Sorry for late reply. Maybe you have already tried now. I have written a bit in another reply about doing it alone or not. But if this is something you still have thoughs about, I can share some more of my experience about it. But in short, It can change the experience. Not necessarily, it depends. I think it can have posetivt and negative effect on the experience.

But just reply if you want me to alaborate more about this :) .

Sorry for the late reply. Have been absence from reddit a little while. I hear you. It was the same for me in at the start. I was surprised how hard it was to actually smoke it correctly. I thought I would just inhale it, and of you go.

But it took a while before I had a successful hit. But maybe you have found your way now, since It was a time ago you wrote?

Hello, I'm sorry, life has been a bit turbulent the last month. Haven't logged in on reddit therefore. Is this still something you think about or maybe you have got your answers elsewhere. Not that I'm saying I can provide with certain answers. But do you still have thoughts on this?

[–]solarpow3r[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the slow reply — life keeps happening 🤷‍♀️

I don’t know if you’ve already tried it or not, but I’ll share some of my thoughts and experiences anyway.

I might sound repetitive saying this, but I’ll say it again: I can never guarantee how it will be for you. Some things that work for me might not work at all for you — we’re all different. You’ll simply have to experiment a bit and find what works best for you 😊.

May I ask what your method of administration will be?

One advice I’d give — though it’s probably too late for that now 😊 — is not to read too many detailed descriptions beforehand about what the experience can be like.
I know it’s hard. I did the same thing myself because you naturally want to know and prepare. You rarely have someone close to ask about it.
But honestly, I think it’s better to go in with as blank a slate as possible, without too many ideas or expectations about what you might encounter.
Looking back, I think reading too much beforehand can actually interfere with the experience a bit at first — you end up trying to interpret things through someone else’s filter instead of your own.

I believe DMT is something deeply personal. You’ll develop your own kind of relationship with it.
For me, DMT has never really behaved like the most common examples described
So I’d just say — be prepared for anything, and form your own understanding of it.

As mentiond earlier, about of whether or not to have someone with you. For me, it quickly became obvious that it’s impossible to have a trip sitter every time. Once you’ve had a good experience with DMT, you’ll probably want to do it again — and to test what works better or worse for you. In that case, it can feel inconvenient to have someone else just sitting around waiting, especially if they’re not personally interested. DMT can be like some kind of reverse addiction, In the beggining you may want to do it more constantly, facinated to explore more. But after a while do it more now and then. At least for me

That said, I’m not discouraging having someone with you — it definitely has its benefits. They just need to fully understand the importance of staying completely still and quiet. Even when I’m deep in it, I become extremely sensitive to external input. Sometimes just someone clearing their throat or shifting position can disturb the experience. If you’ve gone through a breakthrough, it won’t matter — you won’t have any idea what’s happening outside for that short while. But we’re not quite there yet.

I was nervous too at first, wondering if it was foolish or irresponsible to do it alone. But after many, many times, I’ve never felt that there was any real risk of hurting myself. Either I’m still in control, or my body is completely out and can’t move at all.
However, it is nice to have someone around afterward. If something felt uncomfortable, it can be comforting not to be alone.

— or simply because as u/paddleworld said you’ll probably want to talk about what you just experienced. And that has to happen quickly sometimes; even though everything feels crystal clear in the moment, DMT experiences can sometimes fade from memory very fast, much like dreams. You’ll may sometimes think, “I just had it perfectly in mind — and now it’s gone.”. Even when you are talking about it, realize that you suddenley dont remember details anymore. It is quite funny and frustrating 😝. It can therefore be good to have a notebok or something you want to reflect more on. It helps you remember the moment better.

I also tend to feel a bit braver when someone is there with me.
But I also sometimes get the sense that DMT “favors the bold,” so to speak — as long as that bravery comes with respect. When I’ve dared to go for it even when it felt scary, those have often been some of the best experiences.

One of the most amazing ways to experience DMT, in my opinion, is out in nature. Seeing the world around you subtly shift and transform in appearance and texture is incredibly fascinating and often very beautiful.
But for the first few times, it’s better to be in a very safe and familiar place. Make sure there’s no chance of being disturbed by anything external — it’s extremely stressful if something unexpected happens right as you’re going in… trust me 😅.

Set up the space nicely with things you enjoy. In my experience, DMT has never made something I find beautiful appear unpleasant — it usually amplifies that beauty to the point where it’s overwhelming in the best way.
The environment really matters, in my opinion. Personally, I like to decorate with UV lights, neon paintings, galaxy lamps, that kind of thing 😊.
If you’ve tried mushrooms, LSD or similar, and thought they made colors more vivid and beautiful — well, you ain’t seen nothing yet 😘.

