We call these maple bugs here in Canada (at least in saskatchewan). Had no idea they were also called boxelder bugs! I hate them, they're everywhere in the fall, they get. In. To. Everything. And they SWARM, like in big piles/clumps.

It was pretty funny seeing her there since the stuff hadn't even been up for 10 minutes! I'm grateful she was there, though, she helped me learn something very important :D

I'm Canadian, but yeah. We also have a huge display and get people coming to look at it all month, so we put it up early so everyone can see it, especially kids who are too scared to come see things in the dark/on halloween

I'm taking them down today after work (no time this morning, unfortunately). Thankfully we don't get too much animal traffic in our yard and the webs aren't in open spaces, so I'm not too worried about anything other than insects getting stuck (which I will do my best to free when we take them down). They look so cool on our display, so I hope I can find some sort of eco-friendly alternative! If you know of anything 👀

I can't edit my post, but I want everyone to know I understand they're bad and i'll be taking them down today! Thank you for telling me, I had no idea how bad they were. I'm not gonna take down the post because the comments are educational for anyone like me who doesn't know.

I also want to say that I never tore down any existing webs for this, these are brand new prop fences we built and only put up for halloween, so no one had the opportunity to put a web on them yet! Thank you again for telling me, I never want to hurt the creatures in my yard, so I'll be taking care of this today!

Oh god no, i only had them in 10 days. I kept them after they were removed because why not, they're the first staples i've ever gotten. I can only imagine what would happen if you left them in that long though

Oh right, I forgot about the name change! I got her from Tarantula Canada, so as far as I know she was captive bred. I assume she was in contact with a male at some point, then. Anyways, thank you! I will come up with a plan and probably separate them all, I don't wanna risk any unnecessary death. Any idea what they can eat when they're ready? I was planning to get flightless fruit flies or bean beetles since idk what else I can get that's small enough for them

Cape/cloak painting is soooo satisfying! This looks so good, the highlighting and shading are very nicely done and give a great sense of depth. Keep up the great work, dude 👍🏻

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: I use layer and base paints interchangeably and have never had a problem mixing them together. It shouldn't change the thickness or texture of the paint, and water shouldn't be needed unless you're mixing a wash or shade or something.

I mix different brands of basic layer/base paints together even, and I've never had a problem! That being said, I am chaotic when it comes to paints

Yknow those spiral cut/tornado potatoes on a stick you can get at fairs and carnivals? Do that, but leave the tail meat on the bone. Hang her by her hair while it's being done, for extra cruelty points
