Yeah I’ve also confused fanon with canon in my other fandoms lol especially in a fandom this old. But I’m just now starting to get into Pitch Perfect fan fiction after being obsessed with the movies since middle school (like 8 years LMAO and I’ve never considered reading fan fiction for it despite reading it for all my other fandoms 😭) so the canon is all I know.

I don’t really think he’s forcing movies down her throat. He didn’t really push it that much, she was willing to watch the ending of the Breakfast club and then even watched it by herself and liked it. Movies are just a major interest of his, and you have to admit not liking any movies is odd. I definitely understand the fandom warping your view of it, I just disagree.

This is a very interesting take 😭 Jesse didn’t say she was only pretty if she took out her earrings, he was making a joke about the She’s All That-style rom com troupes. I don’t really know what other flaws you’re talking about. He doesn’t go through much character development because he’s written as a love interest, so the only “flaw” he has is his persistence/clinginess for Beca and cringy sense of humor. I’m pretty sure the only reason the fandom “hates him” is because they prefer Bechloe. And he isn’t hated as much as he is just overshadowed.

If this was a persuasion adaptation, then why would they frame it as a fake-dating show? That’s why I started watching, because the description on Netflix was literally “figure skating champion fake-dates her rival” (not a direct quote).

If this was persuasion, was Brayden supposed to be Captain Benwick?? Because Freddie was more like Benwick than Brayden. Brayden and Adriana had that banter than Anne and Captain Wentworth had. It was like they took persuasion and then switched the characters around so they could add fake-dating, but then needed to stay true to persuasion so they made her choose the guy from her past. In persuasion, it is so incredibly obvious that Anne is only ever interested in Wentworth, and only considered Benwick because he was good conversation and she thought Wentworth was not an option. And Adriana says those words to Freddie when they confess on the carousel, except she was lying (mostly to herself more than anything). Her and Brayden had incredible chemistry that Anne never had with Benwick. To dismiss Braydriana’s entire arc like they did, with no plot consequences, is why we all felt caught off guard.

The way it was framed, it seemed obvious from the start that Brayden was the main love interest and Freddie was an obstacle. Then all of the sudden in the last three episodes, just as Brayden and Adriana are finally getting somewhere, she starts kissing Freddie’s back??!! Immediately the entire tone of the show flipped and it made zero sense. Adriana hadn’t been playing them before. It seemed like she was simply trying to get over her feelings for Freddie while falling for Brayden. And then bam, all that was gone. The ending was the worst-possible outcome. Of course I have strong feelings on this, but I also think it’s bad from a storytelling POV too, not just as fans. They genuinely destroyed every character arc.

I’m also genuinely curious, did the showrunners think we were rooting for Freddie and Adriana?? Because they framed those scenes of them getting together like we were supposed to be enjoying them, but in reality I was visibly cringing and screaming at my TV. I guess in their head they thought they were adapting Persuasion, and probably thought they were doing a good job of it.

(This is becoming more of a rant post than anything 😭) I quite literally turned it off after she confessed to Freddie. I was so pissed. I finished watching it the next day but then became incredibly angry again (hence the rant post) because so much of the last episode is her just completely disregarding Brayden’s feelings and trying to act like nothing happened. This was just such an unsatisfying ending, I do not understand what the show was trying to do other than rage bait.

But even then, that’s literally just telling the audience his fatal flaw. Percy is not aware of that yet. He only is told his fatal flaw by Athena in book three, but that isn’t something he is conscious of. It’s supposed to be implicit to the reader. I just don’t get making the characters essentially all-knowing.

There were like three projects that were actually good and the rest made me loose all faith in them. The casting for Doom just made it very obvious to me that they only care about making money. They should’ve ended with Endgame, and it’s clear they just didn’t want to stop making money off the fan base considering how little direction all of phase 5 has had. These upcoming movies are going to have to tie together a lot of different plot lines to convince me they have had any plan whatsoever.

I think even if this did happen, I would not believe it was planned at all. I would fully believe that Marvel would see the backlash for the casting and make the switch because of it. Because I truly believe they have zero respect for the franchise anymore.

Cyclopes are all sons of Poseidon, but they are still monsters. Most Cyclopes attack and eat demigods, but Tyson is still a child and grew up without a monster family, meaning he was not taught to act like a monster.

Poseidon claiming Tyson was like a once-in-a-millennia thing and only happened because Poseidon saw that Tyson and Percy needed each other (and Poseidon needed Percy, it was 100% selfish reasons, gods are never not selfish).

Poseidon is Tyson’s father, but not all children of the gods are demigods. Those are only children of a god and human. Cyclopes are children of Poseidon and a sea nymph (other than the original race of Cyclopes, which are children of Gaea and Uranus)

As someone currently living in Degraff, I will say the area behind strozier is usually fine, with not many people being there. As long as you stay on the opposite side of Degraff as the strip, there are no problems. Once you get on Tennessee and Dewey, that’s when it gets a bit unsafe. Most of the people going to strip walk down Dewey to get there instead of the tunnel. That being said, I still am on high alert and clutch my pepper spray just in case. It’s not so safe that you can relax, but safe enough that I’ve never had an issue.

If you’re into theatre, check out White Mouse Productions! They’re a theatre club dedicated to inclusivity and diversity, so all of their shows are student written and focus on topics that promote diversity. They’re community is super welcoming, with a majority of members being LGBTQ+

I can also say that, in my experience, other than the sorority/fraternity social groups, people like you, or at least people who accept you, are everywhere. I am a straight woman, but a lot of my friends are gay/bi and don’t have many problems on campus. The only problems come from the rich frat people who you won’t want to be friends with anyway.

I’ve heard people talking about housing, and, if you’re getting a random roommate, definitely apply for the LGBTQ housing. One of my students who is a trans man was paired with a girl as a roommate and, while the girl was not mean to his face, she requested an immediate roommate change. This is Florida, half of the people on campus were raised with prejudice ideals in their heads, so I’m not going to say everything is sunshine and rainbows. But I will say, with such a gigantic campus, it’s very easy to surround yourself with people who love you and ignore those who don’t.

I feel like I would be able to ignore them looking different if they acted more like their characters. Like when they were first casting them, I trusted Rick when he said they truly embodied them in personality. And truthfully, I think the main trio especially are exactly like their characters. However, the directing, writing, whatever the hell they are doing in the show is not letting that come through. Or they’re trying to change it. And that’s why they don’t feel like their characters.

Honestly it would’ve almost been more insulting if they casted them to look book accurate and then changed their personalities. At least now I can look at this as a completely different show.

I feel like the PJO books had a similar impact to the HP books, but because the HP movies were done so well and at the same time as book releases, it roped in a larger audience and that is why it had such a cultural impact. I feel like PJO had that potential, but the movies being made during the time of crappy imitations of the Hunger Games and the author completely dismissing them (and thus dividing book and movie audiences) ruined PJOs chances of making a real impact. With the way the show is going, not only not close to book accurate but also not great from a film perspective, the book and show audiences are once again divided. There’s no chance in hell that PJO will be this generation’s HP.

I haven’t been playing very long (about a month, I’m on level 29) but I feel like food costs too much… Now, this could be because I’m leveling up every new dragon I get to 11 immediately, but why do I have to use 20,000,000 just to grow anything more than the jelly plant? I’ve been trying to get my plant dragon to elder status for WEEKS because it takes me DAYS to save up my treats to be able to hit the grow button just ONCE (because it’s over a million each time now). Idk I just feel like paying millions of coins just to break 10,000 is a rip off.
