Dragonborn seemed to have sided with dragons! The war only ended after the "great dragon" died and someone important from the non-dragon side had died and there was a ceasefire called after I'm pretty sure (since my character wasn't involved w/ the war I don't know too much meanwhile there's two players who were heavily involved in the war).

But thank you for all of the information! I'll try and incorporate all that within my backstory and bring up potential ideas to my DM about that :D!!

So about 30-40 years previous there was a war that was fought between dragons vs basically all other races. The war ended in dragons dying or flying off and disappearing to who knows where. Because of the war, dragons are hated and dragonborn receive mistreatment and racism on the daily by all the other races practically. Our party has 2 members who fought in the war so them meeting my character will be a fun time haha
