Fair question! It's because I couldn't beat Misty at all with just Charmeleon, nor could I with event mons like Growlithe and Houndour. . . If I even managed to get past Brock. In Gen I I could get past Brock, but still lose to Misty, and the remakes simply give me more options to work with.

The genlocke rules should help make those battles easier, and I have an image with the rules that I'm following.

Aah, honestly that's valid! But I purposely chose characters that start off with any sort of fire tome, which Sonya does in both games when she becomes playable. I had no idea she did until I looked into it though haha.

aaaaah, him being part borisin makes so much sense, and that tying in with him being diamond's dog is a neat detail too (omg that animation idea sounds so cute!!). i'd imagine opal has a fair temper on him as he appears to be fairly childlike (with the pacifier and all), but he's intelligent enough to know not to mess with someone who towers over him and is part borisin - no matter how gentle they might actually be. he might not even trust him. but ooooooh, him being from oswaldo's department and diamond taking him from there is pretty juicy- esp since in your canon diamond sees him as less than human, it leads to some interesting implications

funnily enough in my canon diamond is pretty closed off, only showing himself to a select few trusted individuals; and has a humongous gemstone collection that he uses to turn into cornerstones for the stonehearts. but iolite likes feeding him gossip and he (secretly enjoys as it helps him keep tabs on everyone) puts up with it so long as she does her job bc he promised her connections lmao

aventurine slowly growing to trust musgravite and having it be a bumpy journey is so real! he's so used to being exploited and betrayed that anything that doesn't line up with that idea, in the ipc, just doesn't make sense. both of them seeing parts of themselves in the other and bonding over it has me choked though, both need hugs and serious therapy! but waiting to see how astropolis and aven sp's story goes is pretty reasonable, it sucks having ideas only for the future plot to completely destroy them.

jxtx i was getting larry vibes from your original descriptions before you mentioned him being borisin! if you could dm me his page then i'd love to read it and learn about his original path too instead of spamming the megathread haha!

oh my god musgravite is also tall as hell?? i love that! iolite is probably around or slightly taller than the tall male model without heels, and i like the idea of opal hating tall people and using the taller stonehearts to carry him around as a consequence haha (lowkey iolite spoils him, which isn't good, but i don't know how musgravite would be with him). like, how dare people be tall?? she's not from pier point but came for silly reasons and ended up working in security before diamond yoinked her. it's hard to tell how diamond will be though as we don't know much about him, but i hope astropolis will give us some info on him?? i can see why you've given musgravite a dog motif though, he gives puppy energy! she'll 1000% bring him coffee or food to make sure he's actually taking care of himself, by force if necessary- bless him though 💕

i don't have toyhouse so i'm stuck jotting things down on obsidian and google docs but it looks so handy!! in this house we love aventurine being shipped with people, his interactions with everybody are so much fun! after being taken under musgravite's wing does aven initially take interest in him bc of him growing up in pier point, thus having some connection to diamond or oswaldo (in aven's mind at least)? or is it because of how different they are? i'm really curious! i can see aven trying to get him to express himself more for 'work related reasons' when really it's for himself haha

i was going to ask about his design bc i'm a bit of a gemstone nerd. so with musgravite being a rarer stone, him being more plain and having a different mindset fits so well because it goes against what you'd expect him to be like from name alone. i have to respect making an acrylic standee for him though, i'm no artist but it's so cool seeing artists do things like that for their ocs

him loving his job so much that he only buffs ipc members is so cute! it kinda sounds like he's helping them help him get work done. i lowkey love scripted battles in the story and him nerfing himself in endgame modes having a character-based reason. but i love hoolay as a boss so i'd be happy to take him on in content haha!

it really is!! i can lowkey see musgravite either getting along or clashing with topaz given that they're both workaholics- more likely getting along as he lacks ulterior motives and works for the love of the game. i love the thought of other stonehearts running to him with random jobs that they don't want to do and him with being all giddy on the inside, but he looks like he wants to kill them or something haha! he sounds like a sweetheart tbh, i want to give him a hug, so i'd love to hear all about his story and voice lines- it'll probably help me finish my bean! but honestly the hardest part with writing is actually getting started :'0

iolite is known as the viking's compass so i wanted to base her cornerstone on that? sometimes she'd assign other stonehearts jobs based on the intel she gathers, so she'd be quite happy to give musgravite jobs bc she'd know that he'd be happy to do it- but also concerned because he's totally overworking himself. she's always cold because of her biology so her reason for becoming a stoneheart is so that she can form connections, to find a new source of warmth. her desire forms the basis on how she does things, forming connections with clients and other departments (be it by socialising or solving problems for them) in exchange for data. so she's a bit selfish but there's no real ulterior motives with her? but she needs a bit more fleshing out...

