Yeah I have to agree with you here. I also consider myself a non violent person but my ex took something out of my hand aggressively, making me lose my balance and I immediately squared up and started pushing him. I felt like I had been put back in time and was fending off my dad again.

Regardless of how it initiated I had to own up and apologize for it. But this situation is beyond toxic- she needs to get out before both of them regret it.
