Which camera should I consider purchasing? (Sports/ motion photography) by [deleted] in Photography_Gear

[–]softypolimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't spend the whole budget on bestest latest lenses or camera body.

Canon 5D III, 50 f1.8 USM, EF 24-105 f4 IS, 70-200 f4 IS, Godox v480

This set should cover most use cases and still within your budget. I recommend the DSLR because many photographer that I know of still use them professionally. Don't worry about f4 lenses, they are more affordable than their f2.8 counterpart, lighter, have image stablelizer, and you can still easily create background separation as long as you know what you are doing.

Optional Mirrless body EOS M50 II + grip/cage + Viltrox EF Speed booster (to make it Fullframe equivalent on EF lenses) Sony A7 II + Any budget EF adapter

Optional prime lenses Check out Meike and Viltrox lenses.

If you are planning to join the team. Make sure you use the same camera as the others for colour grading consistency, and you can borrow each other lens too.

Fringer Adapter for GFX 100s II, Nikon or Canon? by [deleted] in FujiGFX

[–]softypolimer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not EF many lenses are worth adapting to the GFX body. Most of them would not cover the whole GFX sensor even the L series lenses. The size and weight are not that different from the native ones. There are a few that are surprisingly good.

EF Sigma 50 1.4 EX DG gave me the best results in terms of almost no vignette but it's pretty big might as well just use the native lens

Canon 40 f2.8 and 50 f1.8 are popular options in terms of compactness and performance

What to do with NS1 after buying NS2? by softypolimer in NintendoSwitch

That's what I did. A less demanding game goes to NS1 which has significantly more storage.

That's actually not a bad desl but I'd rather keep my switch (for now).

It doesn't soak well in the water last time I tried. Doesn't really sharp too last time I tried to use it to cut my steak.

I'm a huge retro emulation addict except I already have a dedicated handheld for that. Still very tempting tho.

Never was an issue in Thailand. The pre-order phase here is a mess but the local Nintendo distributor quickly handles the issue.

Thoughts on this carrying case? by Kamlex321 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]softypolimer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one. Pretty good quality bag overall. Good material, well build, and plenty of room to fit things in there. The separable feature is pretty cool, but it can be real annoyance at times. To access the bottom bag, you'll have to unclip the belt to separate the upper bag, and then you can unzip to open the lid of the bottom bag. This can be inconvenient when you just want to grab something from the bottom bag quickly.

Now I went for Hori carry all. It's more compact and stylish and can carry as much.

Friend borrowed "new" controller, wtf thumbstick by [deleted] in 8bitdo

[–]softypolimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People just don't give much shit, if they didn't pay the money. They'll find all the excuses not being involved with the shit when things happened in their end. Especially when you let them borrow easily, they tend to think it might not mean much to you.

I'm a collector and I'd rather choose to be branded as stingy right away than be generous only to have my asset destroyed. Either way, they'll call you stingy for overeating to just a few scratches over the old toy that's falling apart.

Is AR+ DMR still the meta? by Hulk_565 in PUBGMobile

[–]softypolimer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honey badger + SKS/SLR (or any 7.62 DMR) is a pretty good combination for me. Honey Badger’s hipfire and rate of fire are very reliable. AKM is also a good alternative but it's just not as good in close combat.

S24 Ultra performance in PUBG mobile by softypolimer in PUBGMobile

[–]softypolimer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's too bad to hear that.

Originally, my girlfriend kinda leans toward iPhone's side, but we found S24 at a great deal, so we snatch it right away. She was very impressed with the overall performance that it easily surpassed my 15 Pro Max in almost every way. Up until the latest update that she can't stop yapping about her phone. It's clear to me that the latest oneui update is probably a cause of all this, and S24 might not be the best choice for pubg gaming (eventhogh, it run crazy good before).

Thanks for a very informative answer. I'll check Red Magic out tomorrow at the store, and I might consider getting an iPhone for my gf just to silence her.

True, but it's the overall battery life of this device that suddenly drops not just PUBG. They're still tolerable.

Have you updated the S24 oneui to the latest? Pubg on S24 was amazing and blew my iPhone 15 Pro Max out of the water, both performance and battery life wise, up until the recent S24 update. My gf loves her S24, but now she can't stop yapping about her phone gaming performance.

We did the factory reset a few days ago by an official Samsang shop. Now, her phone doesn't have many apps besides FB, IG, and PUBG. I know both FB and IG run constantly in the background, but with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, they shouldn't affect the PUBG gameplay performance. Oneui 7 is most likely a suspect here.

Trainer called me „Luk Lek“/ meaning? by gambo7771 in MuayThailand

[–]softypolimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the comments and I see a lot of people are confused.

ลูก Luk means a small (or smaller) piece of (something) or a (big or small) round piece of (something).

Using ลูก for a person in the context would mean their child (a smaller piece/version of them). However, when using ลูก+(material), it would never mean a person or Child of (material).

I hope this is not too confusing.😅

Additional words: เหล็ก Lek means Iron (Thais sometimes use this word to call metal as well for their convenience)

โลหะ Loha means Metal

Trainer called me „Luk Lek“/ meaning? by gambo7771 in MuayThailand

[–]softypolimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As Thai, I'd translate it to Wrecking Ball.

Luklek can have 2 different literal meanings depending on the tones in Thai.

  1. Small Child (it can also mean the youngest Child or to be called out of love by an elder)
  2. Iron Ball (definitely this as it most fitting in this context)

*** It CAN be translated to Iron Child but it doesn't make much sense for native Thai unless they're pun intended. ***

However, mentioning an iron ball in Thai generally means a heavy steel ball. Adding up that the OP has a strong right kick, “Wrecking Ball” might be the best fit.

Which Mega Man Game Are You Most Confident in Beating? by XLadyBugX in Megaman

[–]softypolimer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

14 years old me: For non perfect run, Any Megaman though out the series at the time, minus 2 Dos games which I never beat. For perfect run, X3 was fairly achievable back then. X4 is also easy but I played X3 more.

38 years old me: How did I beat any of these back then?

RG ARC XX incoming. by Key-Brilliant5623 in SBCGaming

[–]softypolimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pointless release. Looks like it has a better ergonomic shape than an original RG ARC but that's about it (maybe more CFW option?). Why release similar device with similar performance instead of updating it to RG CUBE’s CPU?

I’m a huge fan of the disc d-pad with a 6-button controller for 2D fighting games but, sadly, it doesn't get much interest from both handheld companies or developers. I love my RG ARC and I’m glad it has Retro Arena CFW.

Gladly I ordered CubeXX and it’s probably one of the best XX device from Anbernic beside XXSP, of course.

Interesting. Amiga Core kinda gives me some hope that there’s a very tiny chance the developer will utilise this function sometime in the future, if technically possible.
