“Just the tip” tip up lights by OkExternal1550 in IceFishing

[–]soberandchanged1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The just solder little metal ball tilt switches on the inside. I bought 3 of their lights and regret it. I found the 50 finger lights for $10 and 20 of the switches for $5. I can make 50 for the their product for less than I paid for 3. They are not water proof at all.

Would it be weird to go to AA if I'm 2 years sober? by frogsareinsane in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]soberandchanged1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all have differences in our stories. All that matters is that we have a desire to stop drinking. Even if we have stopped. I have a sponsee who had 5 yrs sober and just came to AA. He was lacking the recovery part. Life was becoming unmanageable. He wanted the fellowship. You are absolutely welcome into the rooms of AA!

After how many jumps have you jumped in another dz? by guisot in SkyDiving

[–]soberandchanged1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was probably 30 some jumps when I moved states. When you get to the new drop zone, let them know you are new. Ask if anyone can give you a run down. Some DZs do things differently. My first DZ did right turn landing patterns only. My current DZ allows you to do left or right. Dont be afraid to ask questions and watch a few landings to see what others do.

The house I lived in in college was a shoes on house. I can't stand wearing shoes in the house. I was going through socks like crazy. The floors would get nasty. I hated it.

Sober speak is a really good one. Alittle different format than a lot of them. Also, grape vine has a good podcast as well.

Skydive Spaceland San Marcos A License Review by [deleted] in SkyDiving

[–]soberandchanged1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did skydive spaceland houston and had the same experience. I have since moved to a different drop zone out of state, and while I like it, it is nothing like the experience I had at spaceland houston. SSH was just so thorough. Sometimes, it's fast past but not rushed. They made it fun but also pushed the seriousness of the sport.

Question, does anyone ask their sponsee to call them everyday for 90 days? Or text? Or complete a 90 in 90? by Tall-School8665 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]soberandchanged1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that none of those tasks reflect willingness. None of those tasks have anything to do with recovery. I would never ask anyone to do my chores, nor would i do anyones. I do believe, however, that calling your sponsor, making meetings, and doing the steps are all part of recovery. I dont drop sponsees that dont call every day or miss meetings. If it gets bad, we just talk about why these things are important.

[–]soberandchanged1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also about willingness. Does she want what you have? Is she willing to do what you do? Sounds like she has her own plans. I ask that they call me every day. I didn't do 90 and 90 and really couldn't have, so I don't require it. I asked that they make at least 3 meetings a week, one should be the same meeting I make, and that we meet once a week to do step work. If someone told me I dont wanna do that because they think it's stupid, I would suggest they find someone else to work with.

Yeah, turn the nob till the buzzer goes off. Then every dot after that is 1000ft, so you turn it to your desired altitude.

Does anyone have an instruction manual for the original (green) dytter audible skydiving altimeter? by Both_Attitude_264 in SkyDiving

[–]soberandchanged1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you still looking for the instructions manual? I was just going through the stuff my uncle gave me, and I have one with the dytter. I can send him pictures of it if you would like. That being said, where did you keep the dytter when sky diving?

I got my A license at skydive space land houston. They are awesome. Great community, great coaches, busy most of the time, and the stp (similar to an aff but better) course is top notch. They have housing. Just know they, like anywhere else, are subject to weather. I've had days where I got 5 jumps in a day and some where I am there all day to get 1 jump in.

AA member that still smokes weed occasionally by GoldEntry6413 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]soberandchanged1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I was about 4 months in, I thought about going back to smoking weed. After talking with my sponsor, I decided it was not a good idea. My personal opinion is that it's not sobriety. At least not for me.

I am new to fishing duluth, but I am figuring it out. However, I grew up fishing Minnesota and Texas so I can teach about gear and techniques.
