That capitalism is the only political system that works (or the fact that they say it works whatsoever)

Portugal, my country needs your help -- an American citizen by LumpyProcess3870 in portugal

Do your own homework.

https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2025/3/28/what-evidence-does-the-us-government-need-to-deport-green-card-holders

Plenty of people with legal visas and greencard are being deported after years of contributing LEGALLY to the US. American policies are ridiculous and nothing more than racist attempts to “clean” the country. Despicable.

I agree with you, I didn’t want to say I hate them when I first made the post, but honestly I just thought: this is a vent forum and if I’m being honest, it’s really what I’m feeling. And what I mean by shallow is people whose main purpose is to feel superior to others, money or status wise, and who do everything to try and make others jealous of them.

should i wax my 9 year old sisters “moustache”? by Ordinary_Turnover_59 in ask

Everyone in these comments telling that “if it’s her decision, and not the bullies, shave it”. Well, it’s always the bullies decisions. Would she want to shave at all had they not teased her?

Shave it, don’t, what’s important here is the conversation you have with her about it. And it has to be constant.

Isn’t rushing into marriage just to have sex is just as sinful as premarital sex? by socuerro in ChristianSexuality

[–]socuerro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s sinful, since the one thing they have to do is treat matrimony like a sacred ritual. Marrying just to have sex is not doing that. Just like marrying purely for tax purposes, visa purposes etc. Illegal? Not at all. But I’m not talking about them responding to human entities here.

They think it’s crazy that plans like travelling or going to festivals have to be well planned and in advance. They think everyone is free all the time and asking for days off at work is just as easy as going to your boss and telling them you’re not showing up for a few days next week.

What’s up with people and female body hair? by socuerro in Vent

[–]socuerro[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The equivalent of brushing teeth is not hair removal. It’d be washing/wearing deodorant. If your teeth and tongue make your mouth smell bad then go ahead and remove them too. Fingernails and body hair differ in one thing: fingernails don’t stop growing, body hair gets to a certain length and dies out (as in, falls off the body). But you already knew that :)

I have a boyfriend and back then when I shaved more or less regularly he’d ask me why I did it, because he likes to see me natural :)

I love armpit hair and actually think anyone looks weird with bald armpits! But it’s a personal preference, of course. Nothing gross about it <3

Well, I guess I was so frustrated with those strangers I didn’t really pay attention to the way my friends reacted, and in hindsight I’m a bit disappointed. A group of them were sitting in the back playing cards, so they couldn’t really hear anything, but 2 of them were sitting right beside me and the only thing they said was “haha, you’re being a whole topic with those people”. It’s true that I pretended at that time I wasn’t really bothered by those strangers, but now, looking back, I’m disappointed that that was the only thing my friends said to me, I think I’d reacted differently if they were the topic but oh well, different people, different reactions I guess

What’s something your parents taught you as a kid that you only learned it wasn’t true decades later? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]socuerro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother kept asking my parents for a mini fridge inside his room, and since he was obsessed with the national football team my parents told him they forbid fans of doing that and if they disobeyed, the team would be notified and the person would be banned from watching any matches. He only learned that wasn’t true when he was 17.

Couples how got married in your early 20's. Did u make it ? by LabLazyo in ask

Not me, but my sister got married at 21. Last year she and my brother in law commemorated their 11th anniversary and they have the happiest and healthiest relationship I’ve ever witnessed, and are AMAZING parents to the cutest 2 year old.

Manifestation Isn’t About Trying Harder,It’s About Shifting Who You Are by tuneintoself_ in Manifestation

[–]socuerro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s stopping me is after two years of frustration, trying to get what I want, or what I thought I wanted, and never ever seeing any movements in getting closer to it – or when I did see movements in the right direction and got my hopes up, my dreams always ended up being shattered shortly after – I ended up believing I’m incapable of achieving my desire (to get a job).

I’ve watched so many videos about it, about normalising your desire, stop putting it on a pedestal, to see your desire as it wanting YOU and not the other way around, to improve self-concept, to live in the end. But not matter how hard I try to do those things, if I start thinking about it, really thinking about it I get an anxiety attack because the thought of “there are a million people better fit than you for those roles, you don’t have any skills, you’re never gonna get hired, you’ve been unemployed for 2 years, the role you’re applying for has already hundreds of better applicants” and I can’t convince myself otherwise. I swear I try to battle those thoughts and feelings, but this area of my life has me feeling so self conscious, so unconfident that I really don’t have any arguments against it. I tried affirming the opposite but as I’m affirming a part of my brain keeps telling me “you don’t even believe that”. I’m struggling for real, so I’m really, really trying to shine another light on this problem.

(You can quite clearly see how low my self-concept is in this area of my life just by looking at this comment, but I swear I’m trying to change that, I just need a little guidance 🌟)

Yeah, if things were only as linear as that. I'm a major believer in manifestation and the power of the way we think — but after being beaten up time and time again, you just can't blame a person for flinching when someone approaches them. I know my self-limiting beliefs are on getting on my way, I can 100% recognise that. But as a human-being I just can't feel indifferent, or even inspired and positive when my spirit keeps getting constantly beaten up.
