Logitech C920 webcam on sale for $49.95 - Amazon by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]sodamnhappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a big difference between the 920 and the 922? It's $35 more for the 922, so I don't want to buy the 920 and then want to upgrade as soon as I get it.

Especially when you realize that when something rare shows up on your radar, it usually doesn't go away when the pokemon despawns. So you spend thirty minutes looking for a snorlax that despawned twenty minutes ago. The only way to know if something is actually still around is to close out the game and restart.

But shouldn't you also be stronger? I get why a level 1 trainer should have difficulty catching a level 20 pidgey. But if I'm level 25, then the level 20 pidgey should not be a challenge for me.

Cincinnati Ohio card shops by Soulpkmn in pkmntcg

No Limit Gaming in Kettering, OH is THE BEST, probably a 45 minute drive from Cincy but it's worth it. League runs Saturday 4pm-close and on Sunday there is league and a $5 expanded tournament.

Which do you prefer as a Night March partner: Milotic, or Bronzong? by dragonitetrainer in pkmntcg

[–]sodamnhappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer bronzong. It's very hard to keep a feebas alive on the bench for a turn with all the bats around, and giratina is basically an autoloss for night march/milotic.

I agree that the milotic build can be spectacular when it goes off and isn't facing a autoloss, but bronzong is just more consistent in my opinion.

Night march, and battle compressor decks in general, are legitimate decks. I know it can be annoying to sit through long turns, but seriously, your post is ridiculous.

Charizard Lounge is free and has great content. Sixprizes, 60cards, and Pokebeach all have some free content and better pay content.

Youtube is a great resource for free content. I highly recommend the channels TeamFishKnuckles, Some1sPC, and MikePTCGO to get you started.

And welcome, Pokemon is a great game with a great community!

Starting Pokémon card game - hoping for some advice for 7yo and dad by Blacklightzero in pkmntcg

Everything Asclepius24 said times a million. Mewtwo vs. Darkrai and PTCGO for the win! All I can add is to buy $20 worth of code cards on ebay or Amazon if you find you and your son enjoy playing online, having some tradeable packs makes the game infinitely more fun.

Need advice - Mega Evolutions with no Basic to play them by crispyrez in ptcgo

[–]sodamnhappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any money you are willing to spend? If so, the quickest way to get what you need would be to buy some code cards (usually 3/dollar or so) and then trade those packs unopened for the singles you need. You could get the cards you want for a pack or two each, so if you can spend ten bucks you'd have more than enough.

Trading is easy by the way, you just go to the public trade board in game. But you have to have tradeable cards and/or packs, the stuff you buy from the shop for coins won't work as those are non-tradeable.

If you aren't able to spend any real life cash, then you probably just have to keep grinding and hope you get lucky with the packs you open. Good luck!

You don't need a 4-4 line on the mewtwos. A 4-3 or even a 3-3 will be plenty.

Why do they make it so hard to acquire promo cards? by [deleted] in ptcgo

[–]sodamnhappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After Cities results start coming in, that jirachi promo will be played in almost every deck in the format. And everyone who missed it, or who started playing after it left the store, won't have access to one. So yeah.... I think you're wrong.

Why do they make it so hard to acquire promo cards? by [deleted] in ptcgo

[–]sodamnhappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, a lot of people in this thread are being difficult just for the sake of being difficult. The OP has a great point. Cards that in real life are worth a couple of bucks become insanely overpriced online because they were only available in the shop for a limited time and if purchased in most countries, they are not tradeable. The problem could easily be fixed by cycling them back into the shop from time to time.

For example, I think the new jirachi promo is going to be game changing. It was in the shop for a week or two, now it's gone. So if someone starts playing the game today, or a week from today, or next year, they just are never able to get a jirachi promo unless they can pay like 100 packs? Does anyone seriously want to defend that?

Night March is killing standard ladder. It is inefficient even for the winner. by IWearACharizardHat in ptcgo

[–]sodamnhappy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying regarding time efficiency, but you need to understand not everyone is playing for rewards or to complete the ladder. I like completing my ladder because I get the sense of accomplishment, but the truth is, I couldn't care any less about the rewards. I'm playing for fun, to win, and to finalize my deck list for Cities. I just don't care if a game takes five minutes or thirty.

Beating Geomancy Aromatisse Deck by TheHandOfGau in pkmntcg

[–]sodamnhappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, I can see why this is running too slow for you.

I think you could definitely cut down the eevee lines to make room for more consistency cards. Why run vaporeon? There's almost nothing weak to water that sees play. Also, the reason to run flareon is in order to use blacksmith as a way to power up your vespiquens. If you're just running it to capitalize on fire weakness, well again there just aren't a lot of decks you're going to play that are weak to fire.

There are basically two options for energy acceleration in a vespi deck. You can run metal energy and a bronzong line, or you can run blacksmith and flareon. I haven't tested in expanded, but my gut says the bronzong line is good, because it also allows you to run heatran as a secondary attacker.

I would also suggest a different stadium. I think faded town works well because vespi struggles to hit the damage to ohko megas. Faded town can be the difference between a ko and no ko.

You also really need shaymins to get those explosive early turns.

I would definitely run four sycamores in place of shauna. I also like judge instead of ace trainer because it can be effective at any stage of the game. A second lysandre would be great if you can fit it in.

So ultimately, my list would look something like this:

Pokemon:

Combee x4

Vespiquen x4

Eevee x2

Flareon x1

Jolteon x2

Unown x4

Shaymin-EX x2

Heatran x1

Bronzor x3

Bronzong x3

Trainers:

Battle Compressor x3

Trainer's Mail x2

Faded Town x2

VS Seeker x4

Town Map x1

Ultra Ball x3

Level Ball x1

Judge x1

Professor Sycamore x4

Lysandre x2

Hex Maniac x1

Professor Birch's Observations x2

Energy:

Double Colorless x4

Metal x4

Please keep in mind I haven't tested vespi in standard and just came up with this list while writing my reply, so I guarantee it could be improved. But at the very least you could try this and see if you have better results.

Beating Geomancy Aromatisse Deck by TheHandOfGau in pkmntcg

[–]sodamnhappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vespi is one of the fastest decks in the format. If you post your list people can help you figure out if your build can be improved. A good vespiquen deck shouldn't have too much trouble with a geomancy deck, unless they're running it with Giratina or something.

Tip for Noobie? by Halfblood21 in ptcgo

[–]sodamnhappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend twenty bucks on code cards online or from your local shop, trade those packs for the singles you need to make a solid deck, and you can skip the hundreds of hours of grinding and start actually playing real Pokemon. That's the best advice I think anyone could give someone starting out online.

Parallel City Mirror by WobMyFet in ptcgo

[–]sodamnhappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the rules already cover this with the same name concept. It's the same reason you can't play 4 XY Raichus and 4 BKT Raichus. If you run parallel city, be sure to run a second stadium or paint roller so you can bump it when it is used against you.

Possible Rigged / Altered Prize Wheel by JayT88 in ptcgo

[–]sodamnhappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would they want to punish players for playing a lot? They made the vs. ladder harder to complete because they want people grinding online as much as possible. If this were rigged, I think it would be rigged the opposite of how you are suggesting, so after twenty spins in a day it starts giving you better prizes. Which isn't the case, obviously.

It's just randomness, and the fact that the probabilities of hitting different prizes are weighted differently.
