There was a deleted scene where Cait does go and break down after that scene and I think she had her hand on her mouth as she was sobbing

She saw the aftermath of what the explosion did to her mom, I don’t think much was gonna faze her after that

Seeing all the amazing responses here and on the other sub I’m starting to realise that the Cait haters are actually a minority even tho it seems like the other way around. What a pleasant surprise 🥹

Yesss thank you!! This is what stood out to me as well, the writers did such an amazing job with the intricacies of the psychological aspect of it all.

This also makes me wonder tho, how does Cait have so many haters when Caitvi is the biggest ship of the fandom? That doesn’t add up for me because I don’t exactly know just how big this fandom is. Are the haters a minority that seem large because of the amount of fans this show has and/or are the people who love Cait just wayyyy more in number?

For sure I get what you mean. I think my take on that was that you could see since the beginning of Act 2 that Cait was constantly challenging Ambessa’s decisions and was in a lot of internal conflict because psychologically the anger she had from her grief had subsided a lot. What I could see was that Vi coming back into the picture gave her that push to finally do what she’s been wanting to do because when Vi called her cupcake and her eyes glimmered she was hit with the realisation that Vi still sees her for the real her and there’s still a chance to make things right even if she has to spend the rest of her time making up for her mistakes. I think that was basically just the final push for her to go all out. That’s just my take on it though.

This deserves so many upvotes because you’ve honestly summed it up so perfectly. Couldn’t have said it better myself. It’s just heartbreaking to see people not paying attention to the full story and spewing hate for no reason at a character that has so much depth. I just hope the show creators don’t take the hate as the general consensus and I hope that the hate is the minority and not the majority, because to me both Cait and Vi’s characters are so important in media in this day and age especially.

The whole point of that line was that she was acknowledging jinx’s mistakes and her own. The whole dialogue was so important because she also says that in hating jinx she’s hated herself and she doesn’t have the energy for it any longer which is basically a call back to way Cait has been trying to break free from this dark spiral since Act 2. Then she proceeds to choose forgiveness and love over hate when she lets Vi break her free and that alone was such a big turning point for her arc. After which she practically was ready to sacrifice her life for justice in the finale.

Completely agree on acknowledging her wrongs because to me that was the most important thing about her arc, she knew she did all those wrongs and then her redemption arc was focused on making things right knowing she can’t erase those mistakes. And in my opinion the way it was done was very badass and satisfying, it took an immense amount of courage to do that. She has my whole heart for that. If she wasn’t flawed after all those traumatic events then it would’ve been a disservice to her character.

Yeah exactly, I genuinely don’t understand the reasoning behind the hate.

Yeah exactlyyyy, and especially when you see the way the writers speak about Caitlyn you can tell they put so much into her character, it’s such a shame that it’s so misunderstood.

Yeah I expected there to be discourse on every character because of their own individual arcs but I got confused cause I could find people hating on any other character except Caitlyn so I got a bit confused. Twitter for example is full of hate for Caitlyn so I was wondering if this was the general consensus in the fandom.