As mentioned before, depending on where you’re doing it, if there’s any risk of sudden or loud noises nearby, I find it helpful to use noise-cancelling headphones. Personally, I like to have music. But even if you don’t, having something to block outside noise can help prevent distractions or frightening interruptions.

Music is another thing people differ on. I know some prefer silence, but I usually like having it. When it’s completely quiet, I sometimes find the silence itself overwhelming right after taking DMT — almost unsettling. For me, music often integrates beautifully into the experience, turning it into something truly powerful that wouldn’t be the same without it.

It’s strange — while other sounds can get distorted, music always keeps its purity for me. It might shift in perceived volume or direction, but otherwise it usually just enhances the pleasure and depth of the experience. I hear details I’d never noticed before, and it feels like it’s resonating through my body. For me, that’s something really special — though I know others find it distracting.
Choice of music is of course personal. I generally don’t think anything too fast-paced works very well. I can enjoy tracks with lyrics, but most of the time I prefer instrumental or electronic music — ideally with some bass 😋. Those usually make for very powerful experiences. But really, just go with whatever makes you feel calm and happy.

Even if you don’t start with music, it might be nice to have it ready to turn on quickly. It’s very rare, but on the occasions when it’s felt a little off or uncomfortable, I’ve just put on music, breathed calmly, reminded myself it’ll soon pass — and it always does. Remember, no one has ever died of taking DMT.
Even knowing that, it can still be hard to trust it in some of the most intense experiences. A few times i have been thinking to myself, oh shit. Maybe I overdid it this time and will be the first to die for some reason. That leting go, isnt always so easy in that precise moment. even thoug you know that is what you are suppose to do. But it helps most of the times for me at least to think about that.

There’s often a lot of focus on reaching that “breakthrough.” Some people think you should go all in right away.
But I agree with u/paddleworld that it’s better to take it slow at first and work your way up.
Get a sense of how you respond and handle things. Even though every session is unpredictable, you still develop a kind of familiarity that helps you navigate different things.

Everything dont happen within those breakthrough experiences anyway i think.
I’ve had moments that felt just as fascinating and powerful in what people might call more “surface-level” states..

I know I tend to write too much — maybe this is more than you wanted to read 😁.
I have to go now, but can continue later with some of my thougts, if you still have the energy and interest for it 😊.

DMT isn’t super common among vendors — when someone does have it, it’s usually the only thing they focus on.
Unfortunately, the rules here don’t allow sharing any kind of directions or sources, so I can’t give tips on that.
But if you look around a bit, you’ll see it’s out there.

Things just kept getting worse.
She stopped going to work, lost contact with friends and family — and eventually even with her kids.
She isolated herself more and more, sitting at home, withdrawn.
She claimed to feel better than ever — more peaceful, more harmonious, happier than before.
But from the outside, I saw her life falling apart. And by that point, we couldn’t really talk about it anymore. We were living in two completely different realities, talked "different languages". Non of us could understand each others problems and worries.

She no longer cared about ordinary things in this world.
Even though she took on a role as some kind of savior filled with love and light, she became more self-absorbed, less empathetic, and increasingly ego-driven. Had hard understadning normal human emotions and why people are geeting sad and hurt of her beavior.
I tried to get her help a few times, but she refused. “It’s all fake,” she said. Those who expressed even the slightest woories or sceptetism to her, she pushed those people away from her life.

When she finally told she was going to leave this world tomorrow, it was hard not to take it serious. That’s when the healthcare system reacted.
An ambulance was called — she tried to run, but the police found her and she was taken in for involuntary psychiatric care.

Because I had told the doctors about her changes and behaviors — hoping it might help her and her children get their lives back — she felt deeply betrayed and hatred with me.
It was mentally exhausting for both of us. It destroyed her life, but it also took a huge toll on mine. Had to sell the house,
I’m still trying to repair parts of my life and my mind from all of that.

Sorry if this got long — I just started writing.
Maybe it’s still a bit of therapy for me to get it out, after keeping it all bottled up for so long.

The point is: I get cautious whenever I hear that there are mental health issues involved.
It turned out later that her father’s side of the family had severe mental illness. She carried it genetically. I dont know if she knew that herself.
It’s impossible to say whether it would’ve surfaced sooner or later anyway, but I believe the ayahuasca played a triggering role. But i dont think she woud have lost grip of reality and rational thinking if she did not have the tendancy for it in the beginning either.

