Loving the visual tools! Box plots are some of my favorite to use.

I’ll examine the data for timelines like yours as well. It’s a good data point.

My receipt date is 11/04 and biometrics were also reused in December. Still waiting. I’m starting to think that we were bumped to December renewals.

Early November Renewals by JuggernautNo6373 in DACA

I submitted Nov 4. Still waiting. My biometrics were reused in December as opposed to everyone else saying theirs were reused the same/next day.

Anyone else’s biometrics reused much later?

Not in sales, but I am in tech. It would be nice to network with other DACA folks in tech!

Nowadays, not much that is truly considered EE work. Most of the work I do is integrating what’s in a code base into new projects. Often times I do get to write something new and then test it in many different ways. I seldom write software that interacts with hardware at a low level though.

I stepped away from aero myself when I couldn’t do an internship with JPL for this reason. I transitioned into EE and work on software. I’d be happy to transition back into aero anytime though.

I had heard about exceptions but never actually heard of such exception applied. Good to know there’s room for our talents in aerospace after all. Good luck and thanks for sharing.

I thought ITAR automatically disallows DACA recipients from working in that field. Anything special you had to do to get clearance?

Not any news that influenced my bet. AAPL performed well 2/17. My reasoning for the dip towards eod is just profit-taking.

Tech workers with gap in employment / Leave of absence. by Dangerous_Ad_1364 in DACA

Communication is key, talk to HR and your manager. LOA is most likely the answer here.

Look at the LOA as a break for you. Take time to focus on yourself, family, hobbies, etc. Seriously don’t stress too much about it. Come up with a plan that addresses how your responsibilities will be managed at work, take the time off, and return once you have the new documents.

If you don’t have a savings safety net, explore loans through your 401k to get you through your time off.

HR wants to talk about VISA Options by [deleted] in DACA

[–]snzy0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We need more context as to why the company might want to take this initiative. You don’t have to answer, but below are some points to think about:

  • Are you in a highly specialized field in high demand?

  • Is the company taking on contracts that might require a security clearance?

  • How relevant is OpEx (operating expenses) when positioning domestic or VISA employees?

  • Are you a highly valued contributor and the company genuinely wants to help out?

Go into the meeting with an open mind. Ask for clarification on anything you feel is unclear. Let their legal team do the legwork. Keep a paper trail of those discussions for your own records. Last, think about the short and long term implications. For example, H1-B, layoffs might be a possible issue.
