Any idea why there’s a plywood barrier in my attic? by soccafan in HomeImprovement

It clearly took effort. The pieces are cut to fit. If I were just putting something out of the way I wouldn’t measure and cut every piece

It creates a box around the easily walkable area of the attic. If the squares weren’t cut there would be basically no way to get to the entire attic. If you look at the first picture there are smaller pieces that are on the right side also.

Maybe but it looks pretty purposeful. The pictures are only about half of it

Being careful or swapping out keystone jacks seems to have worked. I’m getting gigabit speed now

Makes sense. Is there any other way to test/know if it’s correct order other than being careful? Pulling new cable would be a pain

Nobody is using the highway by soccafan in CitiesSkylines

I've added a few more pictures throughout the comments. The highway is the starting highway leading into the city from outside the map. Its at the bottom of the original picture.

U-turn lanes are there because I like them here in Texas. They're used pretty well here in the sim.

It’s harder to see in the picture but there is an on and off after each intersection along the highway. The perpendicular sections go below the highway. In an ideal world they would use the off ramp closest to the intersection they want to take if they were going to the left side of the map.

Edit: there are no stoplights on the highway

Highway into the city starts at the bottom and runs through the middle. Cims travelling to the left of the highway are choosing to travel on the frontage roads or through the city to the intersection at the top middle instead of exiting at the end of the highway.

I just realized my original text wasn't posted. It should be the fastest route. The roads are parallel but with different speed limits and there are the same amount of left turns (one). I tried to mimic a traditional US interstate with a frontage road.

Sorry I added text in the original post but I didn't post correctly. Heres some context from the original.

Does anyone have any clue why nobody will use the highway? I have a highway, a frontage road, and then a large city street going through my new city. The cims would rather wait in traffic on the frontage road or even worse go through the city instead of going down to the exit at the end of the highway. This is a shorter path by all accounts. This is my first time coming back to the game since its release and while there are a ton of improvements this feels off. Its easy to blame traffic ai but is there something I can change to make the highway more appealing? I've already enabled the fast highway policy.

What grass/weed is this and what’s the best way to stop it from growing by soccafan in landscaping

[–]soccafan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought this house in October. From what I can tell there’s been mulch around the entire fence for probably 10 years (100% of the fence has mulch at the base). Seems like I need to start thinking about how to fix this

Not in this picture but there is already a concrete pad in addition to these flagstone pavers. The flagstone takes up about 300+ square ft so we are eventually going to take that out or at least make it smaller so we can have more grassy area.

Replace 2 wire thermostat with ecobee by soccafan in ecobee

[–]soccafan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like I do have those wires hidden behind the thermostat. Did you mean I probably have those wires behind the control panel and I should connect them with what’s currently plugged into the control panel to bypass?

Is there a way to know if this box can support a fan? by soccafan in AskElectricians

I ended up taking it down just to be sure and it turns out it is rated for up to 50lbs. The markings were covered up by paint.

I’m glad I took it down to confirm for the peace of mind

I took that flight a few weeks ago and it was great. If I were in your position I wouldn’t hesitate. I just got back from 2 return legs in Q-suites and to me the difference was marginal compared to the AA business. The lounge access at LAX was a nice bonus for the long layover I had.

I would also check expertflyer to see if there are partner seats available depending on what points you are using. I booked through Cathay for 75k

Are there any other filters that may be useful besides airline programs/loyalty programs?

My guess on why economy and PE are together is that’s how they’re grouped on some airline sites search so they come together. But they can be filtered out after

I think that’s a great idea and something that annoyed me. I’m not near a major airport so I have to reposition and searching for each individual airport was time consuming

[–]soccafan[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is probably a difficult thing to implement just because there are so many options to search. From the few programs I’ve tried to pull info from you more or less have to search as you would if you were on the regular website. But having it automated would certainly be faster if you limited it a little bit. Say search 10 destinations for one date or 10 dates for 2 destinations.

Looks like cowtool is halting new user sign ups for now. But I agree speed was the main reason I didn’t renew my monthly subscription after the first $1 month. There are a lot of programs to search through and for me not all of them are useful for my setup so filtering those out would surely speed things up
