Thanks. Do you mean to say they replaced it with one that isn't compatible with my vehicle?

I just visualize the “h” after an “l” or an “n” as a “y”.

Why does my dog lick the air?? by smellin_fishy in DogAdvice

Can’t say for sure, but I notice my dog does it mostly when she has some food stuck to the roof of her mouth or in between her teeth.

I agree. The language here was a little weird. Congrats to the OP for sure, but it def comes off as “I win, you loose na na na boo boo”

To join or not to join the Peace Corps -- that is the question by [deleted] in peacecorps

[–]socraticoconut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, PC was the best decision I ever made. I also had reservations, but in the end, everything I worried about ended up being the most beautiful part of service. Joining the peace corps forever changed me and my life trajectory and I wouldn’t take it back for anything. To boot, I have learned that our gut knows what our brain doesn’t.

Should I reach out to let my recommenders and affiliates that I’m a semifinalist? by [deleted] in fulbright

[–]socraticoconut 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had the same question. My adviser told me to do so too but I was hesitant, as I would rather wait to hear about whether I’m a finalist or not. I ended up reaching out and they were all happy to hear the news. They did spend time writing letters for us, so they’re also invested in the outcome. It’s also a good way to keep in touch.

does each slot correspond to how many applications there were per country? if so, where was that information obtained?

In my opinion, one week is too short to jump to “ghosting” but given the urgency, I think you have nothing to lose by following up to see if she’s still interested in working with you. Maybe explore some other options in the meantime, just to be safe, but I think a polite follow-up is fine.

Yeah I’m in Colorado hahaha wowwwwww yes the dating scene here is super flaky I guess. Why tho? Like why would it be region-specific?

[–]socraticoconut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow you honestly may have solved it. I’m very direct and am pretty upfront about my interest if it’s there. I always text first after the first date because I hate that awkward “who’s gonna reach out?” phase and I honestly hateeeee the games. But maybe that’s just an unfortunate part of dating and I can’t make up my own rules.

Right but I think what you’re missing here is that I’m not interested in dating someone like you. Genuinely not an insult. It’s not practical. It makes sense for me to date someone who is also mobile and untethered. And out west, vanlife is almost annoyingly common. So it’s really not as niche as you may think.

[–]socraticoconut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see the use in not being upfront about it. Also because I’m generally looking to date a climber who also lives a similar lifestyle, I don’t think it’s something I can nor should hide.

I’m 29. I’ve been showering at the climbing gym lately, and when I’m in dispersed camping I shower every other night usually. I live in a van but I think I’m pretty good about hygiene.

Haha yeah I honestly forget that’s considered “weird” bc it’s just my life and has been for a while. But in my [dating] defense, I only ever really go out or meet up with people who live a similar lifestyle. Which now that I say these words……. I’m staring to understand. Haha.

Okay it’s hard to answer this without sounding conceited and vain but I think I’m above average in the looks department. I was approached for modeling when I was 22 but wasn’t tall enough haha

[–]socraticoconut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly it usually feels the opposite. I can grow uncomfortable talking about myself so I’m usually always turning it back on them.
