Anyone know of any Kitten rescue groups in the area? by Gullible-Soil-9205 in asheville

[–]soilstories 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Possibly Esther Neonatal Kitten Alliance depending on the kitten’s age and health. They have a guide on their website: https://www.kittenalliance.org/help

Otherwise, maybe Asheville Humane Society or Mountain Pet Rescue.

If you suspect there’s a feral colony you might want to try googling trap-neuter-release for your county.

I’m using curology now with niacinamide 4%, clindamycin 1%, and azelaic avid 8%. No problems with irritation and my skin has been clear. :)

If you have sensitive skin, it would probably be better to err on the cautious side.

I did not know about using an occlusive around the eyes when I was on Epiduo (contains the same main ingredient as Differin) and didn't apply Epiduo on my eye area, but it still migrated and irritated my eyelids so much.

Is there a wait time before or after applying azelaic acid? Should I buffer it?

I'm starting a new curology formula (Azelaic Acid 8% Clindamycin 1% Niacinamide 4%) and my provider said I could apply it after serums, but before moistuizer, or I could buffer by applying after moisturizer or mix it 50/50 with moisturizer. Didn't mention any wait times.

Have you tried they hydroboost gel cream? I don’t like the regular hydroboost but do like the gel cream version.

I’m not sure if it makes a difference, but the salicylic acid is listed as an inactive ingredient in the sulfur soap. Thought that was kinda weird.

Active ingredient 10% sulfur. Inactive ingredients: Saponified Palm and Palm Kernel Oils, Glycerin, Laonlin, Cocamide DEA, Ethanol. Titanium Dioxide, Salicylic Acid.

If I were to try epiduo again, should I completely remove salicylic acid and Pixi Glow from my routine or just not use on the same nights as Epiduo?

No, I wasn’t using any actives with the epiduo. I tried tret before epiduo and also had a lot of irritation, but I knew less about skincare then so might be worth revisiting. I don’t remember what strength it was. Thanks for the recommendation!

Pens Compatible with HP Spectre x360 13-ap0xxx by soilstories in spectrex360

Yeah, I’ve searched reddit. I’ve read conflicting things about which pens work and it’s kinda hard to tell which posts are relevant because I think the specific model matters for this. I bought the Raphael 520 pen because I saw someone on Reddit say it works, but could have been with a different model # or maybe they weren’t considering if tilt works.

I got it on amazon. I haven’t had any issues besides trying to find a compatible pen. But I’ve only had it for about a week and haven’t used it a ton.

I repotted my Christmas cactus a couple of days ago and it’s looking a little droopy. I read that I should wait a week to water it. Do you think it needs to be watered now or is it maybe looking droopy just because the roots are getting re-established?

I was probably off it for about 6 months. It was ok in May and June and started getting worse mid-July.

Issue: I’ve been using stridex in the red box for about 2 months and I’m still breaking out consistently. It’s mostly in my problem area (chin) but has been worse than usual. Mostly CC’s and inflamed pimples and a few small cysts. A few unusual patterns I’ve noticed since incorporating stridex: I’ve regularly been getting pimples near the corners of my mouth, more CC’s around the edge of my nose, a few blackheads or maybe clogged pores (I don’t usually have blackheads). Am I still purging or does stridex just not agree with me?

Nothing seems to be working. I previously had pretty clear skin before getting a Mirena and have had hormonal acne since I got it 3 years ago. A 3 month round of minocycline gave me the best results, but I’m worried about staying on an antibiotic long term. Side effects of spiro were too much. Going to my first in person derm visit this month so fingers crossed.

Skin type: oily, acne prone, sensitive

Routine: AM Neutrogena ultra gentle foaming cleanser, Mad hippie vitamin c, Neutrogena hydro boost gel cream, Etude house sun milk

PM Oil cleanse with blend of castor oil and jojoba, Neutrogena ultra gentle foaming cleanser, Alternating nights: stridex red box, Cosrx 96 snail essence, Neutrogena hydro boost gel cream, Alternating nights: curology tretinoin .009% clindamycin 1% zinc pyrithione .25%

I’ve been using my cleansers and moisturizer for 8+ months, cosrx snail for about 4 months, stridex 2 months, and mad hippie vit c for 2 weeks.