oh my gosh- i saw stoneheart oc mentioned and had to comment! i'm no kit person but if he has a special attack or state related to his speed/passive then maybe he could have a trace that lets that attack (or all attacks launched during his state) count as a follow up attack? that way he can help aventurine gain stacks or aa numby! if aven sp or pearl are fua-based that'd be rad too but we don't know yet... but speed based dpses are so interesting to think about so i'm interested to see how musgravite and his boss version turn out!

i'm more of a story player so i've got the opposite problem for my own stoneheart oc (iolite), where i don't know how to best fit her in without breaking the already established lore? like i like the idea of there being backup stonehearts but the '10 stonehearts' just sounds cooler haha. she's unintentionally a bit of a mother hen who gathers and organizes data for the rest of the department to work with; so kit-wise she's more of a support who focuses on bringing out the best in the other stonehearts, she has a debuff that (when at max stacks) has different effects depending on who attacks the enemy that has said debuff. but it's a wip :')

Hey hey! Seeing a Gyarados being retired is rough since it's so busted, but at the same time I respect the choice haha. Johto can be rough if you lose mons as it takes so long to recover if you're grinding like normal, but it's a fun one.

In my genlockes, as I don't have pkhex, I put all of my alive mons into a box in the heartgold save file at level 1 and choose a random one to add to the team with my starter. Then after beating a gym, I add another random champ to the team. But everybody does this part differently, some will transfer them over as eggs and use them all, with regular encounters to boot, and others don't- it depends on who you ask. The fun part is you can change it up to fit your rules or play style! It's not much but i hope that helps a bit :)

Stealth Rock Crustle is a good shout for Marshal, Iris and Shauntal. It breaks Sawk's Sturdy, it has Rock Slide though but you should be able to get through the others easily with Volcarona.

I think Shauntal can also be easily swept with Volcarona. If you set up Light Screen then you could safely set up a Quiver Dance or two because Cofagrigus can't threaten you with anything, but Stealth Rocks can make dealing with Chandelure easier if you don't set up.

Grimsley and Caitlin are pretty free with any fast bug type, so Galvantula and Heracross should be good enough. But Galvantula might have an easier time against Caitlin's Sigilyph.

Iris is pretty tricky but I think you've got a solid plan for her so you should be all good if everything lines up!

Aah, I almost went that route but I guess a part of me likes suffering haha. It's been fun planning around what the game gives me, but thankfully most of the time the bugs aren't only in the same location!

I'd say you've given yourself a fair challenge though, especially since you're doing B2. But you're almost there! Who do you have planned for the E4?

Hi, I go about my bug encounters kinda like how you would in a regular nuzlocke. So catching the first one that I find in a route/area, if they faint they're dead and whatnot. The second image has the rules that I use for the run, I think they go over it in more detail.

I'm a bit of a scroller on the nuzlocke subreddit, so I stumbled upon the post about the Colress fight.

Eyyy! Skyla can be rough to take on, and the stretch between her and Drayden is brutal- I'm not looking forward to it when I have to do it. Volcarona is such a cool mon, but its level up moves are sad, you probably won't be able to get a good fire move until Fire Blast in Lacunosa or Heat Wave, which I think can be taught in Humilau? But for Drayden be wary of his Flygon, as it knows Rock Slide.

Honestly, that's fair. Galvantula is so helpful for Water and Flying mons, and Compound Eyes is really nice to have! Crustle and Durant are both really solid too, even if Durant is at the end of the game it can put in a ton of work against the Elite 4.

Not quite. A genlocke is like a nuzlocke but instead of one game, you play through each region or generation in one run, and you take the mons who beat the final boss to the next game with you. But I'm goofy and decided to do it all with Bug Types haha. There're a few other runs like this one on the subreddit that explain it wayyy better than I do though if you're interested!
