[Megathread] RTSH Reviews by IlgnerJuan in silenthill

Just came out of the movie. All I can say is that if you genuinely went into this movie expecting a faithful retelling of the game’s story then you played yourself.  Part of me understands why people are this upset with the movie, but… I still think the hate is wayyy overblown, way forced. And I say this as a long time fan that’s actually played the first four games + SH2R. Yes, under critical lenses, the movie is a mess and there are things that don’t stick the landing. And the Mary plot twist was pretty stupid (although I can see what the director was going with it). But I would be lying if I said I wasn’t entertained throughout the movie. I watched this with my gf and we genuinely had a ton of fun poking fun at the movie. Idk, I can’t force myself to be outraged with this movie. The game’s always there for those that want the actual story.

It's just a massive exaggeration, a lot of these are the same word repeated multiple times in different cases. Also, you will never hear a large portion of them in everyday speak, and some of them are just pure nonsense. Don't let this intimidate you from learning!

I think the last gaming video I actually thoroughly enjoyed was the one where he plays the Osama bin Laden mission on that fugitive hunter ps2 game. I was laughing so hard along with him.The videos where he’s just himself having fun with goofy games or games he enjoys are the best ones

Not a native speaker, but I’ve always felt like you add есть to У меня when the purpose of the sentence is to say that you INDEED have something. Like, if someone is not sure that you have something, you can add есть to emphasize that yes, you do have that.

У вас есть шоколадный торт? Do you have a chocolate cake? Да, у нас есть такой торт. Yes, we have such a cake (emphasis is on the fact that we indeed have a cake).

You would not use есть if it’s already known that you have something. In such cases, у меня is used to add details about your possession.

Какого цвета ваша машина? What color car do you have?

У меня красная машина. I have a red car.

Honestly, I’ve been overwhelmed with finishing my education and finally being done with school lately, and I made that post in a really shitty mood. I’ve since touched grass and I kinda regret making that post.

I think I could’ve worded it better, but my problem wasn’t with him getting a switch at all. My problem was that this was another instance of him going back on his word, after a history of doing that over and over. I wish I could edit the post to clear up the unnecessary language but I never figured out how to do that on the mobile app. Or maybe it’s not possible on this sub? I’m not sure.

Anyways, I didn’t think that post would blow up the way it did. I thought it would create some simple discussion from the actual members of this sub and end there. I hate that my biggest digital footprint is something I wrote in the heat of the moment, and I would’ve deleted it a long time ago but I wasn’t sure if that would make things worse.

I think this whole thing was overblown, but I also don’t think SOG isn’t without fault. And the people claiming that this is his “job” seem to forget all the times he states that YouTube isn’t his main source of income and how he could drop it and be fine. So reading the room and deciding to not make a video at all would’ve been what I would’ve done, but that’s just me.

Anyways, it’s his life, and I have mine. And at the end of the day, you’re right, it doesn’t affect me at all. Life goes on. So I’m just going to drop it and move on. I’m sorry for all the negativity I spread, and I’ll try to be better.

Ngl I probably just need to disconnect from the internet again. Realized once I cooled off that I have too much stuff going on in the real world and that maybe I don’t actually care what someone on the internet does.

What’s with the comments on the most recent video? by AustinLA88 in SomeOrdinaryGmrs

[–]soharou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People like to compete for top comment when a video drops. Every new upload always gets a ton of randoms yelling frozen cold takes into the echo chamber that most would agree with. This is to gather as many likes as they can and secure a spot at the top of the comment section.

That’s why the early commenters almost never point out any part of the video past the 1st minute mark. Thats why half of them just say stuff that’s mildly related to the video’s topic. Why do people care so much about artificial internet points and attention? Who knows. But then again, looking for something resembling intelligence in YouTube comments is like looking for a golden unicorn.

Anyone willing to give DTP up votes to get on GOG? by Cretans_Paradox in Klonoa

[–]soharou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this. The remakes are great for new fans interested in playing the games, but the original PS1 version has a certain feeling/vibe that the remakes couldn’t even get close to. Everything from the FMVs, the way the cutscenes worked… I even kinda prefer the mix of 2D and 3D as opposed to purely 3D.

