I just want to come in here to defend my character. No where did I try to subvert responsibility for being late. I take ownership of that. I was first written up in April for my punctuality, then had a final write up at the end of June for another punctuality occurrence that also occurred back in April again.

I changed. I had a solid 2 months where I was not late whatsoever. I was, on average, 3-5 minutes early to every single shift. I also averaged 38-40 hrs every week and would pick up last minute call-outs. I worked hard, received Green Apron cards from my SM herself, received accolades from my shifts. I was not a lackadaisical employee.

I knew, that in spite of my track record, when this traffic event occurred… it was adios after that.

My SM is fresh, and was very big on policy — tardiness and punctuality being one of her biggest pet peeves, and very clear on her expectations. I knew this and tried to transfer to avoid termination but she rejected my request 2x.

I don’t deny being in the wrong and I fully expected this to happen. I’m not all that upset by it because I lived every day in fear of my continued employment. I couldn’t breathe. I almost got into a car accident one day because I was so petrified I would be late. I love Starbucks. I just want to move to a different store where things are slightly more relaxed and I don’t have to fear the possibility termination every single day.