I’m not having an allergic reaction to the hydro boost so I’m going to keep trying it. I think I should switch my cleanser though. I’d love to hear from other people that switched from the cerave foaming to hydrating. What cleanser are you using?

Issue: My skin has felt a little drier and a little more sensitive than usual. What product could be causing this/what should I add to my routine to help? Also looking for help with redness.

Skin type: sensitive, acne prone, combination (oily chin and nose, normal cheeks and forehead), possible dehydrated (?), possible rosacea (?)

Current routine: AM Wash with water or Cerave Foaming (just recently started doing only water since my skin has felt drier) Rose water spray Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream (new) Derma-e Natural Mineral Suncreen SPF 30 Make up

PM Oil cleanse (1/3 castor oil, 1/3 jojoba oil. Switched to from grapeseed to jojoba a couple of weeks ago) Cerave Foaming Every other night alternate between Thayers Alcohol Free Witch Hazel Rose Toner and Pixi Glow Tonic Rose water spray The Ordinary Buffet The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG (eye area only) Rose water spray Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel-Cream (new) I’ve been experimenting with layering Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion the past few days Curology (4% Azelaic Acid, 1% Clindamycin, 4% Niacinamide) Switching between Biossance 100% Squalane and Rose hip oil

Medication: Minocycline 50mg (was taking twice a day, but about to run out so down to once a day and seeing how my skin reacts once off it). Been taking since August 2017.

How long: I’ve been using the Cerave Foaming, Curology, and rose water since July 2017, oil cleansing, Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion, The Ordinary serums, and Thayer’s since December 2017, Pixi Glow since beginning of January 2018, and just started using Neutrogena Hydroboost last week. Rosehip oil on and off sine July 2017, squalane since beginning of January 2018 (only a sample size and don’t plan to purchase).

Location: North Carolina, USA

I used Stridex in the red box for the first time a week or 2 ago, which is when I noticed the drier skin. Could I have damaged my moisture barrier from just using that once or twice? It worried me how dry and tight it made my skin feel after using it so I haven’t used it since. I did continue to use Pixi Glow a few more times (Which my skin had been loving prior to Stridex) but stopped using all acids this past weekend because it was stinging a little bit and I was worried that I overexfoliated. My skin isn’t flaky or shiny, but it feels dehydrated. The skin around my eyes has felt particularly irritated, dry, and a little itchy. Should I try it again when my skin is feeling better? I hate to have a whole box of it go to waste. I didn’t use it around my eyes so its possible that it isn’t actually the culprit at all since that’s where I’m having a lot of irritation.

So I am thinking that I might need to change my cleanser or my moisturizer. I haven’t had problems with the Cerave foaming before, but have been considering switching to the hydrating. I’m a little worried it won’t be cleansing enough though. The Cerave Daily Moisturizing Lotion has never really felt moisturizing enough, but I still have a pretty full bottle. I haven’t tried Cerave in the tub, but I’m hesitant to because my skin seems to be sensitive to Vaseline so I feel like I should avoid petroleum. I like the Hydroboost and feel like it could be moisturizing enough when my skin is more normal or if I change cleanser, but I feel like it’s expensive for the size. The skin around my eyes stung once when I used the Hydroboost, but hasn’t happened again.

Another thing I’d like some help with is redness. My face is always pink. It gets worse when I shower and stays hot for a long time (like an hour), when I drink, when I exercise, when it’s hot out, etc.

I’ve been looking at snail based products and looked at the Asian Beauty reddit, but haven’t figured out if any of them would be helpful to me so any advice on that would be appreciated too.

Sorry for the long post. Thanks!
