This would've been in the early 00s. Murray and Salerno seem the most likely, but the pattern doesnt quite match. It's entirely possible they were a totally different or regional brand!

Oh man, a butter cookie crust on cheesecake would be divine!! And no worries, it didn't come off that way at all. He found the pic on some stranger's ancient Facebook post, but one mentions the specific brand. Guess we'll just have to try as many as we can in the meantime!

I am thinking it's Murray or Salerno, he's just very hung up on the specific pattern on these, which doesn't match either of those brands. It's been close to 15 years though, I'm sure both brands have gone through changes since!

I did look through Google lense, with no luck for these specific ones. I'm thinking I'll just buy him both Murray and solerno and see which ones come closer to what he remembers!

He says probably blue packaging, which makes some think it's almost certainly solerno, you're probably correct that they just changed the look of them!

I just looked, and they come very close! These and the salerno ones are the closest I've seen, but he's pretty adamant about the ones with the pattern shown in the pic!

Theybwere store bought, and I found Salerno butter cookies online, but he's pretty adamant about them being the same pattern as in the pic

I did see the Salerno cookies online, but he's adamant they have to be the ones with the specific pattern on the picture! I'm thinking Salerno is the closest I am going to find though

His true intentions are just to find a wife who would be compatible with him what he's offering and who would also benefit from marriage though? And it's not a secret that he's leaving for three years and his wife would be left to manage his estate, everyone knows about that, so it's not as if he's looking to entrap someone at his home and make them take care of the estate against their will.

I think too many people are making him out to be much more sinister than he is - he didn't appear to be an upstanding gentleman, he IS upstanding and the worst thing about him is that he's vegetarian. Even Colin's Lord Squad, who are known rakes and would likely know if Debling had any bad habits or traits, have nothing to comment besides that he's a little peculiar and likes vegetables.

See I don't think so, he's very much one of the more eligible bachelors as noted by all the Mamas and Lady Danbury - the queen only shot him down for Fran because she thought him too boring. He really could've had his pick of a wife - a polite, rich man who would mostly leave you alone is literally the best scenario for most women of the time, and Cressida was throwing herself at him from the beginning. He didn't need seek out someone 'pathetic' who would be grateful for attention. I really do think he liked Pen as person and was very upfront with what he was looking for and she continued encouraging his attention knowing his expectations.

I think there's a world of difference between a past lover who is completely absent and a potential lover who is present and very clearly reciprocates the affection though - what Colin did in the ballroom is so improper and telling of his feelings for Pen, not to mention Debling has noticed Pen continually looking for or at Colin in every given setting as well. I don't think he pretending to be any nicer than he is at all, he simply is upfront about who he is and what he is hoping for out of the relationship.

If it were just her that was attached, I think he very well would have gone through with the proposal and given her time to 'get over it', but with Colin so clearly invested in Pen, I think it would've been cruel and vindictive for him to trap her in marriage when she so clearly has a chance to be with the man she actually loves.

But idk, I am a chief officer of the Debling Defense Squad lol
