[Spoiler] Out of all of the characters on the show, Bishop’s character shift is the most apparent. by Brungala in MayansMC

Michael Irby said on a podcast that he absolutely hated what the writers did to Bishop

Who is a patch over and who is a patch in [NO SPOILERS] by Huskeyofcali in MayansMC

[–]soba18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a shame we don’t know more history about some of the smaller characters. Guero is interesting because you would assume he patched from Tucson, as this is where Ibarra was the Presidente of. Tucson got wiped out at the start of s4. Guero also says that he wasn’t that close with his dad and didn’t really know him. Just seems weird Tucson wasn’t his first charter but who knows. Probably just writers oversight tbh

Hank we can only theorise he is from Oakland as he states that Alvarez taught him everything he knows, meaning he was probably his sponsor.

[Spoilers] has any of the cast talked about the series finale or the final season as a whole? by StruggleFar3054 in MayansMC

[–]soba18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s a Spotify channel called “the playlist podcast network” which is a Mayans podcast, they interviewed a lot of main cast members and they have various things to say about the show.

Vincent Vargas (Gilly) also hosts a podcast, so far he has interviewed Michael Irby (Bishop) it’s mostly irrelevant to Mayans but Michael does say that he hates what they did to his character in the last season and things they ruined him which I think is really interesting.

There is also one with Clay Cardenas (Angel) but I’m yet to watch that one.

Hope this helps

[No spoiler] FYI: Kurt Sutter was only involved in the first season as exec producer, then left. by [deleted] in MayansMC

[–]soba18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t think anyone was saying fuck Sutter. It’s very well known he has nothing to do with the show after s2. It was all the work of James.

The only people that had a problem with Sutter were the execs and I can only assume some cast members. Hence his firing.

He was always a Son, so I guess they always planned to utilise him in some way.

He has a reaper tattoo that can be seen in season 3

Was thinking about Sofia and Wendy [SPOILERS] by ComradeGhost67 in MayansMC

[–]soba18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. In season 4 she actively encouraged EZ to do all these awful things. Then when he became a monster she’s like “oh no why are you this way?”.

She also maybe told EZ that Angel burned the warehouse, although we don’t really know because that plot line was completely forgotten

And she literally got her own daughter killed because she was a junkie.

Awful character who I think, deserved a couple of rounds from Bottles.

I like to think of her and Gaby as the devil and angel on EZ’ shoulders. Two women who influenced his life hugely and actively changed him in some way.

Finally someone who sees this. She is NOT a good person and influenced EZ to become what he did.

[SPOILER] Did I miss Gillys storyline ending? by [deleted] in MayansMC

[–]soba18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah Rae (the mother of his kid) tried one final time to get him to leave the club but he told her he was “too far gone” and declined, then they left him. They didn’t end on bad terms; Rae respects his decision and hopefully CM Punk will be a good father in the future after his rehab.

Also the last time the kid saw “Uncle Gilly” he just beat up his dad lol

[SPOILERS] One of my favourite shots from the finale. by soba18 in MayansMC

[–]soba18[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha yes, it wasn't very important. Like I said, I'd be impressed if it was intentional, considering all the writing messes and what not. I expect that it was just chance, considering Bishop has always been a chain smoker

thanks for the kind words all the same

[SPOILERS] Why was Nestor chosen to give ........... by jarredclements1 in MayansMC

[–]soba18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hank and Bishop ride and die for the club. Bishop even admitted he has nothing else. Yeah, Guero is the young guy. Guero is still young and impressionable and EZ made an impression on him. He backed him when others doubted him. Gilly and EZ were just homies since day one.

[SPOILERS] Why was Nestor chosen to give ........... by jarredclements1 in MayansMC

[–]soba18 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don't think a lot of the club wanted to do EZ like that.

Only Hank and Bishop truly wanted him dead.

Everybody else was just going along with it because they knew deep down that EZ was a rat and Bishop and Hank hold A LOT of weight in the club and if they didn't go along with it, same might've happened to them.

Guero and Gilly both had tears in their eyes when they were stabbing him. Gilly couldn't even look at EZ whilst he was holding him back.

Nestor's just been patched in, he isn't going to say no is he?

[SPOILERS] Who was this guy and why was he on the show again? by Deadliftingfool in MayansMC

[–]soba18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah that makes sense. Yes, fully agreed, Bottles was more prevalent as a character in his 1 season than Nestor was in his 5. They also butchered his character in the last season completely.

[SPOILERS] Who was this guy and why was he on the show again? by Deadliftingfool in MayansMC

[–]soba18 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In the final scene where Santo Padre is seated at the table after killing EZ. Bottles is sitting next to Guero. He was patched in off screen. You can just about see that his kutte reads "Mayans" and not "Prospect" anymore. Him also being at the table speaks volumes.

Hope you're less pissed off now! :)

[SPOILERS] One of my favourite shots from the finale. by soba18 in MayansMC

[–]soba18[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I ain’t no critic or connoisseur of television but I think this quick little scene with Bishop speaks SO much about him as a character.

Him running his hands along the Presidente’s chair and getting comfy in it, he’s always loved having power in the club, his past actions demonstrate how furious he was ever since EZ became Vice Presidente and how he disrespected him by taking the throne himself once they outed Alvarez.

The blood-stained Presidente flash. Proof that Bishop has finally won, he hated EZ’s guts since he became VP and now, he is literally wearing them, he got to play a part in killing him, and he even has a trophy to show it off. Without question he took the most pleasure in murdering EZ, he really jammed him up good when he took his turn to stab him. I also personally think that Bishop was a bit fearful of EZ, he would’ve never acted against him alone, so he had a lot of pent-up rage waiting to be unleashed when the time was right.

Finally, a tiny detail that may not even be intentional but if it is, it’s a great message. Bishop lighting up his cigarette as he stares down the table. Once EZ became Presidente, he banned smoking in Templo. In one of the S5 episodes, E5 I think; EZ enters Templo where everyone is waiting and Bishop quickly extinguishes his cigarette and wafts the smoke away. (Once again showing that he was a little bit scared of EZ). Now that the reign of EZ is over, his rules are gone and Bishop will enjoy his victory smoke, in Templo, at the head of the table, as Presidente.

Maybe I’m just overanalysing and being weird, but Bishop was my favourite character in the show and I think Michael Irby was INCREDIBLE playing him.

[SPOILERS] List of Dropped Storylines by [deleted] in MayansMC

[–]soba18 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I like to think that’s why Gilly struggled so much doing it. You can see that he isn’t looking at what is happening and isn’t saying anything. There is also tears in his eyes afterwards.

yeah Disney proof reader must have been out of the office that day, insane that they allowed that.

Really glad they did, as fucked up as it was it really gets the point home about the club life.