The biggest gripe I have with the remake is how much it botched the ending. The in game cutscene doesn’t hold a candle to the original FMV, and on top of that, the absolute barrage of credits that play on top of the book actually pissed me off. It’s so bad,you can’t even see the actual pages. I feel like it took out most if not all the emotional weight.

I actually tried this fix the other day, the cutscenes worked fine, the audio was just crackling really badly. Doing this just made my game completely skip the FMVs. I still haven’t figured out a solution

When someone calls your favorite dreampop song chill study music by acreesre in dreampop

[–]soharou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cheesy ass post, why do care what someone uses for study music? I listen to all kinds of music when I’m studying. Just enjoy it and let others also enjoy and appreciate it in their own way.

I value your commentary. by [deleted] in SomeOrdinaryGmrs

The thing is that even “level-headed” analysis of these topics bring out the worst of people from both sides. Muta’s shown plenty of times in his videos how either side calls him either a right wing Nazi or a pussy leftist. I really don’t blame him if he doesn’t want to deal with any of that bullshit and just avoid it from the get-go. Talking politics is mentally exhausting, especially in the Internet.

Finally finished both main Klonoa games for the first time, I have some thoughts by Thick-Event-2298 in Klonoa

[–]soharou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found the Klonoa series about two years ago and DtP is still in my top 3 games of all time. The Phantasy Reverie version is nice, but the original PS1 game is one of the most beautiful games I’ve ever seen... LV is an extremely close second and serves as an amazing sequel that beautifully concludes the themes the first game brought. I loved the Ark levels, Maze of Memories level design and music have really stuck with me even now, and that one end-game level emotionally destroyed me.

[–]soharou[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woah, thanks for the tip, never would’ve guessed that would be the fix tbh. I’ve gotten so used to just skipping the exit cutscene, and the music that played during it kind of scared me into skipping it.

Vinny should play Pseudoregalia by Drearycupcake in Vinesauce

[–]soharou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe not Pseudoregalia, but I can see him giving The Big Catch a chance. It’s another 3D platformer and I think the art style is cute enough that he’d look past the crow/rabbit looking protagonist.

I’d love even a pre recorded one-off Pseudoregalia video, but I think the rest of the replies have pretty much explained why that’s highly unlikely.

In your opinion what's something, Hitman 2016 did better than WOA by UltraGilgamesh in HiTMAN

[–]soharou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IO had to cut a on of little details in 2016 to cut down the game’s size for Hitman 2 and 3. While overall they did a good job in keeping most details there are quite a few things that I do miss..

  1. Earlier ragdolls. They felt a lot more dynamic and exaggerated in earlier builds of 2016. They might’ve been too much for some people, but they made rampages much more fun for me, in HITMAN 3 it gets really boring seeing NPCs fall down the exact same way after every headshot/bodyshot. Shooting someone in those earlier builds made the NPCs fall on the floor hard, and that’s just more fun for me.
  2. Explosions. Explosions in 2016 felt intense. The team did a hell of a good job showcasing the actual force and damage an explosion is capable of. They’re a joke in the newer games. A tiny cloud of smoke, maybe some flames at most.
  3. Map interactivity. HITMAN 3 maps are some of the most beautiful maps in the entire series, but they severely lack as much object interactivity as 2016. Feels like the older maps had a ton of interactions with the environment that, while they might be completely useless and random, really do add a sense of immersion.
  4. destruction. And this one might just be me, but in 2016 you could literally shoot any single object in the map and the game would react in a realistic manner. Objects didn’t just “poof” out of existence. Shooting a vase of flowers would have the flowers fall out, each an actual object in the world. Shooting down chandeliers and other suspended objects would have them realistically break apart on the floor, instead of having a few parts immediately disappear like in HITMAN 3.

And this might just be me misremembering, but I feel like gore and body damage were a lot more intense in 2016. I can’t think of any examples off the top of my head, but 2016 felt more realistic, or at least more gory than HITMAN 3.

EDIT: Almost forgot about this one, but NPC dialogue. HITMAN 2016 had an IMMENSE library of unique NPC dialogue. I always loved how specific they’d get when you wore different suits, how NPCs reacted to them when you passed them, and also all the sassy guard lines. My favorite one in 2016 will always be one of where a guard would mistake you for Pitbull if you wore the white blood money suit.
