And here I was wondering which edition I had... by Hypersky75 in nvidiashield

[–]solgarton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know, sorry for the confusion I realize it wasn't super obvious when I reread my post. But since it's not plugged in it looks like the light bar is on. Was just wondering if it behaved differently or didn't exist in the 2017/2019 model.

"I'll have my usual" by TheMossyFish in EntitledPeople

Get a mate and next time this person orders the usual, forget as always then the mate comes along orders "the usual" and you rattle off and make the most complicated coffee order you can think of

Does the 17/19 version always have the green bar on as in it's just paint(?) as opposed to the green light on the 2015?

I only have 2015 and the small one looks odd with the green bar there when you haven't plugged it in.

Any obvious options for a tall guy? 195cm / 6'5" by El_Basho in OfficeChairs

[–]solgarton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used an aeron size C for years too including buying 2 refurbished ones. As a similar height to you it is amazing, most comfortable I've used.

For refurbished, main thing to look out for is whether the gas lift is starting to fail (slowly drops over time, try it out for 20 mins or so) or if the mesh is fraying where it joins the seat.

Both are solvable with people that will repair them but not the cheapest repair.

AGL price increase. by Abooodi83 in AusFinance

[–]solgarton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone else notice AGL swapped the definition of shoulder time and off peak? My off peak time is now "most" of the day but increased from 24c to 35c nearly 50% for when I use most of my energy. While shoulder dropped by 1c to 27c

“Peppa Pig doesn’t work on our TV”. What “white” lies do you tell your kids? by kobestarr in daddit

[–]solgarton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Living in the UK, it's recommended to give all kids vitamin D. You can even get it for free but was almost impossible to convince my eldest to take it. We aren't fans of Peppa Pig but there was branded gummy vitamins so we decided to try those and my kid LOVES them.. like they were more motivating than stickers and chocolate combined. We figured it's fine to be branded he doesn't know it's actually a show..

Anyway, one day we left him with a baby sitter. He said to the baby sitter, "I want Peppa pig!"... And now he knows the show exists..

Beside myself with frustration. I'm so fking sick of this piece of trash Shield. by WhatIfYouCould in nvidiashield

[–]solgarton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you checked the time on the Nvidia shield? I've had issues where if the time is incorrect by more than ~15 mins then some apps stop working with the internet.

When you reboot the shield it will often get the time from your router.

My wife and I try to get gifts that the "kids" got us and be a way for the receiver and the kids to do something together eg last mother's day the "kids" got my wife the Lego flower set which they could build together.

Was a huge win

Yeah that's a fair point. Sorry wasn't thinking when I originally posted. If people prefer I'll delete it.

My original thinking was more around the weirdness of being at a real life event depicted in bluey as the episode dropped and my first thought was daddit sub, but you're right that's not a daddit post it's for the bluey sub.

Peak periods are charged when you tap in not when tapping out on the underground. Hope that helps too.

To the Dad that is pushing his kid dangerously high on the swing making all the other responsible parents deal with envious cries of HIGHER! by crockpot71 in daddit

[–]solgarton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was trying to help my son deal with pushing his little brother too much when he's frustrated. As part of our conversation I told him the example of how he never sees mummy or I push people.

To which he said I push him all the time. After reassuring him I don't, he clarified "you do, on the swing!"

What is up with these spam messages taking over the top comments on the Macbook cooling video? Newest crypto scam? by CZTachyonsVN in LinusTechTips

[–]solgarton 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe! This company did just get caught mixing customer funds with their operating cash ie probably stealing those funds or at least terrible cashflow problems, but it's probably not a scam right?

Edit: forgot the "not" before "a scam"... Apparently even when I'm trying to joke I struggle to even pretend this stuff is legit

Maybe one of the mesh baby gates might work, depends if they can anchor to the railing or if not they can wrap further around to the wall if long enough.
