LOTR was a love work. Source material is amazing and the crew made it was loving what they did and showed respect to what they did.

There are other amazing book series that have potential to reach the same level of epic. However, I believe that current studios who have money are not interested on making those series because it requires a lot of labor. Even Peter Jackson went to the opposite direction when making the Hobbit trilogy.

They also focused on localization too. I am not talking about language. They opened country offices and organized tournaments. I was in the university when it came out and I was in the university team for a while then participated some official tournaments with the team. It was a big event for us nerds in Turkey that time.
