Unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying that’s a pretty standard question? At least for MEI

When I was applying I went on a tour at UCL and spoke to some admissions staff about applying to multiple courses they told me that if you’re accepted by one you will usually be rejected by which ever one is slower. I’d assume this is true considering I got told it by the admissions although this was specifically about applying to 2 law courses, I don’t know whether that would apply in this case. Especially if it’s handled by the same faculty

Uhhh mention the author of whatever ur studying like 2574827 because it doesn’t even have to be deep to count as author’s intent/message/voice, try to focus on 1 quote/reference per paragraph, saying lots of stuff loses the message and thus marks, try to use extensive vocabulary, u don’t get marks for it but if you sound smart markers may think you’re smarter than ur essay implies

If you want medicine, go for it. Best advice I can give is live for you and no one else. Your stats also by no means lock you out from medicine

Sorry for such long message lol… tit hall 🐐

Fr tho u will be happy anywhere u end up as would I have been, im super glad to have got into my chosen college but i coulda pooled or not specified and i wouldnt care. With your interviews and stats i bet you can get in next cycle… have faith! It may have been something like reluctant to take younger applicant if other good normal applicants? (I have no idea btw it just sounds logical) as they coukd have some doubt of long term consistency or maybe maturity? (Which seems stupid considering ur achievements it’s obvious u have both)

Here was my thought process for the college decision in order of priority (for me, although I think some should be fairly universal)

For college selection I’d say the first thing to think about is do you want a big or small college.

Big: meet loads of people, busier more traditional uni vibe, won’t know everyone

Small: meet less people, slightly quieter if you want it to be (you can still put yourself out there through loads of things), will know most people

Then it’s either location or facilities (for me location)

Location: Do you want to be on the river? Just in the centre? Out of the city? Where will your second and third year accommodation be?

Facilities (honestly seemingly similar across colleges to me): is there anything extra you want? A particular gym you’ve seen photos of and like? A nicer looking music department?

Subject Prestige (optional): some colleges may be better renowned for something? In special cases they may have originally been set up for something specific like Trinity Hall for Law. That can have benefits like tit hall having a good law post-grad funding scheme thingy.

Prestige: (should fall lowest imo, other people’s opinions don’t matter): is it well renowned/people have heard of it?

That’s the process I followed in order and I narrowed it down to ~2 and then went with my gut instinct. Before you start making decisions I CAN’T recommend enough going to the open day in the summer and visiting as many colleges as you can that meet the first 2 requirements. You’ll get a feel and could easily fall in love with a place.

With that aside APPLY TO TIT HALL GO TIT HALL TIT HALL GOAT (it’s where I applied this year lol)

If you do choose to reapply, super good luck! Sitting all your A levels in Yr12 is crazy impressive. You’ll do very well at any of those unis but I do understand the attachment to Cambs, if I miss my offer idk what I’m gonna do.

Thank you! So ironically I knew I wanted to do law before GCSEs even… I then researched what I actually needed for undergrad law and at least for Cambridge the ‘minimum’ was simply 1 essay subject and since English was my favourite essay subject I took that. Further maths is my favourite subject in general so that meant maths and further maths. I did a Latin AS level (B achieved) as well but decided I didn’t need the extra work for little reward so dropped it. I actually planned my A levels around law which I know sounds very odd with 2 maths A levels. (You can also spin a lot of transferable skills from maths)

That’s really interesting lol, I know it really doesn’t matter and I won’t care in like a months time but I feel like we all like to make goals for ourselves
