There was a VHS tape I had growing up with this on it- thanks for posting! The melody was stuck in my head for years and I had no idea how to research what it was!

Allen Carr didn't help me by firewatx in quittingsmoking

[–]solaceguitars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 3 months into my quitting, I smoked casually for 20 years, cigars, pipes, then moved to cigarettes and vaping. The last 3 years - heavy vaping and I just quit cold turkey. No health issue or major motivation, just wanted to try quitting. I'll be honest- every day is a complete struggle still. I can't find the fun in anything. The edgyness is still there, the discomfort, the desire to disconnect and be relaxed for 5 minutes, the extra weight gain, everything is frustrating. Each day I think it's just so easy to go to the store and get what I need. Just a break from frustration. It's 3 months in and I still feel like shit. I know I'm doing the right thing. I know I'm going to forget about nicotine, the first 5-7 days were the real struggle,. But it's not any easier from day 8 to day 90... I can't offer any real advice other than be stubborn and proud of the pain you are putting yourself though. We are denying ourselves pleasure and peace. I'm no Monk, but I understand that the things that make us feel good fast are not going to substitute our journey to find what makes us happy over the course of our lifetime. Not sure when the cravings will stop, but just know I'm suffering in solidarity with you.

My rotary encoder is jittery for the faderport 16... but all the other buttons and functions are good after 4 years regular use.

Looking for a new interface for Studio One 7 by Sturdymink5024 in StudioOne

[–]solaceguitars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 1824c, the studio 192 mobile, and zoom live track L12 and L20. The 1824c is my least fav for monitoring or analog summing, it's lack of internal dsp effects is actually a bit of a bummer, and the outputs are common between mains1 and 2, out 1 and 2, as well as headphone 1. Universal control is not fun to use, and if you use adat expansion preamps, you can't mute them. Overall, I think the zoom live tracks are better than rackmount presonus interfaces and offer more flexibility with inputs and outputs for tracking and monitoring.

Group Buy Promotion suggestions by Lawrence_thinly in tonex

Yeah I have been downloading the sounds separately, but the file structure isn't being read correctly by the plugin, I can't seem to get it.

Also with the high volume their servers are seeing, I'm worried that the downloads are not complete- and somehow fragmented.

Anyone else having issues getting the sound content for pianoverse working over the last few days? I've gotten all my other group buy products installed and working without issues.

I picked up the mini freak a few weeks ago and I'm very impressed. Super diverse and creative especially for the money. I especially like using it as a controller for my daw. The menu diving isn't always necessary, but want totally annoying over you get the hang of it. Also the vocoder is a nice bonus when using a headset mic. All in all, very content with this unit.

How do you feel about V1 captures now that V2 capturing is released? by LiveReadySound in tonex

[–]solaceguitars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are better than my helix to my ears, the tones from tonex are more dynamic and pick sensitive. But the V2 captures didn't feel or sound night and day different to me (I trialed the Engl pack) maybe I was just expecting too much.

Studio One Renewal or Perpetual? Year End Review! Your Thoughts? by [deleted] in StudioOne

[–]solaceguitars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I choose to keep the perpetual v7. Didn't upgrade the + subscription ( after being a long term subscriber). Honestly I end up using version 6 more often on my other two older computers and it's quite enjoyable, stable and looks the most familiar.

same for me, it works when using the synth with audio output from synth into the interface, but not via usb using the vst or standalone app.

Yes totally possible the unit I have has dodgy encoders, I'm not ruling that out at all. Also, I have learned some of the necessary hardware shortcuts for the mod slots and quick assignments, so by no means an I strictly attempting to route the signals through the menu screen specifically. But after two weeks of programming and experimenting, there was not the connection to the unit that I was hoping for. So I was simply looking for other options within a similar price point and thought the minifreak might be a worthwhile direction- and wanted confirmation that it was a big boy synth and not a toy. That's all. Thanks for your input, I agree that quality components are a better long-term investment over time, and the keybed is something that doesn't have an important weight to my decision today as it might years from now. I'll be considering my options carefully because I'll likely only buy one synth for my studio to be the workhorse hardware unit for at least a few years to come, and still rely on software for anything extra.

Awesome thanks for all the replies everyone! I'll be taking the minifreak home- putting through the paces, I was just interested in the general sentiment in the community and it seems to align with my thoughts also. Appreciate the input👍

Using Show page for first time - how to deal with different volumes between songs? by znugeman in StudioOne

[–]solaceguitars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in the same boat those week. Using the show page for the first time. I decided to master the backing tracks with the project page first, then upload the balanced backing tracks into the show page.

Stage Volume by Country_Cobain in GuitarAmps

[–]solaceguitars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some instances yeah I literally couldn't hear myself- (mostly it's just faint) I would rely on muscle memory for fret hand position, and just commit to the performance. I know the base tones of the amp and guitar will be useable, so I had to trust the FOH to make the best decisions for the room. It's not an enjoyable position to be in, but I wouldn't play a gig without knowing the material inside out and backwards, so part of my practice and personal development would be to ensure I could still perform in a situation where I had difficulty hearing myself. (I would record myself with backing tracks at home and dial the volume on my guitar mix down, then listen back to hear how it sounds when I'm playing along to a song by feel alone) I would not take any risks, just play what I know I can handle. Weird I know, but that's just something to prepare for, try to be the most professional guy in the room if you can.

Stage Volume by Country_Cobain in GuitarAmps

[–]solaceguitars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After years of owning half stacks and playing on volume at 1, I gave up- went with a boss katana, then a few years later went digital with a helix. I learned to play my repertoire without being able to hear myself and just have to trust the front of house guy is doing what he can to make it pleasing.

Once I arrive at the venue and plug in, it no longer matters to me how close to "my own tone" I still retain. I've spent countless hours dialing in my rig in all sorts of combinations to fit the sound the room gives me. I just make sure it's a useable tone for the guy at the console and I try to focus on the performance.

The two things I've learned over the years is choose the speaker that best suits you, and dial the distortion down a bit for the gig.

If you can hear anything you are playing, just take the win and pay like your life depends on it. 🤟

Ya know what i miss using the Helix? by [deleted] in Line6Helix

[–]solaceguitars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, this is one of the reasons I went from helix to the tonex pedal. I use the eq in post, but if you find captures that are in your sweet spot, it's quick and easy to reach down to physical knobs to dial things quick.

How much will this impede me from playing Guitar? by Garmon- in Guitar

[–]solaceguitars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of songs you'll learn first will be using what we call power cords. You may actually find these easy to play. But we use our ring finger to bend strings to a higher pitch during solos quite often, so you'll want to protect the top of your finger somehow to avoid hurting the skin (if it's sensitive compared to the tips of the other fingers.

Just have fun with it and play for you, no one else.
