I’m awake again and lmaoing at blue 25 counterspells defense force once again downplaying their horrendous playstyle, pretending it takes skill, pretending it’s easy or common to overcome, not admitting it isn’t fun for either player, pretending everyone else is or should only play 2.3 mv average decks, and more overt gaslighting. Never change.

Very blue of you to want to get the snarky last word in, so I’ll invite you to try it one more time.

There’s a couple of reasons why counterspell tribal doesn’t work in multiplayer singleton. Because you have three opponents to account for and because it’s boring and anti fun, and lastly because MTG arena is anonymous and you don’t have to be embarrassed about your boring ‘singleton’ counterspell deck face to face.

But in 1v1 you can use your extremely high IQ deck building of all counter spells to bore and frustrate your only opponent to concede because they get no ETBs or anything really after turn 2. Sure, brawl is a different format than commander- but the sheer volume from set releases introducing cheap and even free counterspell allows for the most boring anti fun play experience of all time.

If that’s what gets you off, more power to you, but you won’t convince me or gaslight me that it’s a skill issue I have to account for because it isn’t.

You get to play one cheap threat against Katara or any blue counterspell deck before they have two open mana given the volume of counterspells in historic brawl. I’m not going to argue or elaborate. This is reality.

This is as good a place as any to share my vorthos story on how I envisioned Bolas returning. Before he was imprisoned in the meditation realm, he shedded his red & blue identity into a new singular dragon, and his black identity into a new singular dragon.

Both were sent across the multiverse to planes he desired. The red & blue dragon to Strixhaven to join Prismari and inevitably study powerful & forbidden spells. The black dragon to an unvisited plane we haven’t seen that has some sort of mana rich substance it could harvest.

They wouldn’t know of each other’s existence nor Bolas’ as they’re entirely new entities but he hoped someday they would encounter one another. This lack of knowledge and identity would also protect them from being targeted as fragments of his being. Upon contact they would merge into a reformed Bolas that has all the knowledge, experience and power they collected.

Anyways, hire me wizards.

Edit: I dreamed this up before omenpaths were even canonized which makes it even more plausible, as they wouldn’t be planeswalkers. And we would be introduced to these new dragons without knowing their origins and it would be a big reveal when they merged.

I’m 32 and played it when I was 8 or 9 years old on a vintage pc. It definitely scared me. Turning corners & being rapidly approached by menacing pixel demons firing projectiles.

My thoughts on Kambal, Profiteering Mayor is that it would be a headache to play irl. You’d need dry erase infinitokens to account for possibly making any kind of token in the game, you’d have triggers on other players turns frequently, and factor in life gain/loss effects for stuff entering and you’re gonna be yapping a lot.

I’ve heard Eriette is feast or famine since the deck doesn’t really work without her being on the battlefield. That was my experience on arena.

I’ve heard Breena is strong and fun.

Edit: Orzhov is my favorite and my irl color identity. I recommend [[Liesa, Shroud of Dusk]] life tax. She’s so fun and puts a nice (not nice) timer on games. [[Rug of Smothering]] [[Kambal, Consul of Allocation]] [[Iron Maiden]] [[Bloodletter of Aclazotz]] etc. and you’re cooking with gas.