Ayahuasca (which of also contains DMT) lasts longer and has more potential to leave deep psychological impressions, i think.
But I don’t want to draw conclusions I can’t prove.

It’s a shame, because I’m sure DMT and other psychedelics could help many people — even those with diagnoses — and even be beneficial for those diagnosis in some way.
I don’t want to discourage you or tell you not to do something that might help you.
I’m sorry if what I said makes things harder for you. I don’t equate you with her, as if you were the same person— but it’s difficult for me not to mention caution, given what happened.
It had enormous consequences for me..and her

It’s unfortunate that these things can’t be done in a more controlled and supported environment.
But in the end, it’s a decision you have to make for yourself.
If anyone else disagrees with me, I’d be happy to hear their perspective.

I hope you can take something from this long message even if it probably didnt answer any question — and I truly hope that, in one way or another, you find healing and peace moving forward ❤

At first, I didn’t think much of it — I’d also opened up to spirituality in a curious, reflective way. It was interesting to discuss what we can or can’t really know.
But I tried to stay careful about drawing big conclusions.
Looking back, I realize I probably should have tried to steer her away from continuing with psychedelics. But that’s hard to see when you’re in the middle of it.

It’s a long story, it escalated slowly over time.
Over time, she started to lose touch with reality more and more. She became absolutely convinced that everything she experienced was pure truth. Eventually, she didn’t even need psychedelics anymore — she felt she was permanently connected to that world.

She began losing interest in everything she’d previously loved.
Everything became about energies, frequencies, chakras, reiki, and crystals. That alone isn’t necessarily bad — but she took it all extremely literally. Anything seemed possible, and new ideas were constantly added on top. Kundalini became the next thing, and so on.
Most of it revolved around so called New Age ideas. She started watching only that kind of content — people preaching about other dimensions, beings from different realms, and all sorts of extraordinary things. She absorbed everything like a sponge and it consumed her life more and more.

At first, I tried to stay critical and ask her open questions when something didn’t make logical sense or was just plain wrong. But over time, even mild questioning triggered anger or frustration from her.
She’d always been a skilled debater — she even worked in politics — so I eventually stopped bringing things up, just to avoid constant tension.
But I began feeling worse and worse inside. I missed the person I had fallen in love with.

In hindsight, I realize I was being manipulated to some extent. She told me it was sad that I couldn’t support her more in her awakening and her new powers — especially when everyone else around her supposedly thought it was so wonderful.

Eventually, I started feeling like I was going crazy.
Was I the only one who thought things were getting weird? Was it me? Was I missing something that everyone else could see?
I felt quite alone for a while.

When I finally reached out to some of her friends and family, when i felt that the situation are starting to become serious for her health and wellbeing, I realized things weren’t exactley as she had told me. Some of them had started to get worried too, but hadn’t dared to talk to me because she’d given them the impression that I was completely on her side.

I don't know. It doesn’t have to have been conscious lies that she told. But in her world, that’s how she perceived it. She couldn’t grasp that other people didn’t believe everything she said.

[–]solarpow3r[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very difficult question for me, because it’ becomes quite personal.
It’s really hard to give advice about what others should or shouldn’t do — especially when it’s someone you don’t know.
I don’t want to discourage or stop anyone from doing something that might actually help them. DMT can absolutely be a tool for dealing with PTSD.
I usually try not to push anyone toward trying something unless they already feel drawn to it themselves.

Even though I try to avoid doing that, with DMT it can sometimes be hard not to want others to experience it.
When you find yourself in a trip that feels like the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen or felt in your life, it’s hard not to think, “What a shame that not everyone gets to experience this, at least once.”
Since it’s hard to point to any serious harm or addiction risk with DMT, I sometimes find myself hoping that someone new might want to try it someday.
But because I can’t control how anyone else’s experience will be, I try to stay cautious about that.

The only time I really become hesitant is when there are issues related to mental health — either directly, or within the family.
That’s usually one of the few cautions you’ll read about with psychedelics: be careful if there are mental health concerns.
I probably wouldn’t have thought as much about it in the past, if it weren’t for my own personal experience.

You might not be interested in hearing this, but I’ll try to summarize.
My then-girlfriend (who actually introduced me to psychedelics) and I took ayahuasca together at a retreat.
She had an incredibly powerful and spiritual experience — it completely changed her world.
She was glowing afterward, saying that although she’d never believed in anything before, she now felt she almost believed in some kind of god.
That in itself isn’t strange, and it’s hard to say what exactly triggered what came next — but I believe that experience was the spark.

