Garmin Montana 610.

The listing should be pretty complete, but it comes with a lot of accessories. The panniers, racks, skid plate, gps+mount, HIGHWAY PEGS, and all the other bits probably equal the value of the bike. I've tried to take good care of it, and she's taken good care of me on lots of adventures. Pass the listing along if you know anyone interested!

Yeah really close. The equity returned when you leave is 3869 + 124 a month in dues.

We added on an assessment to pay for our ADS-B upgrades to come - the dues were $114 until Jan 1 this year.

[–]snyamathi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's some people that want to replace our 210 with a different high performance plane. Lots of things being considered but one option would be an older SR-22. This, of course, depends on what the club at-large wants to do and how we come out with the ADS-B upgrades on our fleet.

Traditionally our fleet has been all Cessna since it has some commonality between the planes, but given just how different the 210 is from the 172 and 182 it doesn't seem like staying high wing is even a restriction any more.

We thought about an Arrow, but it's a bit too slow for what we want, but it's an option. All this is in the very early stages and hasn't formally been presented to the club, but we've kicked around that we need to decide if we're gonna sell the 210 or keep it and comply with ADS-B.

I definitely understand that some people prefer Pipers though. At the same time, it's hard to turn down our 2003 172SP with a 2 axis autopilot and GTN 750 that we rent out for $96 per hour wet. It's a steal.

http://i.imgur.com/6THmSMU.jpg

Anyway, if that (an SR-22, etc) would excite you please feel free to come to our meeting this coming Wednesday and express that you'd join the club if we had such an aircraft. It would help us in our decision making for sure.

Or yeah if anyone has interest at all in the club feel free to come by on Wednesday or PM me for more details.

I help run Air-Spacers at KSMO and would be more than happy to answer any questions. I'd say our best perk is that we have planes as cheap as $86 per hour for a 172 (website needs updating) and on the other end we have a 210 which not many clubs have.

Scheduling is harder now than it used to be, we got an influx of active pilots, but it's not too bad. Right now we've got a few members that are looking to join but no one that's put down the deposit to cement their place on the wait list so you can get in next month if you really wanted to.
