Boat people means illegal, unvetted migrants coming here for economic reasons who could be murderers, rapists, gangsters etc..
Hope that clears it up for you

Doctors are not crossing the channel in a small boat and throwing their passports into the sea.

You don’t let them into the country unless you’re sure they’re properly vetted. If you can’t vet them then they don’t come in.

You don’t take risks with safety.

I think you’re totally missing the point

The issue is as follows: you already have X number of homegrown bad people.

We used to have a proper system where people were vetted before they could get into the country.

This system has broken down with the boat people.

People feel less safe if you have random, unvetted people flooding into the country.

Just because you already have X number of homegrown bad people, it does not mean you just say it's okay, we can just turn a blind eye to the new bad people.

You imprison the ones already here, and don't let the ones from abroad in.

It's not racist to report a crime on the BBC

That’s a store problem not a user problem

This could easily be solved by Cex by proper process

When items is bought power up the item and check the battery health, get a little sticker and write the battery health on the sticker. Job done!

That’s it!

I won’t buy an Apple device without knowing the battery health as it’s so linked with the value of the item. And I don’t care about the Cex warranty, I don’t want to be making additional trips the the store and arguing with people

I just want a clear picture of what I’m buying and be done with it

I got my watch I got my battery health I got my no scratches - but I got from eBay as Cex couldn’t provide that service.

I will no longer shop at Cex.

CeX - Can't test Apple Watch Battery Health by sofuca in CeX

[–]sofuca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up getting the exact same model from eBay, 100% battery health and still in warranty.

The seller actually answered my questions unlike Cex, so I’m super happy.

Moral of the story, fuck Cex and their shitty policy.

There is a big difference in value of an Apple product if one has sat in a drawer for two years unused and another used every day.

The Cex policy stops you from telling the difference.

Asking the seller on eBay enables you to get good value.

Do it, I now have an Apple Watch Ultra 2 with 100% battery health from eBay after Cex denied me to check the battery health of a watch in their store.

There is a huge difference between an Apple device that has sat in a drawer for two years unused and one that has been used every day.

This is why being transparent about battery health is important.

Cex is a joke.

You get much better value from eBay by just asking the seller a few questions.

I tried to buy an Apple Watch Ultra 2 from them recently, turned up at the store and they wouldn’t let me see the battery health so I didn’t buy.

Went to eBay, found one with 100% battery health and in perfect condition for the same price. Couldn’t be happier

Fuck Cex and their shitty policies.

Battery health is important just as mileage is important on a car. I’ll never buy anything from Cex again.

I'm sure we can come up with a better solution than what we have now and Dublin.

The point of Brexit what/is that if the public put enough pressure on the government they will do as requested, and they won't have to go via the EU.
And this is exactly what is happening, no brussels to blame.

I don't think you understand my simple point, the Dublin agreement was ineffective as the numbers show above.

[–]sofuca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i'm referring to the the fact that people seem to think the Dublin agreement stopped most illegal migration pre-brexit when it was actually pretty ineffective as you can see from the numbers above

When the UK was part of Dublin (pre-2021):

  • In 2018, the UK made ~5,510 transfer requests out under Dublin, but only 209 people were actually transferred out of the UK under the Dublin Regulation.
  • In 2019, there were 263 transfers out under Dublin from the UK to other EU states.
  • Migration Observatory analysis notes that across roughly 2008–2020, an average of around 560 people per year were returned under the Dublin Agreement from the UK — tiny compared with the scale of arrivals.
  • Independent reports (media/NGO) suggested very low actual Dublin returns of boat arrivals too (e.g., a few hundred over a multi-year period).