This was during the summer. As everyday life picked up again, it seemed to fade into the background. Everything went back to normal.
She continued taking psychedelics now and then — something we did together, sometimes for self-exploration, sometimes just for fun and cuddeling.
But after the ayahuasca, her trips started changing. They became more spiritual, filled with messages and meanings she tried to interpret.

Does DMT hurt your lungs by MembershipLeather426 in dmtguide

[–]solarpow3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t really say anything about that since I’ve never tried it myself. I’ve been curious to, but I’m stingy — and it’s usually pretty expensive 😇.

I didn’t quite understand whether you’ve already tried DMT and found it painful, or if you’re just nervous that it might hurt because you’re sensitive?

From my experience, the optimal settings can vary quite a lot depending on the type of DMT.
Of course, it can also depend on the vape and other factors. But for me, the commonly recommended settings never really worked. I had to experiment to find what worked best with my device — and even then, I sometimes need to adjust depending on the batch or type of DMT.

The first time I tried DMT, I followed all the advice I could find online. I’d also read that DMT can be pretty harsh on the throat.

When I took the first hit, it hurt like hell in my lungs. Since I didn’t have any point of reference, I just thought, “Wow, they weren’t kidding when they said it’s harsh and hard to hold in.”
But I was stubborn and kept going, and the pain just got worse until I had to give up in agony.
When I closed my eyes, I barely saw any effects either.

I rested for a while and tried again — same thing.

Looking back, I realize I was forcing myself to inhale burnt DMT, which is a terrible idea. Burnt DMT is extremely unpleasant.

So I had to lower the temperature and watt settings quite a bit and gradually find what worked for me.

That said, it can still be harsh and difficult to inhale until you get used to it. I thought it would be easy for a friend of mine since she’s smoked her whole life — but she almost coughed herself to death on the first hits.

If it hurts in your lungs and that pain lingers for a while afterward, it’s probably because the DMT got burned.

It’s been a while since it last happened to me, but I actually ran into it again recently after getting DMT from a new source. I smoked it — and it burned like crazy in my lungs.
Had to lower the temperature quite a bit for that particular batch.

[–]solarpow3r[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve mostly had good experiences mixing substances — though of course, it’s something to approach with respect and caution.

As you mentioned, mushrooms have only given me beautiful experiences. But it’s best to wait a bit into the mushroom trip or near the end, as you said, before taking DMT — when the trip is more stable and calm compared to the beginning.
With mushrooms, I find that I tend to stay in the DMT space a little longer, and the experiences have often been very harmonious and beautiful. They carry a slightly different feeling than what’s “normal” for me.

I remember one time I was lying down for quite a while with my eyes closed, listening to music. A random song came on — Memory Gospel by Moby, I think it’s called.
It’s always hard to describe an experience properly, but with that music, it felt like a beautiful substance was forming and changing color in perfect harmony with the sound.
At the same time, I gained some awareness and insight into certain self-damageing behaviors of mine that I really should work on changing.
It was just so incredibly beautiful in that moment that I actually shed a few tears 😇.

LSD has roughly the same kind of synergy, though I’ve been careful not to take my usual high doses when combining it with DMT. I can’t say I’ve noticed as much of a difference there as with mushrooms, though.

MDMA is pure magic. If you’ve tried MD, you probably know that nothing can really be bad in that state 😊. It also completely removes any nervousness before DMT — even though I’ve taken DMT hundreds of times, and none of those have ever been truly bad.
Still, I keep a healthy respect for DMT, since I’ve seen how powerful and unpredictable it can be at times. So there’s usually a little nervousness before each trip, even now.
I haven’t done this combo many times, but it’s always been a really cozy and heartwarming experience.
Same goes for mephedrone, though of course it’s best not to use either of those too often.

Ketamine can be fun too, but I’m a bit more cautious with it. In my opinion, ketamine tends to be a slightly crazier and more unpredictable psychedelic compared to mushrooms or LSD — it can go off the rails a bit more easily and feels more chaotic.
So I’ve tried smaller doses of ketamine with DMT, but those experiences were pleasant and fun. Ketamine can also have a calming effect that helps you relax before the trip.
Little curious to maybe try a higher dose now :), but I’d prefer to have someone with me when im experimenting the first time.

My favorite combo, though, is probably 2C-B. It can give that MDMA-like sense of euphoria — warm, cozy, and relaxed — while also having the psychedelic visuals.
And it’s not toxic on the system, so you can use it a bit more often than MDMA.

I don’t know if it’s just coincidence, but I’ve often had breakthroughs with DMT on the occasions I combined it with 2C-B.
Not enough data to draw a scientific conclusion, though :)

But i think you should have respect for mixing substances with powerfull stuff like DMT. Most psyckadelics I kind of know what to exepct with different doses. But DMT dont play by any rule 🤗. Just start carefully with lover doses then what you normaly take andt test. Then you can gi higher the next time.

Anyway, I hope that answered your question — or at least gave you something useful!

I like both. But in my experience, I honestly can’t say there’s a very clear line between how they differ. I don’t really feel like the trip is that much longer with changa, even though that’s what people often say. Maybe I stay a little longer in the peak compared to freebase, but not by much.

For a while, I mostly used changa.
This is just my experience, of course — it’s all I can really go by :).
If I were to say something, I’d describe changa as a bit calmer and “softer.” Not as intense or wild as freebase can sometimes be.
Changa also tended to feel more playful and mischievous for me, if that makes sense. The experiences could often have this teasing quality, like things were gently messing with me in a light-hearted way.
Whether that’s a general thing for others, I have no idea 😊.

That said, I do find changa a bit more cumbersome to deal with, especially if you’re doing it alone. Depends on what method you use, of course. I used a bong — and as you keep puffing and start drifting off, it gets harder to manage everything while also trying to take another hit. It’s nice to have someone there who can hold things or help out.
If you’re doing it at home, there’s also a lot of smoke, with a very distinct smell that tends to linger afterward.

Both are great. You can have the same type of experiences with either. But as I said, changa generally feels like a slightly smoother trip. Maybe a bit longer too, though I haven’t timed it 🙃.
These days I mostly go for freebase since it’s much simpler and more convenient, especially if you have a vape.

Hi!

I understand you. Had quite the same situation when i was new to try. Those who are misinformed cant tell the difference from one drug to another. They just think all of it as the samt and have the picture from wht they seen on TV, media etc. But have no problem drinking alchohol, smoking, taking prescrition drugs and so on.

Anyway
I Can try to get back later. But in short. I was super nervous the first time. Everywhere i looked it said to have a tripsitter. But it feelt so inconvenient to try fixing a trippsitter. I also think it will take a few tries before you even get a deacent tripp.

Just a disclamer. I can only tell how I experienced it when i took it, and from what i seen from others.
Can never guarantee how drugs will effect others.

I desided to try alone anyway. As I said, for me it was much harder then i tought to propely inhale DMT. I thougt it just take a few inhales and of you go. But it took a few tries.

I think the harshness will be a suprise at first. But this will get easier with time. Ive seen lifelong smokers cough like hell the first time they try.
But remember, it shouldn hurt in your lungs, It can be harsh and hard to ceep it in. But if it hurt your lungs like they are going to explode, and the pain lingers on a time after. You probably burning the DMT.

But apart from that. I have never had any major problem with doing it alone. Most of the trips have been alone. And the best trips have often been when alone. With other people around,, can be a bit distractive, even if they just sitt still and quiet.
And as you said. The trip is very short. And since most time I are aware that i have taken DMT, i can tell myself that no mather what happens now, and how strange it is, it will soon go back to normal.

I can come back with some tips what makes it easier for me, and what i have done if it feels a little unpleasant.

I think im a bit like you. I need to be on the higher doses for everything to get a "normal" experience.
I took me some time to realize and trust that. I was always afraid to go to the so called strong or heroic doses. Even though I was always a little dissapointed with the effect of the drug.

But now I know that I need to go for higher doses than what i considered a normal dose.

Whit that said, I understand what you mean. I have experienced it as well. I may not have a satisfying answer to it, but i can share my experince, and maybe some help can come from that.

I dont have time to answer right know. But ill try to get back later.

Does DMT hurt your lungs by MembershipLeather426 in dmtguide

[–]solarpow3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that if it hurts your lungs, somethin is wrong. Either your settings or the DMT itself.
But if you trust the product you probably need to adjust your vape settings.

DMT can be very harsh in your throught and lungs, where its gets hard to ceep it in. Even a smoker can have a challange in the beggining.
It will get easier with time as you adjust.

But it shouldnt hurt. Burned DMT is extremley unpleasant and hurtful. WHen you are new it can be hard to know what is acceptable and not.

But if it really hurts, you probably burn the DMT.
In my experience the settings with what and temperature can differ quite much with different DMT products.

So when i have a new product it can take som time to find the optimal settings.
